Don't count on it, he's undoubtedly had to draw a lot of designs for this arc, even if it's not as many as we initially thought. He didn't bother with the last arc, even when there were several episodes that could have used touch-ups from him. Most of those were Kitano's episodes, which seems to be his favorite guy to work with, so yeah, I definitely wouldn't expect him to show up in the tournament unless it's an emergency.
Yes it would be great if he could return and help with some episodes.
I don't know how he is doing with action animation nowadays but supervising for him should be easy.

I doubt he gets episodes with Kitano because he is his favourite guy. Probably, he chooses the most loose supervisor, who won't boss him around

There were other great cuts.
I remember there were a few in the beginning, nothing too good though.

This was a decent looking episode, this is how an average episode of Super should look like. Higashide being Higashide is always awesome.

About the ED, I love it. Yamamuro's art is really good.

Higashide being corrected by Yashima is the weirdest fucking thing in the world.

Anyways, I wonder if this scratch mark particle effect is going to become a common thing for blasts;

Yeah, I was like... Is this Yashima or Higashide? I thought Higashide's scenes are always not corrected. And it just straight looked like Yashima doing action scenes, but those movements are really Higashide.
I'm bad at English and still learning. If there's anything wrong, please correct me. :D

Nah, Higashide's action is almost always corrected.

Yeah, I wonder if Higashide only gives very rough work and the supervisor has to draw the designs or something because what that man does is unnatural.

I love these two close-ups of Goku and Krillin:

What also made them great was that awesome orchestral rendition of the latest Super opening theme playing in the background.

Yeah, thats probably the case, considering how often he works on episodes, I doubt he has any time to polish his key animation.

The fight choreography, storyboarding, directing is really good, like rains and stuff.

Also, is that Yokoyama clean-up? Or is that Yashima focusing these shots?

I think it's save to assume it's Yokoyama, those images have none of Yashima's traits.

After saying how often Goku looks weird in Super, this episode had good art though and some good shots of him too :)

It looks cool. I just assumed that they added it to show the rain going fucking crazy because of the two beams clashing.

Ahh.. That's the rain, I thought these effects were just the wind slicing. Lol.

I wish it would actually rain too in the Tournament

I dont like that Pic of Goku, Looks like the image was drawn and then flipped, the balance is off. I noticed it myself when drawing and having to flip something.
Can somebody Flip it horizontally and see if it looks better? not near my Pc with Photoshop on it.

EDIT: i actually just noticed the real problem. I looked at it. It's consistently drawn, and shaded

The problem is the ear is too high up, the top of the ear draws an imaginary diagonal line between it and the bottom edge of the nose, and the shadow/curvature on the chin. it visually skews the image. the bottom of the ear (which on a normal face naturally lines with the bottom of the nose) is where the bottom of the eye is for some reason, and the top of the ear, is god knows where.

Drop the ear down, and we're golden

Anyway I could write a Mother's Basement esque breakdown of the rooftop scene, was really good, though the rain is such a cheesy cliche that it makes me kinda sad it had to be relied on, and lo, and behold it only last as long as the fight despite the fact that the entire sky is dark, seriously how does weather work in these kinds of things.

most annoying part is there was a solid moment where (like in one Punch Man) the storm clouds wer eknocked away by a character's poersonal action. when 18 knocked Goku's blast up, gaining the 'upper-hand' the blast broke the clouds. couldntve been too much to simply have the clouds and rain break there could it? would have added to the symbolism.

The shots of Goku dodging krillin's blast were nice as well, overall really nice episode, and really glad production seems to be working itself out so well -even some of the janky art. But all this does is make me yearn for a YuYuHakusho style dark tournament of power. the battle royale kills it for me.

The original looks better to be honest. Probably because I'm not used to Goku's hair looking like that.

So apparently there is going to be 2D animation in what we thought was going to be full 3d animated series from Toei. 70% 3D. and 30% 2D. Apparently the 3D production is taking really long. It will start on September 7. Hopefully it takes no animators way from Tiger Mask or Super. More info is here.

Edit: Actually there is a possibility that there will be more 2D as the time goes on, but those stats are for #1. They are apparently also running into budget problems with 3D.

I'm guessing that 30% is mainly going to be close shots of characters.
