Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
New animation seems to be the key thing missing, as Kai is just the original animation where they shifted around the color and made small changes.

Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
Definitely. That's what I'm secretly hoping for - that some years after Kai they'll release a new series, completely redrawn that would cover the whole story in no more than 100 episodes. Which means it'll cut straight to the chase.
I know Kai's s trying to be closer to the manga and have a faster pace (and it most certainly does accomplish that actually), but it still feels a bit slow to me. Not that I don't like the pacing - heck, I even like the pacing of the original Z, but that's not it. I've always imagined DBZ redrawn, with a consistent one-style animation and with a more badass feel to it. And I still hope for something like that. The 14th animated movie was really close to that idea, even though it had some deviations, but still - that's what I hope to see one day. It could be either a movie or a series, covering either DB and Z or just the latter, I don't mind. I just want it to become reality. But we'll see.
As for a new story... no, not really interested. I was satisfied with the ending of Z and even more so with that of GT (even though I'm still not quite sure if I treat the series as an animated fanfic or a new installment). I would like to see some new animated/CGI full-length movies or specials with some cool What-If stories or even something canon, contributing to the current plot.
In the end, only time will tell what we'll get though... if we get anything at all. But I like to be rather optimistic about it.

I don't know if they'll be doing the total redraw version of ai any time soon. If we were to get a redrawn retelling it's much more likely to be a Gurren Hen/Lagann Hen style thing where they retell parts of the story in movie form. Course, I don't think those were fully reanimated either, haven't gotten around to seeing them yet... But yeah, that basic idea. I don't think it would work out that well for Dragonball though, the show needs a little more time to breathe.

You guys, FOX just renewed their license for dragonballthemovie.com last week: http://whois.domaintools.com/dragonballthemovie.com
The one that was set to expire next month.
I'm not sure how to react.

They should get Zack "300" Snyder to direct a shot-for-panel adaption of the first volume of Dragon Ball Z, with the special effects guy from Avatar.

Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
Did Elder Kai separate into his original being and the old hag witch when he gave his life to Goku and died? No? So I guess you don't separate into two beings when a person fused with the Potara, since we one instance where they don't separate and we see nothing that contradicts this. Maybe it's because he didn't pass through the check-in station.TenshinFan wrote:Yeah. I always had this theory though, that when he died in GT, Nail separated from him in the afterlife. Since he and Kami were originally one, they'd stay fused, but Nail would become separate once more. I mean, if Vegito died, it would be Goku and Vegeta in the afterlife separate. Same with Nail/Piccolo.

The question "What would they do to Vegeta?" floats through my mind; especially because Vegeta never appeared in the other live action movies from China and Korea. There's no real precedent for him.

Domain renewals don't necessarily mean anything. Big companies register and renew domains constantly. Sometimes they do it for things they don't even have the rights to yet/anymore. At best, it's probably just to keep selling the Evolution DVD.

That would be such a relief. I hope that's the reason. TTuTTTripleRach wrote:Domain renewals don't necessarily mean anything. Big companies register and renew domains constantly. I would love for new specials, but i don't think I want to invest in a complete new series.

I picture live action Vegeta as being asian and not that much shorter than Goku.

Chatku still makes me sad
I guess with Vegeta I'm worried most about how they'd write his personality and backstory. Vegeta is calculating, egotistical, and prideful the way Goku is cheerful, carefree, and battle-loving.

I don't think we will get another sequel anytime soon, and I'm fine with Toei doing another series as long they hire someone good to write it.

Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
If a new story were to be made I would want it to take place after Z's ending, in place of GT.
After finishing his training Uub could take Goku's place as the main character. Start off with the concept of the Dragon Balls being overused. Have most of the strongest people (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Buu) go to fight some super powered foe threatening the universe out in space (or another dimension), and have Uub lead Pan, Piccolo, Tien, Chiaotzu, Krillin, and 18 in defending Earth from some threat while they're away. Maybe even have Yajirobe and Mr. Satan get stronger and actually become useful.
EDIT - sorry for necro

Y'know, I really don't dislike Tien as much as it may seem sometimes. It's just things like this that make me laugh and make snarky comments. I mean, you've got Kid Buu who's been trained by Goku, a guy somewhere near Cell's power, and a chick who can smack down a Super Saiyan.Zephyr wrote:Have most of the strongest people (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Buu) go to fight some super powered foe threatening the universe out in space (or another dimension), and have Uub lead Pan, Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu, Krillin, and 18 in defending Earth from some threat while they're away.
And then you look at those powerhouses and you say "Nah, that's not enough. They need Tien and Chaozu to help!" It boggles me. Boggles me hard.

Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
Fuck a new series. I just want a few specials. I mean, there are like, 30 years missed in a timeskip (not including the 100 of GT). Perfect times for specials, like the most recent one.
Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!
Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
Damn, that's true. In any case, I wouldn't mind seeing a new series with Uub in the spotlight, or a new special focusing on some of the fighters who've been tossed aside over the course of Z.Rocketman wrote:Y'know, I really don't dislike Tenshinhan as much as it may seem sometimes. Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
If a new series was made then I want better animation since I was not too crazy about the animation in the 08 special to be honset. The color for the SSj hair looked odd to me

Personally, I really liked the new color scheme for it. It actually looks like it's golden in that special as opposed to blonde, which, in my opinion, is how it probably should look.Hellspawn28 wrote:If a new series was made then I want better animation since I was not too crazy about the animation in the 08 special to be honset.
