I highly doubt that, Goku's resting power level is most likely well above 9000 as it is.
Does that make the statement any less true?

I'm watching the special right now, and it's looking pretty good.
But man, I keep forgetting how phenomenally large the Ox-King is...

So I decided to check out some Chinese forums to look for posts regarding the new Dragon Ball special. Apparently, there were some mistranslations in a certain scene. Particularly the "I thought we were friends" scene. According to a post in uwants.com, the translation should really go something like this. I'll post how that bit of dialogue went (as translated in Chinese).

Goku: Vegeta! You've eaten my chashu pork!
Vegeta: You ate my stuff first!
Goku: I was planning to save that chashu pork for last!
Vegeta: The grudge of food can be a very scary thing!
Goku: Shouldn't this be kept between us?! (---> Nothing involving food)
Vegeta: Those are completely seperate matters!
The world is your's.

That can't be right. During the "I thought we were friends" line. Goku clearly says "Naka". Wouldn't that be similar to "Nakama"?

I always thought his resting power was around 5,000. But 9,000 sounds accurate too.

Just a few comments on the special.
I loved how we got to see Kuririn, Yamcha, and Yajirobe in action again. I love Yamcha's Sokidan (even though it isn't that special looking)!
But Tien and Chaozu didn't get to do anything...Quiet sad I most say!
Over wise, I was in fan boy la-la-la land while watching the special.
Gohan: "You're a Buddhist." Kuririn: "A hungry Buddhist!"

Vegeta! [You ate] my Chashu [pork]!)
Vegeta: 貴様が先に食ったんだろうが!(Well, you ate what was mine first!)
Goku: オラ、叉焼最後に食うつもりだったんだ!(I was going to eat that Chashu last!)
(Hard feelings over food can be a scary thing!!)
(Aren't we supposed to be friends!?)
(That has nothing to do with this!)

They had it right. They just had a whole bunch of other stuff weirdly translated and/or "Americanized." (Not just in this example, but throughout the entire thing.)

All seems in order except for the last line which the Subs say as

"You thought wrong"

I'd like to get Julian's personal translation of this. XD

Me too. I love that last Vegeta line and hope it's not wrong. It's just so great.

It's like Tatsunoboshi Horoko says. Super-literally, what Vegeta says is "that and this are different".

Pherhaps literally it says that... but maybe in Japan saying it like that is similar to saying "You thought wrong!" ???

Really great special, too bad GT wasn`t like that :( Herms: That red-headed reporter is similar to Akane Kimidori from New Dr.Slump

Well, here are some examples of very similiar sentences and their translation. I'd say the subs are off here.

I actually think she looks more like Haya from Kajika myself.

Just watched the opening for the "new" Dr. Slump series; and you're right. It's definitely Akane with a dye-job.

I flipped through Kajika and I just wasn't seeing much of a similarity in facial features or hair.
On hiatus.

I guess the resemblence is to her redesign, since the manga/original anime version of Akane doesn't look like that at all.

I was thinking... when this comes out on DVD, they should (they might?) give you an incentive to buy it by adding a new scene or something... I'd take a new ending (credits) with a new song by you know who. Maybe also some kind of bonus thing on the DVD. I dunno what... a Neko Majin short animated?

I'm actually glad that this is the case. Even though I liked the line itself, it really doesn't fit the character anymore, since they clearly ARE friends, especially from their little 'thumbs-up' session after beating Buu.

Well, Piccolo kept saying he would rule over the world during the Android/Cell arc, and everyone knew it wasn't true.
I think it actually fits Vegeta because he wouldn't want them thinking "Oh, how much he has changed." That's his old attitude and the fact that he didn't say it in a real bad tone should be enough to understand he didn't really mean it.

Well I can't wait for the Funi DVD with Daimao doing the subs for them.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
