Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
As has been reiterated numerous times throughout this thread, SoM releases typically get smaller, re-encoded mini versions made by outsiders within, like, a week of release. If you wait just a little longer then a smaller release is sure to appear on the same site as the SoM release, so I don't see why any of this matters at all.
The original encode is supposed to be "master quality" anyway. People who want the best video and audio quality will be satisfied and people who only care about the color correction and not grain retention or lossless audio can either re-encode the release to a more compact size themselves or wait for someone else to do the work and upload it and then they can download that. This way, the release satisfies everyone without compromising quality.
(Also, this is a lot of complaining about fan work. Just because something is released for free doesn't mean you can't complain about it, but all this indignation might be better served toward Toei and Crunchyroll--they're the ones who haven't bothered to do high quality film scans or color correction for official releases.)

Seed of Might: "Next time you watch movies at home, we recommend popcorn, soda, and 435 GBs." That's roughly 25 GB per movie.
Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
I don't have the storage space for this release, so I'm just going to be a good little girl (adult ver) and wait for a mini version in a couple of years. It'll be interesting to pop open an episode and see how it looks in motion, some day!

Those mini versions come out a lot sooner than that, as in a few weeks after the main version.JulieYBM wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 1:19 amI don't have the storage space for this release, so I'm just going to be a good little girl (adult ver) and wait for a mini version in a couple of years.

Just wanted to hop in again and say I'm super happy that some sync issues I noted with the "original FUNimation dub" option have been fixed in v3. Of note, the last cell art episode where Trunks goes back to the future, in part b the audio used to be like.. half a second too early and now it's spot on. That's basically the only version of that dub that really matters to me so very grateful that it's improved!

The entitlement coupled with the complete lack of gratitude you’ve expressed throughout this thread is staggering.Diccolo-420 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 1:54 am I'm sorry but x265 encodes are hardly butchering, this is just a misrepresentation. At the end of the day, if you're the one providing the product maybe you ought to consider that not everyone has a terabyte of space lying around.
Just FYI I have already downloaded and fully re-encoded the entire release @ near-transparent quality. You could have done the same by now as well. You know, instead of complaining about this free release, which took years of research and hard work, across the last four pages.

And to everyone else, I am now personally working on upscaling the color corrected footage with the model I’ve been tweaking since last summer. Results are beautiful and look native HD. Amazing how much detail these 20+ year-old SD transfers hold.

Is there a discusison thread about this sync project or anywhere else to track it other than this docs link?Hydrus wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 2:45 amThere is a project exactly like this called DBox Sync To Kai, you can check the updates in the link below! (Along with general statistics and resources)Scsigs wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 2:19 am Well, if AB Groupe's team ain't gonna continue doing the color corrected Blu-Rays, then this is the next best thing. I've been waiting for this for a while. May even reboot my idea to recut the DBox footage to the DBZ Kai audio. I know there's other projects attempting to do similar, but I wanna take a crack at it. The only problem I'd have is locating certain shots in the recaps to the original series. It'd also give me the ability to even make versions of the episodes that cut out the dumb fillers that were left in of scenes not from the manga that drag down the pacing & what not.

Additionally, look up Dragon Ball Z Recut from Team Kienzan on this forum as we have our own thread. In response to your second point.
Finally, I think a lot of people are waiting for the DBZ CC. It will definitely be a big moment for not just the Dragon Ball community, but also preservation in general! Doing what Toei won't.

No there isn't a separate thread at the moment! But the project is going through a slight name change. I will try to tell the team members to make a thread on Kanzenshuu once the project name is changed.Escavalien wrote: Wed Dec 31, 2025 12:15 pmIs there a discusison thread about this sync project or anywhere else to track it other than this docs link?Hydrus wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 2:45 amThere is a project exactly like this called DBox Sync To Kai, you can check the updates in the link below! Truth nuke! Also, I'm curious how your models compare to Neo-Raws. Who has already began upscaling a couple SoM DBZ CC episodes himself.ChouGenkiDama. wrote: Wed Dec 31, 2025 7:56 amThe entitlement coupled with the complete lack of gratitude you’ve expressed throughout this thread is staggering.Diccolo-420 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 1:54 am I'm sorry but x265 encodes are hardly butchering, this is just a misrepresentation. Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
The color corrected movies are out; Seed of Might has been cooking behind the scenes this past year. This has been a good week for Dragon Ball fans.
Thank you so much to the entire team for this amazing project, as you've done what none of the right holders managed to do. We can finally say that we have the entire classic era the way it was intended to be experienced.

All the work the CC team did, Jy's encode, iKaos' v4 encoding guide, and me swearing at the skies cleaning and restoring all these random asf dubs. We are happy to finally have this out. And since I'm west coast USA, happy new years!

What are the DB and GT V2 that are mentioned in the Q&A section of the movie page ? Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
Various fixes to the CC along with tweaked subtitles and further audio upgrades. Here's a snippet from our FAQ of our upcoming work from the iKaos update from last month, so its a bit outdated on DB info, but it should give a general idea where we are at. The audio for DB's 2.0 Saga sets is getting a huge overhaul, which I am finishing this weekend, but otherwise, that should be the only new addition/replacement in the audio side. I am working on something similar with GT's 2.0 dub too.The Dark Knight wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 12:47 am What are the DB and GT V2 that are mentioned in the Q&A section of the movie page ? DBv2: All video work is complete. Subtitles are also being re-timed from scratch, however due to the focus on Z and lack of workers, DB is further behind with around 50+ episodes that still need adjustments. Audio is unchanged from the previous release. DBv2 will likely release early in 2026.
GTv2: GT had a few episodes that needed visual updates which were done quite a long time ago. Everything else will be the same as the current release outside of a few sub fixes as reported in issue reporting. GTv2 will release shortly after Z, likely before DBv2.
Specials v2: The Trunks Special had a few visual issues that were fixed. Both SPs had minor audio and sub updates. The TVSPs will release shortly after Z, likely before DBv2.

To be fair, they DID give cryptic hints on their socials about them.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

But are those improvements in V2 only going to be for the English audio? I mean, nothing else will be done about the video, right? Since I only watch it in Japanese with some Spanish subtitles I have, I don't have a problem with that.
