I think because I read that it contains a bunch of name changes to Gundams because they were too racist and blasphemous, but the dubs might be different, I don't care right now though, I'll probably pick up the anime legends boxes when I can, Wing too, and maybe even Zeta.SSJ2bardock wrote:Then how can you say you want a "complete" Gundam collection without the greatest series of the franchise! Feel the force of one thousand Sekiha Tenkyokens and shame on you for leaving out Domon Kasshu. (Sarcasm)The Time Traveller wrote:Nah, just all 10 volumes of Gundam, then 4 volumes of Zeta Gundam, 1 of the French/UK Gundam Wing, then two Chinese Gundam Seed boxes, and then French/UK Gundam Seed Destiny volumes 1 and 2.SSJ2bardock wrote:@Time Traveler
Is that G Gundam I see there!? If it is, then I envy you!
I wanna complete my Dragon Ball, Gundam and Macross collections more than anything else right now.
At times I'd start saving money for the Australian DB boxes too, then figure "I should get something else, the season set will be out soon... maybe..." then buy something else and regret it, I've done that 5 times now.

I'll be adding some Toys to my collection sooner or later, I'd have the Luffy/Goku 40th JUMP toys right infront of DB and One Piece.
And of course, I'll be getting the Kanzenban and DBox singles once I'm back in college (don't ask why at that particular time.)
But when I'm living on my own eventually I'd probably just think I have more space to fill, my room is oozing right now as it is.

Sorry if I'm being a complete n00b on this, but what's the big deal about the Australian dragonball? Exactly. The only difference between the sets (aside from region, which you can get around easily) is that they're actually more available then the practically out-of-print US releases.SSJ2bardock wrote:Sorry if I'm being a complete n00b on this, but what's the big deal about the Australian dragonball? Heck, I went to Frys yesterday and was surprised to see that the FUNi singles and DB Saga 2-disc sets they've had for so long are now all gone

Basically it's all of Dragonball uncut and bilingual in two box sets, including the first 13 episodes which were never released uncut in the United states.SSJ2bardock wrote:

The best thing about these sets is they are still in production (though probably not for much longer) where as the US releases have been out of print for some time.
So if you want Dragonball, you really can't go wrong with 153 episodes for under 200 dollars, you get your Japanese version, you get your FUNimation dub (with the original Japanese music) its a great deal.

My collection's rather weak compared to pretty much everybody else's, but I'll post what I have anyway. It's not too interesting, especially considering I don't have any ultra super rare Japanese items or anything. Oh well. I would take pictures of all of it, but I can't find any of the interesting stuff, and the things that I can find is stuff that everybody's seen a billion times already, like DVDs.
DVDs
- Dragon Ball: Tournament Saga (I really wish I had bought more of these when I had the chance)
- Dragon Ball: Movies 2-4
- DBZ: Season One (I bought this to see if the cropping truely bothered me, which it did. No more for me, thanks!)
- DBZ: Ultimate Uncut Volumes 1-8 (Damn you, FUNi, for canceling them midway)
- DBZ: Three Cell Games DVDs.
- DBZ: Episodes 195-291 on VHS (Edited, dub-only. Back when I was a dubbie. Awww.)
- DBZ: Movies 1-13 (1-3 on DVD, 4-5 on VHS, 6-13 on DVD, plus the uncut FUNi/Pioneer dub of movie one on VHS)
- DBZ: TV Specials 1-2
- DBGT: Volumes 9 & 15.
- DBGT: TV Special
Manga
- Dragon Ball: Original Viz Volumes 1-13, 16
- Dragon Ball: VizBig Volume 1
- Dragon Ball Z: VizBig Volume 1
- Dr. Slump: Volume 1 (Not necessarily DragonBall, but it's Toriyama)
Cowa! & Sand Land are on the way too, since those kinda count.
Video Games
- Dragon Ball Z: Legacy of Goku
- Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors
- Dragon Ball Z: Collectable Card Game (Such a waste of money in hindsight, but then again, most of these video games are)
- Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22
- Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout
Got these in 2001, I think, when I was like, 10. "Final Bout" and "Ultimate Battle 22" are both the Japanese versions, so I guess these count as my "ultra super rare Japanese items," even if the games aren't too good. "Legendary Super Warriors" for the Game Boy Color is definitely my favorite of these few games that I've played. I actually still think it's good even though my tastes as a gamer have improved. TONS of playable characters, goes through the whole storyline, it's awesome.
CDs
- Dragon Ball Z: American Faulconer Soundtrack 1 (more merchandise from my dubbie days.)
Actually, most of this stuff was bought when I was but a young dubbie. I hope to increase this part of my collection soon, though.
Magazines
- I own a bumload of Beckett DBZ Collector Issues. I own two copies of the first issue, and to this day, that issue is probably the most sentimental DragonBall item I own for one reason: they actually published the fanart I sent to them in it! It's got my name next to it and everything! This blew my mind when I was little. I still remember flipping through the issue at Kroger, seeing my fanart, and running across the store to show my mom. It was awesome.
Cards
- HUNDREDS of Collectable Card Game cards. I seriously want to go back in time and punch my 11-year-old self for wasting so much money. I honestly could have saved hundreds of dollars had I not been collecting these. I feel the same about my Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. I shudder every time I think about them.
Action Figures
- Too many to count, also purchased many years ago when I was about 11. My prized possession out of these is an old figure of normal child Gohan. I couldn't find it anywhere in stores until my mom got it for me as a present, and to this day, the only one I've seen of its kind is the one I own. It's probably not rare at all, but it was/is huge to me. I also have a, like, 15 inch figure of Goku holding baby Gohan. That was always kinda cool.
I've also got assorted stickers, including some really cool holographic sticker versions of some Cardass cards that I got out of a machine at a bowling alley.
So yeah, that's my collection. Mostly, since action figures and cards don't interest me anymore, even from a collector's viewpoint, I really just want the manga and DVDs, since I just basically only want to own the series now. Still, I look back on everything in my collection with happiness (except for all those damn cards *shudder*). Hmmm, I think I'll go play "Legendary Super Warriors" again now...
By the way, I've been thinking of buying a few soundtracks for the series, and I've had a few questions. Since this thread is about our collections and how they develop, I hope it's not too off-topic for me to post these questions here.
1.) CDs are region-free, correct? So, if I import some Japanese soundtrack discs, they'll play in my car radio/Region 1 DVD player/computer/etc., right?
2.) CDJapan is a reliable store to purchase from, right?

