Those are the Official R2 DBZ Dragonbox singles. They are the real deal.
And in Japan they retail for $40 bucks each. That's one of the biggest deals on Dragonball material I have ever seen...I can't wait until I turn 18 and move out so that I'm allowed to start buying Dragonball material!
You're really not allowed to? That sucks...

Ya, pretty much. I have a few tankoubon and video games and season sets that I bought in person, but I can't buy anything online because there's no way to hide it. It's tough, but I only have to wait 3 more years!

So why do your parents object to you buying DragonBall stuff?

Yeah, why is that?

My Parents know about me liking Dragonball, but they don't think anything of it. I don't have to "hide" it from them, that's for sure.

*I have a feeling that it's because it's "Satanic" and "Evil" because my Friend's Mom was freakin insane about Dragonball and even Pokemon to such drastic measures as to not even let that kind of stuff in their house.*
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

Man, I hate that kind of thing. I remember some of the letters EGM got claiming Pokemon had hidden Satanic and/or sexual themes back when it was at its height of popularity in the US. There were a bunch of crazy websites like that as well. I don't remember any for DragonBall though.

My Aunt wouldn't let my cousins play pokemon because of psychic pokemon.

Oy, My friend's mom was worse, Dark-types were the culprit.

Back on topic, I'm going to be ordering the new Super Survivor CD tomorrow, and when I do get it, I may do a review of it.

I'm not old enough to order ANYTHING. But my mom says that she'll use her Amazon account to order the Daizenshuu for me. She knows that I've loved Dragonball since I was a child.

I hate that too, it makes absolutely no sense. The people that are so worried about this don't realize their behavior is fanatical and screwing up their kids more than any children's show would.

It's very hard for me to explain, seeing as I hardly understand it myself, but I think that it mainly revolves around the fact that it is a cartoon that they know nothing of and that I am 15 years old and (in their eyes especially) beginning to enter the adult world.

My History: My awareness of the show didn't start until about 1 and a half years ago when it was on TV only once a week, but it went off the air after about a month or two, so it wasn't anything too noticeable in my every day life. Then I began borrowing some DBZ tankoubon volumes from a friend and reading it once in a while, then my brother and I got Budokai Tenchaichi (which we played about once every day or two), and I did a bit of surfing the web for DBZ related material (though I wasn't spending more than 6 or 7 hours a week on anything related to the show). I think it was when they started finding that 80% of the stuff in my history had the word "Dragonball" in it (my parents are pretty much control freaks that regularly check my history as well as every other part of my life) that they started voicing discontent towards my interest in it, fearing that it was in some way beginning to control my life.

There were times when my brother would go to Borders to get his friend (who gave us most of our tankoubon for my brothers birthdays) a birthday present and he would choose to get him one of the manga volumes; but my mom would always refuse and say stuff like "We're not going to get him that crap". There were times when my mom would see me on the computer looking at pictures of Super Saiya-jins and other stuff and randomly say that it is time for me to get off of the computer...but I knew it was because of what I was looking at and how in a misconstrued way it disgusted her.

It's been little comments and negative remarks towards the show from my parents that always remind me of how much they detest the show and my interest in it.

Why They Object to Dragonball: I have always wanted to know the full answer to this, but I feel that I will never know. All that I know is that they have a strong dislike towards the show and it is based mainly off of their unawareness and lack of understanding of the show and a stereotypical mentality of "cartoons are for kids and it's pathetic for you to be so interested in them". I've always wanted to confront them with this matter but I am afraid of how they will react to it. Trying to convince someone who is so ignorant to the depth and maturity and well established wonder of the Dragonball universe that the show is not something that is in anyway going to have a negative effect on me as a person is a nearly impossible task.

*I guess the best analogy for the situation is that my parents see my mature passion towards Dragonball as a self destructive obsession.*

Dragonball (despite being my favorite thing in this world) is not a visibly major part of my life. I just finished junior high where I made the honor roll, varsity wrestling, football and soccer and had an active social life with many close friends (in person too, not just you guys); so it's not like this has had any kind of negative effect on my life in any way what so ever.

