you can compare him to moviebob, Shokio, MoBrosStudios, Chris Stuckmann. they are in their 20s (well moviebob is in his 30s) and they are not that deep.
First off, Princes don't have one sound, and Namekians and Dragons are fictional.

Yes, THOSE actors aren't deep, but Sabat is. People have a wide range of different sounding voices. Some have high, some have deep. Some voices are very distinctive, others aren't.

No but they are associated with certain traits. exactly, fictional creatures (most of them) shouldnt sound exactly like humans.

My point is that deep voices are not the standard for 29.

Why shouldn't they sound like humans?

What is the "standard" voice for people aged 29?

Why does it matter if it is "the standard"? Is it believable that he has a deep voice at 29? Yes, because there are millions of people who do... including the man voicing him!

You say that fictional creatures shouldn't sound exactly like humans, but if you get into the Japanese original dialogue, both the Namekians and Shenlon/Polunga sound human. Barring some filters on the Shenlon/Polunga voices to make them more echo-ey and "booming", they sound perfectly human. Likewise, the Namekians sound perfectly human as well (and not just referring to Piccolo). So if you have issue with Chris Sabat's performances, then why not have issue with the original Japanese voice work?

In addition, so what if deep voices aren't the standard for 29 year olds? You make it sound like, because it's a "standard", Vegeta has to have some higher pitched tone. The sheer fact that it isn't an absolute leaves it perfectly acceptable and plausible for someone nearly 30 years old to sound the way Vegeta does. The only complaint I can really see for anyone to have for Sabat's actual voice work for that time frame (since it's far better now in my opinion) is how sudden the shift from trying to emulate Brian Drummond's performance to his more "current" Vegeta voice came about. It was clear during the early days of Funi's in-house dub that Chris was emulating Brian's performance tone wise, but even by the end of the Freeza Saga, that emulation had dissipated substantially, despite so little in-universe time having passed. However, I would sooner blame this on how he was being directed rather than his own performance on the matter.

I can't criticize a product I don't watch, ill be more than happy to criticize but its not often i watch it

I'm not saying he HAS to sound high pitched but he shouldn't have soundedas old as he did, you can only make a character sound so much younger or older before it just does not fit anymore

Deeper doesn't equal older. Where did you get this idea?

BUt that doesn't mean in every case, and as I pointed out Sabat voiced Vegeta and he was around that age when he started voicing him. Even if it's the usual case that people's voices aren't that deep, so what? Is it unbelievable that Vegeta could have a deep voice like that?

Not really but if we go by your statement then that means you should be okay with deep voiced kids because real life.

A deep voiced 29 year old and a deep voiced kid - yeah, that's the same thing. Seriously, you are reaching for reasons to hate on him. You aren't even scraping the bottom of the barrel. It's not like you've never heard a 29 year old with a voice that deep. I know for a fact that you have. You wanna know why? Chris Sabat has a deep voice.

Tay Zonday was 25 when he made this song. 25, with a very deep voice. So, Ree, what point are you trying to make by saying that a 29 year old should not have a deep voice?

Heck he wasn't even 29 when he started voicing Vegeta. He was 25 or 26 (Not sure exactly when they started recording). I see you posted his birth year in the previous page but just to make it clear he was younger than 29.

Kids can go through puberty early so a deeper voice can happen
Young adults CAN have deep voices. They can also have higher voices. In a cartoon they typically dont sound so deep or old

As for the topic, I think folks are more used to Mr. Sabat than Mr. Bandey. A lot of folks are also unaware of the Big Green dub's existence or don't care.

I didn't think anyone really cared about the Big Green dub except as something to laugh at. Imagine my surprise when I see someone her legitimately trying to defend it.

Tell me, what precisely do you genuinely like about this silly thing? :eh:

Another thing that should be pointed out out is that, to my knowledge, nobody's actually been hating on the Big Green dub. It's usually grouped in with Speedy as one of those "So Bad, It's Good" dubs. I don't think I've seen an actual anti Big Green rant anywhere, really. Even so, most of the blame is usually put on the actual dubbing production, not the actors themselves.

It's really not unreasonable for someone of that age to have a deep voice. In fact, doesn't Big Green Vegeta have a fairly old sounding voice?

This is a complete stretch. It's not rare at all for a full grown mature ADULT to have a deep voice. This idea you hold is absolutely ridiculous. If we give any credence to your argument, it's still FAR more likely that a 29 year old has a deep voice than a kid. This argument is one of the silliest that I've ever come across. I have a hard time believing that anyone honestly thinks that Men in their late 20's with a deep voice are unrealistic. His voice isn't even James Earl Jones deep. This entire line of thinking is baffling.

I don't like Kirby Morrow's take on Goku because it's bland in both voice and characterization.

Early puberty isnt that rare either and you can develop a deeper voice early if you smoke. No but they dont usually sound 50 either. I've explained what makes him so bad but people seem to only notice when I say too deep. I said nothing about unrealistic.

Again you don't explain what makes it so. I can replace Kirby Morrow with Sean Schemmel and it has the same effect.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3w04iNBSc0 he sounds actually youthful, confident, he doesnt overdo any of his emotions, he can sound goofy without sounding like a total moron, he can get serious and badass without going OoC, he can do both at the same time ("Gee, I know youre under a lot of pressure, but try to keep your head on your shoulders!") and hes a natural in the role and OH GOD WHY DIDNT HE REPRISE HIS ROLE IN THE UPCOMING OCEAN KAI T_T

1 - Sabat is naturally deep voiced
2 - he did smoke
3 - you have to be exaggerating because that doesn't sound remotely like a man in his 50s.
but people seem to only notice when I say too deep.
At a certain point all one can say is "i disagree, i think he's a good actor", but this, this is something sound out left field that one can't help but fixate on your statement.

I did explain several times, what will suffice for you? Goku has a very specific child like personality, whereas Morrow's take is more in line with how Schemmel and previous actors were directed to perform Goku - as a western superhero. I find Morrow's voice as Goku to be un memorable. He's unconvincing as Son Goku. You really love the Ocean/Westwood cast and dislike everyone from the FUNi cast