Box 1
Box 2
Madman ship internationally, but due to the stock being on order, it will be two to three weeks before they actually ship your order.
If you'd rather nab them on Ebay, both boxes are available, here's a couple I found:
Box 1
Box 2
They're quite easy to find on Ebay, and most of the sellers seem willing to ship internationally.
These are great sets, and I couldn't be happier with mine I urge everyone interested to snap them up before it's too late and they're replaced with "remastered" season sets.

@Captain Awesome: thank you so much! You certainly live up to your name.
Anyway, on the topic: I really should take a picture of my DragonBall shelf. I've got all the kanzenban, Landmark, Forever, Daizenshuu 1-7 and 10 all perfectly filling up a single shelf, so that there's no wasted space but it's not too tight either. It's a thing of beauty, I tell you. One of these days I need to buy a camera...

I think they're mostly uncut, the same for the identical US release really.Freeza93 wrote:I see you bought the UK versions of the manga. I couldn't wait for them to release DBZ and just bought the American releases. BTW, are your Dragonball volumes uncut?
On another note, woot Super Mario bros. the movie.
I remember when Dragon Ball was announced for the UK, Gollancz made a super fun day called Monthly Manga Monday, where they released something every first Monday of the month.
It was an awesome time...
I'm definitely going to buy the first DB box from Australia as soon as I can now, I HAVE TO!
I'll probably buy them from Sanity or something since they take Paypal.

Hehe, I have so many freaking cards. But I still quite love them- the pokemon cards almost more than the DB ones because they just seem to look cooler. The DBZ cards are vastly screencaps- my pokemans are original stuff. I stick to the first 151 with a lean towards mewtwos and fire types. As for the DBZ cards, I used to get whatever I could but now I just stick to nameccians.MagicBox wrote: Cards

And yeah, CDs are Region-free, so you can pop it in your CD Player/Computer. CD Japan is, IMO a good place to buy DB CDs. But ohter people may say YesAsia.
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Nah, it's Gohan from the Saiyan & Artificial Human Sagas. I'm not sure where it is at the moment, but here's a (low-quality) picture of it.Velasa wrote:Oh, and i'd love to see a picture of that Gohan toy you're talking about. Is it dragonball hat Gohan?

This is one of my favorite Gohan characters. They never put this costume in the video games and it pisses me off to no end! Then again which category would you put him in, Kid or Teen, and if you put him in Teen then his hair would look strange while SSJ.MagicBox wrote:Nah, it's Gohan from the Saiyan & Artificial Human Sagas. One- 'Teen' Gohan is what- 11?? That has always annoyed the hell out of me. Sayiaman-era is a teen, not cell-era.
Two- little kid, about 5. So he would be kid Gohan. And didn't one of the recent games have ittle Gohan with his white headband in that gi as a character? I thought I remembered seeing screencaps of him.
