"Sheep" are the majority. People in positions of power know this. They create products for them and they sell. Luckily most people who hear the words "Dragon Ball" are true fans like us, and go into it knowing it's not gonna be as good as it should.

Sheep isn't a synonym for majority. The definition is "those who voluntarily acquiesce to a suggestion without critical analysis or research." It's usually used to describe herd behavior in people.

I'm sure plenty of it goes on, but unless I specifically know a person's reasons for something, I don't like using that term.

The majority... :shh:
But it's not simply about the majority. Majorities can easily be made up of a individuals who reached a similar conclusion.

Anyways, the movie was terrible, and I feel sorry for a number of the talents who worked on it (Marsters, Hudson, Rossum, Fat)

I agree, the actors who played Bulma, Roshi, and Piccolo were much better than this.

Emily Rossum is so fine... Shameless features her in a certain scene that I find, intriguing... :silent:

Funnily enough that lucky bastard Justin Chatwin was right there with her.

I've never seen Shameless, but I haven't seen anything where I was overly impressed by Chatwin.

I think bad word of mouth is the reason why the movie flopped. Fans were hating on the movie before it was released and the general public thought the movie looked terrible after watching the trailers. Fox got the rights to the franchise in 2002 then didn't start making it until 2007. Fox was most likely going to lose the license if they didn't start making the movie and they felt like Dragon Ball could be a blockbuster after seeing how well Transformers did.

Good luck writing commentary for 291 episodes and not being tired by the hundredth.

It is "The Room" of the Dragon Ball franchise

No seriously, me and my friends watched it once. It was so bad we spent the entire thing laughing uncontrollably.

Yeah, I kinda feel sad for him. I find Marsters to be quite a talented actor and, to be honest, he seemed to be the only person involved in the making of this film who actually cared.

Started thinking what would be funny if there were a con where Sean Schemmel, Cynthia Cranz, Mike McFarland, and Chris Sabat watching this movie and do a Mystery Science Theater 3000 like commentary in character.

I remember the post credit scene at the end of the movie. I guess Fox was hoping DBE will be a big hit, but never that happen. DBE only made $9,362,785 in the US, it seem like the only people who saw it only saw it just out of pure curiosity. I saw it with my little sister to see how it bad it was and I didn't feel rip off since I only payed $8.00 for it. We where the only people in the theater along with two other guys and it was opening weekend. I do remember one guy with his daughter came in during the middle of the movie and thinking the movie was "Imagine That".

I wonder how much its budget was. Wikipedia lists it as 65m, but that seems far too high especially for such crappy production values.

The number seems to be all over the place. I remember during production and around the release, 100M was being thrown around. Wiki lists it at 65M, IMDb has it at 45M and Marsters himself said it was 30M. There doesn't appear to be a clear cut answer but 30-45M seems appropriate.

I originally thought they had lower budget for the movie. If it was higher budget, probably would have been as awesome as the new superman movie. Thats my opinion though.

Serenity cost around that amount, so either that production made better use of its resources, or the number is off.
