Will they ever make new DBZ?
I know DBZ and GT (shudder) ended a long time ago but then we got that special Goku and his friends return!
I'm just wondering if we will ever see any more specials/movies/episodes in the future?
Thoughts?

Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
We never thought we'd see anything else before the Jump Special was announced. Same goes for Dragonball Evolution and the notion of a live action Dragonball, but I think most of us want to forget that.
Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
I've seen Toei's more recent animated movies for their currently-running series; what they can do with the technology they have now is incredible and I just keep hoping month after month that at some point they'll eventually get to Dragon Ball. @_@
Don't get me wrong, I loved "Ossu!", but I want to see a full length movie with the normal color palette used in DB and Z (In "Ossu!" it's all washed out looking) and with a big battle scene in there. There are clips in Kai's OP, in the openings of Budoukai 2 and 3, of what they are capable of. I know it has the potential to look spectacular.
If anything, I'd really want them to do it before Ms. Nozawa retires. I don't even care if they tack on the word Kai to the movie title, I just really want one last new animated film.
As for live action; give it another month and see if FOX renews their set-to-expire-May-14th ownership on their 'dragonballthemovie' url or lets it expire. I think that will probably seal the question of what they're planning to do next.

With One Piece and Pretty Cure gobbling up the kiddies in Japan, I don't see it happening too soon or too often.

While I dont see Toei making a new series, I do see it making another special in the same vein as the the Jump one.

If they don't, then hopefully before long a studio that knows what it's doing will pick the license up in their wake.Chuquita wrote:As for live action; give it another month and see if FOX renews their set-to-expire-May-14th ownership on their 'dragonballthemovie' url or lets it expire. I'd love to see a new series, but I doubt that'll be happening anytime soon.

Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
I too would LOOOOOOVE a new series. Even though, as with GT, fanboys would hate it. I love GT, I love (most of) the movies, and I'd LOVE a new series. What I'd especially like to see is what everyone was up to in the "gap years", ie five years before Z, or the 3 years before Piccolo Jr, etc.

I guess if they made a new series after DBZ but ignoring GT they would have to get around the fact that Goku, Gohan,Vegeta,Piccolo and fusion characters are the strongest in the universe now which would be hard.

That's never been a problem for fanfiction. Just stick a Brolly in there and bam.MasterVampire wrote:I guess if they made a new series after DBZ but ignoring GT they would have to get around the fact that Goku, Gohan,Vegeta,Piccolo and fusion characters are the strongest in the universe now which would be hard.
Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
They could make a spinoff series that occurs during the seven year gap of Cell and Buu, could make some interesting stuff with that.

I have hope and that's all I can say.

So you want another GT?Baby Naruto wrote:I'd love to see a new series, but I doubt that'll be happening anytime soon.
Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
Just because GT was...Ugh, doesn't mean that ever series after that will be terrible. Just because Toriyama most likely wont be behind it, doesn't mean all will fall to hell. I can write an essay about how the Dragonball series has the potential to become another great franchise like Star Trek, Star wars, Gundam Wing, etc. But I'll save that rant for a general topic for another day.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:So you want another GT?Baby Naruto wrote:I'd love to see a new series, but I doubt that'll be happening anytime soon.

I'm just saying that a new series by Toei has the potential to become another GT but who knows, it might turn out good.Scarz wrote:

A special in the same vein as the Jump Anime Tour one has a better chance of not sucking.

As far as I'm concerned, we ARE getting new Z in the form of DBZKai.

You mean a "refreshed" Z.Ultimate_DB_Fan wrote:As far as I'm concerned, we ARE getting new Z in the form of DBZKai.
Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
I have no interest in a new Dragonball story because I have no confidence in the people who would make it. Toei only has eyes for Goku and Toriyama doesn't know his bum from a Korin anymore.
Here, I'll save all of you the trouble:
~Toei's New Series~
Derivative Bad Guy: GRR
Cast: OH NOES *get beat down*
Vegeta: *gets ripped in half*
-Toei: *fapfapfap*
And then the sky splits apart, and Almighty Godku steps through. His Most Holiness waves his hand, and yea, the Derivative Bad Guy was truly destroyed.

Hell no. I want a TRUE Sequel series to DBZ, that Akira Toriyama would be helping with 100%, like with DB and DBZ.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:So you want another GT?Baby Naruto wrote:I'd love to see a new series, but I doubt that'll be happening anytime soon.

Re: Will they ever make new DBZ?
I'd be excited if they announced a new series. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? It's bad and I ignore it? Dragon Ball Evolution already did that.
