Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Super Saiyan 4 was created by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru the Character Designer for Dragon Ball GT. Perhaps Akira Toriyama is doing his own thing on a form beyond Super Saiyan 3.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
So, Maeda Minoru creates Giji Super Saiyan, Nakatsuru Katsuyoshi creates Super Saiyan 4, and Watanabe Yuusuke, Toriyama Akira, and Yamamuro Tadayoshi create Super Saiyan God. Poor Yamamuro's getting something of a jip.

Hadn't thought of that, that's a possibility too I guess.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Actually, based on all the talk in V-Jump making it sound like this is what the legend was talking about the whole time, I wouldn't have been surprised if they had named it "Legendary Super Saiyan"...but they kind of wrote themselves into a corner with Broli years ago. xD
Unless Broly is 'Another Saiyan' when he pops up and saves the day. Clearly. ...Don't kill me.

Hey guys, I just realized in the aftermath of this amazing trailer and the soundtrack list being revealed; we still don't know what's up with that WCF Vegeta figure's pose/expression. There's nothing hinting at why he's like that. o_O
I mean, it's gotta be something interesting if they made a toy of it.
I'm probably not going to learn the story behind that overly-cheerful Vegeta figure until after the movie, am I? XD

I can understand that, but given how GT turn out in 1996-1997 that I feel like Toei is not going to bother trying to link it up or make a flow up too it.Gyt Kaliba wrote:
There are those of us too though that, for all it's faults, do like to try and tie GT in together with the story as a whole, since it does have some pretty good ideas in there. And the implications of this new form could possibly make that even harder than it was before, that's all.

Yeah, I understand it's not something they'd do intentionally (and as you said earlier I think, they even said they weren't paying it any mind). I just meant that this could make it harder to do, depending on how it goes. Not a huge deal, but it would be a minor annoyance.Hellspawn28 wrote:I can understand that, but given how GT turn out in 1996-1997 that I feel like Toei is not going to bother trying to link it up or make a flow up too it.
Gotta admit, I forgot all about that figure again.Chuquita wrote:Hey guys, I just realized in the aftermath of this amazing trailer and the soundtrack list being revealed; we still don't know what's up with that WCF Vegeta figure's pose/expression. There's nothing hinting at why he's like that. o_O

But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Bulma with two Vegetas. XD
Vegeta's smiling there, but the thing is it's not his typical smug smile with the folded; WCF figure Vegeta is enthralled, bent forward, and with his arms clasped up over his heart. XD
It just seems so OOC of Vegeta to react to anything that way.
I seem to be continuously forgetting about the WCF toys whenever something new happens and then remembering about them after the fact. ^^; I think for me it's because it's just been so long since they were first revealed (back in November).Gyt Kaliba wrote:Gotta admit, I forgot all about that figure again.Chuquita wrote:Hey guys, I just realized in the aftermath of this amazing trailer and the soundtrack list being revealed; we still don't know what's up with that WCF Vegeta figure's pose/expression. Translations of that and even more stuff we haven't mentioned yet is coming -- worry not. People gotta sleep at some point! And by "people" I mean "Julian". And by "at some point" I mean "for a couple hours right this second before he gets back up and just starts working on this again".

A new SSJ form huh? Well this will effecively make GT non canon since Goku never uses it.

GT as a whole may not be so hot, but Super Saiyan 4 is the one thing from it that's actually worthwhile and impressive. So I just mean that I hope the new movie doesn't completely blow all "future" possibilities or usefulness for it out of the water in some way. Hence why I'm hoping that this "Super Saiyan God" thing, whatever it is, will just be a one-time thing solely for this movie, rather than a new standard form that he can use again in the future.
It'd be better that way overall, if you ask me. The movie's technically set before the end of the manga, after all, and having Goku achieve and KEEP some sort of god-like, overwhelming power-up wouldn't really mesh well with the manga's epilogue.

It would fit with the epilogue. Goku still feels it shouldn't be his duty to protect Earth so getting som God-like power up won't change anything. Honestly I feel Goku should be that powerful since he works so hard. This would also effecitvely make Goku vs Superman a closer fight as opposed to a straight pwnage. That is of course assuming Goku doesn't become Omnipotent. If that's the case he will stomp any Superman.

Obviously, Vegeta was the winner of the bingo tournament mentioned in the track listing. "Yes. YES! I finally beat Kakarrot at something!"Chuquita wrote:Hey guys, I just realized in the aftermath of this amazing trailer and the soundtrack list being revealed; we still don't know what's up with that WCF Vegeta figure's pose/expression. Funniest thing about the track listing is "The Pilaf Gang Arrives" followed immediately by "The Pilaf Gang is Driven Off". Well, that didn't take long
If the tracks are listed in order of movie events, something weird must be happening around tracks 19~22.
19. The Curtain Opens on a Bingo Tournament
20. The Pilaf Gang Arrives (Baby Gang)
21. Birusu’s Wrath
22. Fun Bingo
OK, so they start playing bingo, the Pilaf gang comes back again as kids, Birusu shows his wrath, and the bingo is apparently still going? Maybe they're cutting between different scenes, because all of that happening at the same place and time might be a bit complicated (unless Birusu's angry because he's losing at bingo

The bingo thing must be a tournament ala Cell Games, and the Pilaf Gang enters the tournament. They make Bills angry, and it then becomes a funny scene.

I saw in the trailer a fight between Birusu and Majin Boo. Former Demon of Destruction vs God of Destruction is very cool.

Goku won't became Omnipotent, because according to the soundtrack list, he is gonna have trouble against Birusu after his transformation. And I doubt the power increase would be big enough to cover the huge difference between Goku's & Superman's powers.TheMightyOzaru wrote:This would also effecitvely make Goku vs Superman a closer fight as opposed to a straight pwnage. Super-quick but hopefully better than Google translation of Toriyama's comment:
Edit: Fixed up a little. One ridiculous mistake corrected.
Edit: Fixed up a little. One ridiculous mistake corrected.
Apparently it's been 17 years since the last Dragon Ball animated movie! For all the animation up to now, I've basically jut left everything up [to the staff], so this is my first try at being involved starting from the story's creation. The key words this time, "God of Destruction Bilus" and "Super Saiyan God", were suggestions from the scriptwriter, but they were good ideas for presenting a crisis for the main characters, who had grown so strong that they'd reached a point where there was nothing higher. After first deciding on Bilus' character design and background, I tried thinking up an original story, imagining as if [the manga's] serialization had continued. What's more, the God of Destruction Bilus, who I drew the design for myself (something I don't usually do), is a terrifyingly opponent so overwhelmingly strong that he surpasses the dimension of the previous enemies. But it's my trademark to not let things get too dark. At the very least I'm satisfied to finish up a very entertaining piece of work.
By the way, the battle scenes in the second half are particularly overwhelming! I was moved because the presentation was better than I expected. Just as you'd expect, Japan's animation is superb! Everyone on the staff, you really did a great job!! Well, please enjoy the first Dragon Ball in a long time!

I'm actually pretty excited right now! Both for the movie...
... and to get my grubby hands on that soundtrack.
What?! I'M RUNNING OUT OF TRACKS TO USE IN ABRIDGED. I NEED MORE DRAGONBALL MUSIC. *Flips table!*
Also, positively loving the comedy we've seen so far. Love me some Saiyaman and Piccolo singing.
