It doesn't matter what the excuse is for him acting that way. All that matters is that it was written for him to act that way. Vegeta singing and dancing like a fool should never have happened regardless of the reasons.
Just like his comical behaviour when he was searching for Bills. It's not even funny to begin with.
Vegeta should not be that character. I don't mind him being a little softer given his development but he was a no nonsense tough prideful character in DBZ which is why people liked him so much and now that's ruined.
Like I said same with Piccolo, he used to be the same tough serious no nonsense character and now he also is singing karaoke.

It's kind of hard to consider what the Hell Piccolo's personality is when we only ever saw Piccolo during times of war. Hell, Piccolo was a part of a gag as far back as Chapter #205 of the 1984 comic.
