Post by JAPPO » Wed Oct 01, 2008 12:50 pm

Trailer is here. Surprised no one made this thread (or maybe I'm blind)

If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Looked cool, but definitely was a teaser. Really wish it had sound and wasn't just a cell phone/camera on a tv video.

Well it was already being talked about in the London Expo thread. I don't think it's really a trailer though. Some people think it's just a promo so whatever comes out with Max Payne might be different. If only slightly. Anyway they didn't really show much and I had hoped they would have shown the Kamehameha. If not the attack itself then Goku getting ready to do it. From what I saw though it looked decent and at the very least the movie will have some entertaining action scenes. One thing I will say though is that aside from the Orange Gi and Chatwin holding the Dragon Ball you really wouldn't know this was a Dragon Ball movie. (Which is probably the problem a lot of people have with it) I can think of at least 10 users that will have some venomous things to say about all of this. Also to me it seems like Goku and Bulma are going to be the main focus of the story.

I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I find it funny that at the end it says "1st Ever Live Action Movie". I guess no one at Fox was exposed to everyone's favorite Chinese movie.

More likely they're trying to forget it exists. XD

Well, i hope thats not the trailer that comes out on October 17. I dont have anything against it, it look like an ok movie, with great effects but it doesn't really have the spirit of the series. I know its kind of unfair because it lasts less than a minute, but Fox knew what kind of fans DB has when they decided to make the movie. To not show a trailer that can show that the movie has the spirit of the series would be a mistake of Fox. So i really hope the trailer on October 17 is somewhat different, because if this is the trailer, there would be many angry fans, even if in the end the movie turns out a good one.

I'm a fan, I'm not angry. But me and Kaboom don't seem to be in the majority when it comes to DB fans.

That was a so so promo.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

They could have at least shown the Kamehameha but I guess you can't expect them to reveal their Trump Card so soon. :?

I wasnt pleased with it. Minus goku wearing orange and blue at the very end, nothing about that trailer jumps out as DragonBall to me.

I find it funnier that nobody thinks that any live action movies existed period before this. :P

I like that this trailer already has a video response by VegetaDTX...

The trailer's... what I thought it'd be.
Though the scene of Goku dancing and kissing Chi-chi is particularly off-setting to me.

Dancing? What part was that?

About 56 seconds in. With Goku in the suit and Chi-chi in a dress that she'll apparently fight in at 58 seconds in.

I suppose it really isn't enough time to say they're dancing, so I'll admit I'm jumping to conclusions what with the attire and embracing...

For some reason this movie reminds me of the 1995 Mortal Kombat live action film that had Christopher Lambert starring in it.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

And the South Korean one. Let us not forget that under appreciated little gem.

So yeah, that would technically make this no less than the 3rd live action attempt.

This kinda reminds me of when the ads for Taiketsu tried to claim that it was the first DBZ game to feature Broli as a playable character, forgetting about Super Butouden 2 more than a decade prior.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

It didn't really make me excited to see this movie or anything. Perhaps I'll enjoy it better with sound... but overall, this teaser wasn't pleasing at all.

Is it me, or did it give off the impression that it takes place on its own Earth? Kind of like how DB-Earth isn't our Earth.

@Saiyan-Prof: Is becoming Raiden the result of the ending of the first Highlander movie?
