My point is they will not understand the story.SonEric84 wrote:Anyone can easily enjoy Dragon Ball without picking apart the scientific aspects of it.
Dragon Ball has plot and stories unlike bugs bunny or tom and jerry.
Bugs bunny or tom and jerry is more easier to enjoy for any ages and condition.

Dragonball is serious business guys, this isn't a kids cartoon or anything. You need a college degree to understand the first 13 episodes alone.goodguy777 wrote:My point is they will not understand the story.SonEric84 wrote:Anyone can easily enjoy Dragon Ball without picking apart the scientific aspects of it.

Honestly, I don't agree with that at all. Yes, it is more complex than other cartoons, but not to the point where you won't understand it at all. Perfect example being my little sister watched Dragon Ball with me before she was even in kindergarten.

Why do you format your posts all weird? And Tom and Jerry did have a plot. Dragonball has a plot, it is just criticized for not having enough drama and too much action.goodguy777 wrote:My point is they will not understand the story.SonEric84 wrote:Anyone can easily enjoy Dragon Ball without picking apart the scientific aspects of it.

How will you understand the creation of Cell if you didn't know anything about biology?

Then what's the point of watching something if you don't enjoy it, I'm not following where your taking this at all.goodguy777 wrote:It's about understanding the story not enjoyment.SSJ2bardock wrote:I don't see it, I think you could have zero knowledge of science and still enjoy Dragonball. -edit- The part about not understanding Cell is pretty simple, here's a dumbed down version for someone who doesn't know science; Cell was made by an evil doctor and he knows how to use other characters powers, you don't need to know anything deeper than that.

And walking, talking animal-people.goodguy777 wrote:Dragon Ball has plot and stories unlike Bugs Bunny or Tom and Jerry.
And magical glass balls that you gather to summon a genie-dragon with.
And a squat, maniacal little blue troll dressed like a clown who wants to rule the world.
And space aliens who can all fly and blow things up with blasts from their hands, and some can even stop time by holding their breath or switch bodies with people.
And a giant bug-creature who gets stronger by sucking people up with his tail.
And a special dance that can combine two people together, and a pair of magical earrings that can do the same.
And a big, pink, demon made out of bubblegum who changes shape by eating people.
And the entire mortal universe and afterlife are all contained within a gigantic, spherical glass fishbowl.
DragonBall is primarily a fantasy/action comic. Any and all "science" within it is purely secondary, and most of it is absurd or contrived. We've got capsules that can apparently shrink and contain things like vehicles or houses, without changing their own weight. We've got spaceships that can traverse across entire galaxies in a matter of days. We've got time machines. We've got make-believe biology where you can patch together a horrific monster capable of destroying the planet from a few scattered DNA samples.
It's a fantasy comic, tried-and-true. Trying to seriously introduce and abide by any real-world science within it is only asking for trouble, and a bigger headache than any of it is worth.
Don't make me drag out the old catgirls .gif, people. I'd rather not.

Gag = Simple comedy(slight nudity or toilet humor), unlike the comedy of tom and jerry of Bugs Bunny(tom survives a nuclear bomb, it's a comedy).
Martial Arts = Action and tournament.
Adventure = Different places and enemies.
Mystical = Wish from the dragon, water that can make you strong, sorcery, demon, nyoibo, Goku's cloud, gods, senzu beans and after-life.
Science-Fiction = Robots, genetic engineering of cells, aliens from another planet, hoipoi capsules, fying cars and motors, spaceship that can travel from galaxy to galaxy, time machine, mutants and advance architectural design.
According to genre of Dragon Ball, science is not purely secondary but main.
It's a gag manga! It never was nor was it meant to be scientifically sound or accurate.
Actually, I think it's criticized for having too little action or drama and too much "everybody stands around doing nothing". I could put a DVD in and hit play, then drive to McDonald's, eat three cheeseburgers and a malt, drive to the mall, buy a copy of Playboy, crack one off in the restroom, get kicked out of the mall, drive to Wal-Mart, buy a copy of Tenkaichi 3 and Budokai 3 and a new memory card, drive home, 100% both games, drive back to Wal-Mart and return them, wreck my car driving home and die in a fiery explosion and Goku will still be staring into Freeza's eyes.Pain wrote:Why do you format your posts all weird? I guess they make out or something eventually, MAYBE AFTER THE SUN BURNS OUT.

I just did, I gave you a way to explain the supposedly so biologically complexe character of Cell to somebody who doesn't know much about science.goodguy777 wrote:I said HOW?.SSJ2bardock wrote:-edit- The part about not understanding Cell is pretty simple, here's a dumbed down version for someone who doesn't know science; Cell was made by an evil doctor and he knows how to use other characters powers, you don't need to know anything deeper than that.

How will we understand? Well...they explain(the characters) it within the series. Damn, I'm smart. I just solved your problem.

I just don't get it. I don't feel like the stare-offs drag out at all. The only thing that annoys me is the filler at Capsule Corp between the stare-offs.Rocketman wrote:Actually, I think it's criticized for having too little action or drama and too much "everybody stands around doing nothing". Let's try this again.
Star Trek is a science fiction series. DragonBall is not.
In Star Trek, science is the primary focus of the series. In just about every episode, they have to do something fancy with the ship's technology, like recalibrate the deflector dish or hit something with an inverse tachyon beam or fix the sonic showers again because they're misaligned and making horrific, high-pitched-to-the-point-of-inaudible screeching noises that are giving everyone migraines. Science is the focus of that series.
In DragonBall, people have large-scale martial-arts battles. Every so often, somebody will have used a spaceship to get to where the battle is happening, or one of the combatants will be a scary monster who was grown in a tube. Science is NOT the primary focus of DragonBall.
