This, by the way, is the very first scene of DBZ that I ever saw, and it was the Ocean dub at the time. I remember thinking to myself, "I don't know who this 'Vegeta' guy is, but.....he's badass!"Craddle wrote:"I think I would rather have chopped Cui, but thanks for the offer"

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
Hopefully both the theme song and the score come hand-in-hand. The US release of the Budokai HD Collection included Rock the Dragon so they had no problem using that then. I'm sure they'll include it otherwise it'll fail as a nostalgia product.NitroEX wrote:But surely if it's called the "rock the dragon" edition that means they're using the theme song which I assume was also owned by Saban right?
If they can get the theme song why can't they get the score?

It'll have the original replacement music. They didn't include it in the item's description because they didn't feel it needed explaining. Of course Rock the Dragon will be in it, it's in the name of the product.

Now that I know the price is actually $100, it's a bit too steep for me, especially since I just finished buying Z Kai. I'll hold off until I'm more sure.

You know, if this weren't $60, I'd be okay with it. But it is $60 and that is baffling. I know FUNi needs to make a profit, but come on! You expect people to pay $60 for a butchered show? Cuts to episodes, edits, bad video quality and all? No, this is so stupid. I would have bought this, because the only think Ocean related I have is the first 3 movies, but for this price, sorry, that's not happening. If it was $40, I'd be okay with it. But $60? No, sorry. I am just not okay with that.

Big whoop. Just because this is nostalgia marketed and the like, should not justify spending $60 on an inferior product.ABED wrote:It's 53 Episodes, 3 movies and a 40 page booklet. 60 bucks is about right.ShadowDude112 wrote:You know, if this weren't $60, I'd be okay with it. Then don't buy it! You are under no obligation to do so. Considering the runtime of the set, 60 is a bargain.ShadowDude112 wrote:Big whoop. Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
I'm all for more Dragon Ball, but how about a release that isn't more of the same shit from 15+ years ago? I know there are still probably rights issues, how about the Jump Super Anime Tour Special? Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans? Episode of Bardock? Battle of the Gods? I know with BotG it's just a matter of when and how everything ties in with Fox. But, I don't know. The only way they could get be to buy DBZ (even movies) again, is if they do a total re-do dub even more accurate than Kai and Stereo quality for the Japanese track. Still gotta get the movies and original DB, but as far as Z goes we haven't gotten anything new that we know exists. I own the whole series proper and it's just kinda annoying to see the same thing released, again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again. They had something with the Level Sets, but that's about it. I'd re-buy GT and buy Dragon Ball and all of the movies if we get Dragon Boxes for those. I will buy the rest of Kai when it's out.ABED wrote:I say milk it for all it's worth. I don't care if I don't have to buy it. What I'm saying is this release is a waste of time. I don't understand why FUNi would release this when so many people were asking for Dragon Boxes. Literally, I don't understand this "We can't find Dragon Boxes on store shelves." But then you do this, and this looks like it would take up a lot of store shelf space. It's entirely unnecessary.ABED wrote:Then don't buy it! You are under no obligation to do so. Considering the runtime of the set, 60 is a bargain.ShadowDude112 wrote:Big whoop. Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
Even if a lot of people ask for Dragon Boxes, it's not something that's completely in their hands. They can't just snap their fingers, they have to get the license. This is something that's fully in their control. Maybe they're wrong, but they think there's a market for this release, and enough demand to justify the price tag.
Who cares if it's unneccessary? None of it is neccessary.

They have the movies! They can release more Dragon Boxes. In fact, this seems harder to release because they have to get the right to the Shuki Levy score, and a bunch of other dumb stuff this dub had. If they release the movies and people buy them, then we could see Dragon Boxes for the original Dragon Ball and GT. The reason this is a stupid release if because something so much better could actually be released instead.ABED wrote:Even if a lot of people ask for Dragon Boxes, it's not something that's completely in their hands. No one seems to know if that's the case that they have the movies and again, they don't have the license for the other dragon boxes. None of these things are easy decisions, but clearly they think this will sell. It may not be new for you, but many fans didn't grow up with this dub. I think the voices alone make it enjoyable. If they are just sitting on the movies, maybe it's because the Dragon Boxes didn't sell that well. I'm not in a big rush to buy that Dragon box. I have the singles of the movies that aren't cropped. I know the frame was drawn with cropping in mind, but I still prefer the full image, which the singles provide. I would like the Dragon Boxes for DB and GT, but I'm not holding my breath.ShadowDude112 wrote:They have the movies! They can release more Dragon Boxes. How about they go and redub DBZ movies 4-13 with the Ocean VAs? I'd buy that.
Well, some of them.

They said in their press release back in 2009 they had the Dragon Box versions of all of Z and the 13 movies. You know what that means? THEY HAVE THE MOVIES! They've had the movies for almost 4 years now, and have yet to release them. Which they should have done already. No, but it would make more sense for them to release the movies than this. That's the point I'm making, you just don't seem to get that. They have the movies, so why waste time releasing something that's not the movies?ABED wrote:ShadowDude112 wrote:So do you think they are just sitting on it to frustrate you or because they don't like money?ABED wrote: They said in their press release back in 2009 they had the Dragon Box versions of all of Z and the 13 movies.