Thank you guys so much for letting me get this little rant off of my chest, and giving me an audience that I can at least tell myself is reading this.

I know where your coming from, I myself am not a person who you would think likes anime. All the people I hangout with at school and what not are not anime fans. I was on my highschool baseball team last year and I hang around with what you would call "the in crowd". I know two people that actually like anime that I talk about it with and that's it. I don't say anything about it to my parents and they don't know I watch anime, the only thing they know is that I still buy the DBZ games. And the part about it being a childish thing to have an interest in is what people I know think too. A few days ago my brother's girlfriend was over and I was in the basement playing BT3 and they came down and saw me playing and she said, "Is that Dragonball Z, you still play that?". If I was more open about my liking of Dragonball at school my social status would go way down and that's sad. So, I'm a self proclaimed "closet anime fan".

I'd like to express just how much I loathe the whole American attitude towards animation. It is not all kiddy bullshit- idiots just like to quash anything vaugely serious. For the children.

Good luck to both of you in getting out from under that. This is a wonderful little fandom, it really shouldn't need to hide so deep in a hole.

It's a sad world where you have to hide your interests for acceptance. I don't think I could ever let myself do that. Just walking into my apartment you can see I love Dragon Ball. *looks at DB shelf* But that doesn't mean I don't have a regular life. I've loved it since I was young and that will never go away. SSJRambo, you should definitely talk to your parents, I mean it's really ridiculous that you can't even have your own interests because your parents are ignorant to it. I know there's not much you can do at 15, but it's really not fair to you. Explain that it has no affect whatsoever on your life, it's just something you enjoy in your spare time and just because they don't understand it it doesn't make it "crap." Sorry for the little rant, it just bothers me to hear of something like that. Good luck, and don't let anyone dictate your interests. (Especially when it's something as harmless as Dragon Ball :P ) I mean, I could see if you were into drinking and drugs or something, but man, it's Dragon Ball!

Yeah ask them why they hate it. If they hate because it's not a cartoon. You know blood and stuff. Show them nerd Gohan and say this guy he inspires me. One day I too want to become a great scholar.

But if they hate it because it's cartoon. Show the blood and middelfingers haha.

JK that was a joke. The main point is just that you talk with your parents. Explain them. Hope it works out.

Maybe thats what he should do? Drink and drugs. Then when he goes back to Dragonball his parents will be delighted :P .But really, since your 15 you'll probably only have to wait another year or two at the most before you can start dictating a lot more things in your life anyway. Teenage rebellion is just around the corner.

I'm glad my parents were never like that. Though I did have to haggle with my mom a bit before she let me get the Ghost in the Shell manga when I was 13.

Anyway, SSj_Rambo, I agree with the others that the best thing for you to do is talk with your parents, and maybe point out all the bad things you could have been interested in instead of DragonBall.

I have never really hid any of my interests from my parents. My entire dragonball collection is on display in my room, and I still watch episodes/the movies when they are home, nobody seems to mind, and I am 22, lol. I would move out but then I would have to pay bills, uck.
Some interests I just don't tell my parents about anymore cause my mom always follows with the same statement "You need to get a better job!"
Speaking of people hiding there interests, apparently Kinofourpaws' parents are against her working on the Tree of Might dub, isn't that odd? I mean, it's just for fun.
Hey, SSJ Rambo, I too was on the Wrestling team once upon a time ago. I have always been a avid Pro Wrestling Fan, and I have been trained and Wrestled 3 Pro Matches so far.
People always tell me I should do something art related for a job, because I am apparently "really good". But I always tell them, hey if there was job where I got to draw what I wanted all day, Sign me up!

Anyway, back on topic, I order stuff all the time online and don't really tell people, I am usally home when the mail man comes (I work mostly nights) so I can pick up anything I order without anyone even noticing.

I should have some new pics up of my stuff within a month, I have got some new stuff coming so I will have to wait till then.
