The DBZ Jump Anime Tour Special (Now Streaming!)
I really did not care for this special at all.
Table was pretty damn useless and basically vanished once the fight started. Honestly...he could have been replaced with any other random alien and nothing would have changed at all. His wife was even more useless and seemed to exist only to have Muten Roshi make a joke about her. The villains were extremely generic and uninteresting. Not to mention how Goten and Trunks were shoved down our throats for 3/4 of the special.
The biggest thing that got on my nerves was Vegeta. I can accept that he's mellowed out some over the years, but it's ridiculous for him to have turned into a complete comic relief character the way he was portrayed in this special.
I did, however, like the nice opening sequence and the part at the end where all the side characters got to save the people at Mr. Satan's party using their signature attacks. The radish picking scene was pretty entertaining as well - I seriously lol'ed at the radish Kame Sen'nin pulled out. And the animation was really nice even if I'm not a fan of the way they started drawing Goku's and Vegeta's arms starting at the Majin Boo arc.
A few random questions:
Is this the first time Kame Sen'nin's shown any attraction to Chichi?
Also...when Goten was picking radishes, what did he mean when he said he's going to use what Dende taught him?[/i]

I personally took this as that they would have no idea what one looked like, so they just assumed it was a sparkly power up, not to mention would they probably didn't know Goku and Goten were Saiya-jin.Tsukento wrote:I do wonder though...
Where the hell were Tenshinhan and Chaozu, and why weren't Tarble, Abo or Cado surprised by the fact that Goku and Gotenks could turn Super Saiyan? They acted as if they'd seen them before.
It sounded to me like he pitched his voice down a little, so he sounded a little more bearable.Tsukento wrote: I normally hate Roshi's current voice in the games...but for some reason, he sounds decent in this. Guess it's cause he's not shouting out every line.
Well, Goku did make a comment on how if they're only as strong as Freeza, then there wasn't any fun behind fighting them. Vegeta likely felt the same, which is why they pushed the two to fight them. Not only good training for them, but also an insult to Abo and Cado since they're basically saying "You're so weak to us, our kids could beat you."Dogasu wrote:Not to mention how Goten and Trunks were shoved down our throats for 3/4 of the special.
Honestly, I can't even remember. Most of his attention was on Bulma. Probably doesn't help that Chichi's mostly covered herself up since growing up, whereas Bulma's had times where she's worn all sorts of different outfits.Dogasu wrote:Is this the first time Kame Sen'nin's shown any attraction to Chichi?
I was wondering about what the heck Trunks was talking about regarding that as well.Dogasu wrote:Also...when Goten was picking radishes, what did he mean when he said he's going to use what Dende taught him?

Oh well now that makes a whole lot more sense. I thought he was being literal about it.kei17 wrote:It's just like "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe". In Japan, when we choose something, we occasionally say "Ten no Kami-sama no iu touri". It means "Just as God says".

I don't know if such a thing is allowed - so if it isn't, I won't do it.
(I just ask this because it available for free and a friend of mine here doesn't have internet at all, so I thought about saving it and taking it to him on CD or something.)
Does anyone know, if we can somehow save this special like in .flv or something?
Like I said, if that is not legal, then please excuse my question, I don't want to become a pirat or something ^^°
I could capture it with Camtasia, but I noticed that I had quite some slow-downs while watching it yesterday...

JAPPO was already nice enough to give us the flv file. You can just download it and do whatever you want with it.kaioken12 wrote:I don't know if such a thing is allowed - so if it isn't, I won't do it.

Well, they said that Satan invited everyone who "helped" him defeat Buu, so Kaio would count, since he was the one who allowed Vegeta and Satan to ask the people of Earth for help with the Genki Dama. But then that brings up why Lunch is there (besides for nostalgic purposes). She was shown contributing her ki to the Genki Dama in the anime, but then going by that logic, shouldn't everyone on Earth be invited?
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

Last night I posted 276 screenshots on my site, for those who are interested take a look. ^^
Do you guys have to insult the dub at every moment? Was it even necessary? I mean, come on, if you watch ANY version of the show, Vegeta is angry ALL THE TIME. And by the end, he's mellowed out.Captain Awesome wrote:I think a lot of the people saying "Vegeta is acting out of character" are probably coming from a dub standpoint, where Vegeta is just a loud cranky midget.Bussani wrote:Just looking at the last few parts of the manga that happen 10 years after Buu, Vegeta had mellowed out a lot. Hell, even the end of the Buu saga was similar. The way he acted in the special didn't feel wrong to me.

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

What about Yamcha? All he did was sit around and then die. :p Same goes for Roshi and Yajirobe.Herms wrote:Well, they said that Satan invited everyone who "helped" him defeat Buu, so Kaio would count, since he was the one who allowed Vegeta and Satan to ask the people of Earth for help with the Genki Dama. I wish it had end credits, though. Can you imagine Zenkai Power with Goten and Trunks?

See, they could have had SO much fun with that. Him being on Earth for the first time is a huge deal. This is his first time meeting Gohan and a bunch of other main characters. I don't even think some of these characters knew what he looked like prior to this get together. There's so much potential there, yet what do they do? Give him some "hey, he's there" shots in the background of two or three frames. What a waste.Tsukento wrote:Hell, Kaio-sama was there and didn't even say a word. One has to wonder what in the world he was even doing on Earth, let alone the living realm.
And I can picture FUNi adding a bunch of dialogue to this thing just so every character can have a chance to speak...
Well, if this special's going by the anime canon, Yamcha did help out with Kuririn when Boo came to the other world and started attacking the dead warriors.Tsukento wrote:What about Yamcha? All he did was sit around and then die. :p Same goes for Roshi and Yajirobe.
Roshi and Yajirobe...
... um... they...
Writers' excuse: you get to see everybody again! Stop complaining dammit!
And as for the ending credits, it's already been confirmed that we're getting a brand new song, guys. An updated "Zenkai Power" is out of the question.
