I guarantee you I'm not looking forward to this movie in any way.

The moon? SERIOUSLY? He would become an Oozaru every night!! That part of the anime was absolutely stupid. I'm glad they changed it.
The Full Moon, so it'd be every month.

And if the eclipse does make him go Oozaru, then that is horribly stupid.

Solar eclipses are RARE. So rare, no other planet in our solar system even has them. They can only happen if the apparent size of a moon is the same as the apparent size of the planet's sun. Then you wait years and years for the orbit of the moon to wind up so it gets between the sun and the planet. Then you have to be in a very narrow path, and at the maximum, an eclipse can last for only eight minutes.

Yeah, that's why I'm thinking it has to do with Piccolo's release from imprisonment. It takes something much less common and harder to utilize to do it.

I really, really doubt that.

I think Mai releases Piccolo.

Let me get this straight then... you want the movie to be all potty jokes? I just don't know what you people want. I just don't know.
I'm just saying you're taking the series a little seriously. Seriously, why change the Ouzaru transformation trigger? The '...for little boys...' line was also a counter to the 'lack of females'. It's not sexist, stories for little boys tend to be about little boys.

Also, the reference to Son being the Monkey King is thrown out the window far too quickly but placing him in high school not to mention it changes his character and from the looks of things made him into a gutless wuss who doesn't hunger for fights but rather 'attention'.

Well yeah, judging by the trailer this may be KFH-esque. Which wouldn't necessarily be surprising for obvious reasons. Though when I watched both of those movies you mentioned, especially KFH, I did think it would rock as a DB (not Z) movie.

Considering they're tired clichés otherwise, maybe that was for the best...
Just to play devil's advocate, about 75% of what you listed did eventually show up in the story. Granted, not with Goku or in the Daimao Saga...

And so far, I thought the buzz was that the school-based bits with the jocks/bullies/whatever and the romance were gonna have around as much prevalence as the equivalent BS in the Transformers LAM. Which I, personally, can tolerate in that limited capacity. Kinda like how I love Forbidden Kingdom, but the Warriors of Virtue setup is basically a 15 or so minute chore one has to get through before you can start having fun (unless, of course, you have the DVD).

It actually kinda reminds me of about 90% of the RPGs I've ever played. They tend to have some snore-inducing "get used to the mechanics" or "let's set up the basics of the plot" or "let's show how innocent everything was before the later conflict shows up" first area that must be slogged through before the real adventure starts.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

Me too. Needing the eclipse to do so for some reason.

Unless they change Ozaru so that it's not a normal Saiyan thing, and is a rare mutation that only happens during eclipses (which might work if they entirely omit tails), it doesn't seem likely that will be the cause. I doubt the eclipse would be necessary for using the DragonBalls or something, either.

That's the same impression I've gotten. One way or another, info has said it's going to be extremely short, and likely have no real bearing on the meat of the story. If that's truly the case, then I'll be more than capable of dealing with it (or even bringing myself to enjoy it, if it's funny or allows Goku to show off among "normies") until the good stuff starts.

I love how one line of dialogue automatically makes Goku a wimp. ONE. FREAKING. LINE.

Would the trailer be as exciting if he said, "He's no match for me. The movie might as well not even be made since I can defeat him in 1 minute."

...Right. Trailers are supposed to show that the antagonist is a SERIOUS. THREAT.

One line of dialogue..... not even in proper context...

High school sounds very goofy.
Jocks and bullies? Yeah, that's "goofy stuff"...

That's also the only one we've got.

It's the way the line is delivered. Son Gokû loves adventure, this film does not seem to depict that in anyway.

I love how you all eat the shit that Toei and FUNimation make.

Making a remastered DVD costs what? How much does the packaging cost? And you paid what, 40 dollars for it?

Yet you think you won't pay 10 dollars to see a $100 million dollar live-action movie adaptation supported by a major movie studio?

...

Speak for yourself. I haven't bought any remastered sets since the first one (and that was only out of morbid curiosity). As far as the movie goes, I'll wait for reviews before I make a dive to see it. The trailer hasn't really convinced me. It's only made some of my concerns even worse.

It's doesn't matter what anyone here says. Six months and 11 more threads later everyone here is going to have pretty much the same opinion. That's why it's futile to get so passionate about it. All we're pretty much doing is saying "Yes it is!" and "No it isn't" back and forth. :?

Whuh? ^^;
Putting the characters in highschool? - Gohan
Having the main character be unpopular? - Gohan
Bullied by jocks? - Filler Gohan?
Later involved with the popular chick? - Gohan
Who used to date one of the jocks (if I keep track of this thing, and maybe I don't)? -Videl?
Giving the lead (I think?) female character twin guns so she can "kick ass"? - Pfft. A lead female. Right.
A prophecy out of a bad Tolkien fanfiction? - The Super Saiyan.
A shapeshifting female right hand for the main bad guy? - Puar? :P
Leather, leather, leather? - ChiChi. Mmm...

By the way

I don't support the high school decision. But I'm not gonna say the movie sucks just because I don't like one freaking idea. For all I know it could be amazing in the proper context.

Hey, JAPPO. Just so we're clear, I'm not as against as this movie as I seemed on your forum. I was drinking and I felt like trolling.

My apologies. Still kinda funny though...
