Six months would be like what 24 chapters? I don’t think it’s unreasonable. If anything the Great Saiyaman stuff might have lasted a bit longer and ended up the endgame of the series

Saiyaman was never supposed to be an endgame. Toriyama drew it only to bide time until he thought up what he really wanted the arc to be about.
