I meant the 4Kids/Saban version. They avoid that version.

Who avoids it? The kids? I would disagree because you can't expect every kid, especially the ones in 4Kids/Saban's target audience, to even realize it's edited from the original material and avoid the series for that reason alone.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:I meant the 4Kids/Saban version. I meant the 18 year old fans! LOL! I'm pretty sure kids love watching DBZKai on Vortexx.

I did saw one kid at Gamestop the other asking his dad to buy Dragon Ball Raging Blast (the first one) for him. Good to see more kids in my local area that like DBZ, but I do think Kai need more promotion if they want the show to be more popular.

I wonder how high will the ratings be for the Buu Saga on Nicktoons/Vortexx.

114M HOMES
VORTEXX reaches all broadcast TV homes in America every Saturday morning
+15% AT RETAIL
Approximately 15% of retail sales are from broadcast-only homes
HIGHEST PUT
Highest Kid PUT (persons using television) levels of the week!

I'm sad that Funimation and Bandai havent arranged anything toy wise! They could have gotten a lot more money!

Sorry for Bumping this YET AGAIN. But there is an interesting new development.
For those not in the know DBZKai was the crown jewel of Nicktoons, getting over 750.000 viewers. Now that its gone its lucky to get 400.000. I think that while Nicktoons may not have Toonami levels of Popularity, DBZKai DOES have an amazing ability to capture viewership. Now I cant wait for DBZKai's return to NIcktoons!

I just don't think Dragonball Z will ever be as popular as it was in the early 2000s no matter where it airs. It has reached its prime. I feel like kids today will just think the animation is too old for them to really care for it. The only way Dragonball will get new blood again with new fans is to either remake Z with new animation or making a new DB show. But until this year with the new BoG movie, the Dragonball franchise as a whole has been pretty stale. And the videogames can only take it so far, too.
Most Dragonball fans in america today are in their 20s. You will only find so many kids that have actually watched Dragonball Z at all, and not just heard about it.

This post speaks the truth. While DB is still doing well in Japan, I still find it a dead franchise in the US after 10 years. I still see casual people surprise that DBZ is still exist or that people still like DBZ. Dragon Ball has a niche market in the US since I feel like the recent home video releases like the orange bricks did well because of the nostalgia. You can't cash in on the nostalgia train forever.Daimakku wrote:I just don't think Dragonball Z will ever be as popular as it was in the early 2000s no matter where it airs. It has reached its prime. Re: Is Kai on Nicktoons becoming what DBZ was on Toonami?
I'm not sure I totally agree with this. Kai got a ho-hum reception in Japan, but American kids (and others across the world) were quite fond of it, as we all know given that it's the reason Buu is getting made for Kai. Sure, DBZ isn't the megahit it was at the turn of the 21st century, but that sort of business model just doesn't work as well in the New Tens. Back then it got more ratings than damn near anything else on cable, now with home video and online viewing, those are less pertinent. Plus, DBZ was fresh and different to Americans when we got it; a decade later, we've seen a pretty notable change in American media trying to catch the lightning in the bottle that was the turn of the century anime boon, and DBZ was undeniably the biggest part of that.Hellspawn28 wrote:While DB is still doing well in Japan, I still find it a dead franchise in the US after 10 years.

I sure hope that if it wasnt before, that it becomes it soon because Nicktoons could really use the help!
