I plan to get my order for this (and a handful of other things) in tomorrow or the next day-ish. Can't wait for it to get in, even if I do have a pile of other stuff I need to watch yet.

Curse you! *Shakes fist* I still need the rest of the manga, I only have the first 2 or 3 volumes.

I've been checking Amazon regularly myself and still can't pre-order it there yet either. I recall Lupin III: The Hemingway Papers not going up until pretty close to release either though.

It's bugging the heck outta me as to why Amazon still doesn't have this up for pre-orders considering they're getting really late for it as it'll be released later this month (July).
I just hope that by the time it's out it'll have a product page so that I can post my review there (I got a lot of shit for giving Mario Kart 8 a score of 3/5 but opinions, we all have).
So anyhow, for US residents = RightStuf and for UK residents = United Publications.

Even if you live outside USA, you can still order from Rightstuf, i did it plenty of times, and was never dissapointed with their service, i was little afraid, when i had to send tchem scan of my credit card, but fortunately, it wasn`t scam.

I personally have little interest in the original series. I mean, if it ever did get an English dub release, then naturally I'd buy it since it's related to Dragon Ball. Personally I'd love to see New Dr. Slump get released. I feel like FUNimation would be more willing to do New Dr. Slump because it's more recent, has numerous references to Dragon Ball (their cash cow), and has a much lower episode count and thereby doesn't require as strong of a commitment as the original series would.

Yeah, it's possible but for international buyers there might be custom fees involved which makes it cost a bit more than it should.

I hope they don't really pick New Dr. Slump because Arale-chan in that series is just another generic brunette girl and the animation doesn't look as natural as it did in the original Dr. Slump series. If they're gonna be releasing the series then fingers crossed it'll be the 81's.

Yeah, it is entirely possible for people outside the US to use RightStuf, but I know it's a lot trickier based on what a friend who used to live in Canada told me. He had to get a lot more to hit the 'free shipping' mark too - I think it was around $150 instead of $50 like it is for US residents.
I also hope that RS gets more Dr. Slump (I'd imagine the last five movies would be next), and I kind of want them to get both TV series honestly, even with some of the stuff I've heard about the second series.
Anyway, I just got this set ordered yesterday, along with a bunch of other stuff. Can't wait for it to get in.

I'll take any Dr. Slump I can get! The original TV series would be a HUGE project for Discotek, I think the closest they've done to that is Fist of the North Star, which is about 100 episodes shorter. That's, of course, what I'd like best, but I at least hope they can complete the movies.

Anyone here remembers the Kanzenshuu member
Ashura? According to what I've read on
FandomPost he designed the cover of this DVD release so not only did Herms contributed but also Ashura!
Thanks guys. I worked really hard (and probably way too long) to come up with something that looked cool & cute for this release. I really hope people pick this up so more comes out!
By any chance any other Kanzenshuu member worked on it too?
P.S.: I'm so happy to be supporting this release even if it means that we'll just get the films subbed in English, although I'd really like the 80's series too!

Read the thread.
Herms wrote:Basically, someone else did all the hard work of actually subtitling the movies, and all I had I do was look over the subs and make any changes I thought were necessary. Thank you for quoting, but there's nicer ways of reply to people? Thank you anyway.

FINALLY! Amazon has at last added Dr. Slump: The Movies (1-5) product to their catalogue.
Price: $26.96 (RightStuf has it for $18.99)
Rel date: July 29, 2014
Link:

I'm going to stick to United Publications as the price is lower than Amazon for me.

That's in English/be able to play on my DVD/Blu-ray player here in the US right?
Edit - Also I never seen the series only read the first manga. Will I spoil anything by watching these? I have plans on getting the other manga's later on.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

If by in English you mean the audio, afraid not - it's a sub only release (but for something as old and generally forgotten as Slump is, I'm just happy to be getting it period!). It is a US release though, so yeah, it'll play just fine in any of your DVD players.

Maybe the series might get released one day too! also is it okay if I watch these? won't be spoiling anything right?

Dr. Slump's not really a "spoilers" sort of series; new characters are introduced, and there's a marriage or two, but that's about it. If you've read/seen the Dr. Slump crossover in DB, then you should already by "spoiled" on everything in these movies.

These films feature Lunch's voice actress as Arale, correct? I know she did Arale in the 1st TV Show but not the 2nd one.

Yeah, with the exception of the second TV series and its movie, Mami Koyama has voiced Arale in all animated Dr. Slump media (and all video games... I think?).

Hmm...I dunno about
all video games, but for what it's worth, she did
reprise the role in Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Revenge of King Piccolo, plus J-Stars Victory Vs. So chances are that if she wasn't in any Slump games that actually had voicing to them, it would have been something that came out in the same time period as the second series (and likely meant to go along with it).
