Logically, the season sets are a lot better.
Clearly they aren't, they're a terrible release. Worse than the previous releases.

I meant by his examples terns. Logically, those conditions would lead most people to buy the season sets.

Uhm, those conditions would be the same as someone choosing a shitty VHS version over an HD DVD version of a movie.

@Gaffer, totally unaware of that post. xD

I prefer the original 4:3 image, I like the Japanese audio and it's the clearest on the DBox, and I think the Dragonbook is really cool! I don't care that they cost more, I don't care that they're not all out yet, and I don't care about any other audio options. Therefore, logically, the Dragonbox is what I should choose.

It was never about most people. My example was about personal choice because the discussion was about personal choice.

Is that a clear enough explanation?

I also had no idea, that Freeza is working for FUNimation.
@Castor Troy I prefer this version better.

Castor Troy, great work.

It's unfortunate that we're just now getting word that the Dragon Boxes will be limited (although we don't know exactly how limited), when that might have been announced sooner to both inform fans and bolster sales. But hopefully, like we're speculating, it doesn't spell the end of the availability of the Dragon Box footage.
I can see their parachutes.

Caster Troy that video was hilarious.

I have all four Dragon Boxes and am pre-ordering them as they become available but this sucks for people who were holding out on getting them. You would think Funimation would have announced in the first place that these were a limited release.

Nobody else thinks that it's a bit of a kick in the nuts that NOW they decided to say it's a limited release after a year?

Damn. I can't watch the video that Castor made, because it says it's from the AB group, and I don't have rights to view it in my region or something.

Basically, it's the scene where Freeza blew Kuririn up. He used the Dragon Box footage with the Japanese audio, with fucked up subs :P and of course, the first NA DBox takes Kuririn's place.

It's all spin. They always meant to produce less because the demand was going to be less. Now that their plan has had a slight misfire, they're trying to use "Limited Edition" to make it sound like it wasn't an issue of underestimating demand.

Try this.

I lost it when they called the Dragon Box 'Kuririn'. Thanks, Castor Troy.

So they will keep producing the washed-out, cropped, heavily saturated, dubbed-centered version, and the Japanese-centered version wont.

Can you imagine the dub trolls ((I repeat, "Trolls")) are celebrating thinking this is a victory of the FUNimation's dub and remastering of DBZ over the original, "better" version?

You know, something like this?!

Maybe I'm old, out of the loop, or just not hip anymore. But what's "weeaboos" ?!

Edit: It seems kids don't say "hip" anymore.

Yeah, that has to be it. I don't think anybody expected the majority of people who bought the orange bricks to come back for more. We all figured only a relatively small number of people actually cared.

I still wouldn't worry too much about it. "Limited issue" as a term itself is stupidly vague. Even the mass produced singles are "limited issue" in the sense that now they're not in production anymore. I wouldn't worry about not being able to get a copy of any of the Dragon Box volumes second hand down the road. That kind of "limited issue" is a far cry from the Japanese Dragon Box "limited issue."

A derogatory term for Japanophiles/Otaku. In the context of DragonBall, usually it's used to imply someone likes the original version just because it's Japanese.

It's a term used by a certain breed of internet half-wit against those with the audacity to point out that the Japanese show said half-wit likes happens to be Japanese.

Oh, I don't know about that. There's certainly a brand of unwashed, socially inept "otaku" who devote themselves blindly to any and all things Japanese, despite not even vaguely understanding the culture. They might deserve the phrase.

Of course the irony is that people who would use the phrase "weeaboo" to deride them in the first place are equally unwashed and socially inept. It's all a big mess, and I guess the only thing to do about it is to not be an idiot.

While I agree with you on that, I don't think anybody deserves to be called one, just because "weeaboo" is such an annoying-sounding word that I think we'd all be better off it was stricken from the lexicon entirely. Ugh. Just reading it makes me want to throw something against a wall. Where did that word come from anyway? How could such an unpleasant-sounding word even be formed by human vocal cords?
