Err... Cell is made up of... umm...
cells... of various fighters...

"Veku" is just a fusion name like any other fusion name. Combine syllables. Instead of combining the
go(ku) and (ve)
jiita to form "Gogeta", you combine the
be(jiita) and (go)
ku to form "Veku".

See Gogeta.

Well.. that's one character I've found! If you don't understand, I asked if there were
ANY characters that didn't have a pun. Cell is now one of those characters.
Like General Blue.
General Blue's a pun. Every member we've seen in the Red Ribbon Army had a name relating to color. General
Blue, Commander
Red, Assistant
Black. That dude looking for the Dragon Balls when the Tenkaichi Budokai was over. I can't remember his name, but he definately had a color related name.

You mean Pilaf? Doesn't his name have to do with some kind of food?

Well that sounds like a pun to me. The pun is that Cell is made of cells from other warriors, his name is a pun on himself.

Are you thinking of Tao Pai Pai? If so, the pun is his name, which in Japanese is Peach White White.

Pilaf is a rice dish from Turkey.

You have to understand that a loose definition of the term "pun" is being used. Toriyama names his characters of things inspired by foods, words and sayings. Some are plays on words and sayings, while others are simply the inspired word in a different language. The latter is not a pun in the conventional sense, but it's still Toriyama playing around with words somehow, so yes, names like Cell's are still a pun.
In fact, Cell's a better play on words than the Red Ribbon Army's names: Cell is made up of the cells of Saiyans, Freeza and his dad, and Piccolo. His name is the English name for "cell." Meanwhile, the Red Ribbon Army's characters are just named after colours. The End.

I've always wondered where Paikuhan's name came from.... Also, I'd like to know why people use puns literally, like "Tullece", but others non-literally, as calling the female Saiyan "Selypa" instead of something like "Selypar".
And Bee... I know that the Transformation Guide for Boo says his name is "Bay", but that's the only time I've every seen his name shown as such. That's freaking weird. And also, couldn't "junsui" mean "unmixed"?

"Selypa"
*is* a more literal use of the word it's a pun on. Directly from the
katakana would be
seripa; however, since it's a pun on "parsley", we throw in the "L" instead of the "R" and such.

(scratches head) Dammit, it gets confusing which ones are supposed to be based in katakana and the others in English. CURSE YOU LANGUAGE BARRIERS! CURSE YOOOOOOU! Screw that, I'm still callin' her Selypar. Makes more sense to me...

Actually no. I was thinking of that person ordering some goons to look for a Dragon Ball. Goku comes in and finds the Ball easily, and then beats the guy up when he finds out his intentions. The guy later gets shot.
Ahh...Tao himself had a pun too, huh? Sweet.

Chinese.
Táo Báibái is
Chinese.

I call the dog "Bay" because it's closer to the original pronunciation of the name (and the fact that "bay" has meaning in relation to dogs). The main pun is that it's just Buu's name with the vowel changed by one row of kana, but that doesn't convey the pronunciation.
