What about the dragon ball? It sure looked HIGH-DEF!!!Tweaker wrote:Huh.
Judging by that trailer, this looks like it's going to be just as bad as I thought it was. Joy. :\
Seriously... what? What the hell was that? I see nothing about that trailer that even vaguely resembles Dragonball, save for Goku's gi--and even that's pushing it.
So nobody should take each other's opinions upon the film POSITIVE or NEGATIVE until we've all seen it. Okay, that sounds good to me.omegacwa wrote: That's fine and all. But no one will take your opinion seriously until you have seen the movie.
Example:
Man 1: "I just watched RoboCop last night, it was awesome!"
Man 2: "Robocop, that movie is horrible!"
Man 1: "Really, when did you see it?"
Man 2: " I only saw the teaser trailer, and I thought it looked dumb."
Man 1: "Why don't you see it and then tell me what you think"
Man 2: "Why would I waste my time seeing something that looks that stupid!"

It's a promotional video for the Live Action Dragon Ball movie set to release in April 2009. The video was recorded from a video camera that recorded the footage from a television which is probably why there is no sound. It's kinda obvious when you look at it.Tweaker said: What the hell was that?
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I just have to say how amusing it is to me how for the last several months, the hymn sung by the movie's "defenders" was always "You can't have an opinion til you've seen the trailer." and now that we've seen the first trailer, they fall back to "What do you mean the trailer sucked?! No! Now you have to see the whole movie until you can have an opinion."
I guess after we see the movie we'll have to wait until we hear the cast and crew's commentary on the dvd before we can get away with saying "that sucked".

I do very much agree with what you've stated. More so than any other topic (with the possible exception of the FUNimation remastered boxsets), hardly anything in recent DB fandom history approaches the level of arrogant-stubbornness as the opinions on both sides of this movie's outlook.MisterFlashdude wrote:I just have to say how amusing it is to me how for the last several months, the hymn sung by the movie's "defenders" was always "You can't have an opinion til you've seen the trailer." and now that we've seen the first trailer, they fall back to "What do you mean the trailer sucked?! I will once again remind everyone of where they're posting, and that everyone is absolutely entitled to their own opinion, and any justifications they want to have for those opinions.
To keep things on-topic (remember how to do that? ^_~), I haven't yet had a chance to check out this teaser/trailer/whatever. Will have to do so once I get home... really interested...

If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.
I don't believe I ever said wait till the trailer, although I could be wrong. But this still isn't a official trailer. It appears to be more of a quick promo reel/eye catch for people to come over to the booth.MisterFlashdude wrote:I just have to say how amusing it is to me how for the last several months, the hymn sung by the movie's "defenders" was always "You can't have an opinion til you've seen the trailer." and now that we've seen the first trailer, they fall back to "What do you mean the trailer sucked?! As I have said. I think it looks cool. A bit generic as some people have said, but it still looks cool and should at least be decent fun.
This is striking me more like what the "Ultimate" Marvel comics are to their original series. Modernized re-tellings. Not replacing or purposely mirroring the original stories, but not really meant to. Ultimate Spidey's "changes" have a good deal of similarities to those of this movie, come to think of it.

No, you haven't. Not that I've seen anyway. I was referring more specifically to past movie threads where posters were bashed for voicing dislike for the movie's specific details as they were being revealed.omegacwa wrote:I don't believe I ever said wait till the trailer, although I could be wrong. And as for whether or not it's "officially" a trailer... I'd say it is, whether you want to call it a "teaser trailer" or a "promo".

Except you seem to be basing your assumption on the premise that people form their opinions based solely on the fact it exists.omegacwa wrote:My main gripe is that people seem to be unwilling to accept the possibility that a movie based of Dragon Ball can be good, will simultaneously not being 100% faithful to the source material.
Most of the people proclaiming to dislike the movie have quite a few reasons to feel that way. Those reasons might not be very swaying to some people while at the same time being utterly movie-breaking to others.

It just looks like every other pseudo- kung-fu flick made by Hollywood in recent memory. I assume it will be comperable to The Forbidden Kingdom in terms of action and cinematography, but with a much better story. Nothing special, but nothing to get worked up over.
Had a similar conversation with my significant other about the new Indiana Jones flick. She feels that bad sequels poison a franchise, but I think good entries speak for themselves. No one screams and moans about Halloween 3 - 87, we just fondly remember the originality of the first one. If GT doesn't ruin your enjoyment of Z, then the live-action shouldn't affect you so much.
