Well, while you're obviously light years ahead of me in terms of knowing specs and the like, if the box does apparently say it has a DD 2.0 Mono track...well, how is it moronic to expect a DD 2.0 Mono track to be processed by your player/receiver? Not everyone, including myself, knows the Dolby specifications like the back of their hand.
Now expecting anything to
differ between the two channels would definitely show ignorance.
In any case, if FUNi did elect to just throw a 1.0 Mono track on the disc, you're not being deprived of anything. Your receiver should be more than capable of taking that signal and sending it to both your R and L speakers. Still, I'd be interested in seeing if FUNi did in fact just do a 1.0 channel mono track, since most discs I've seen (valid or not) have used a DD 2.0 channel mono track. It'd be strange of them to change their method this late in the lifespan of DVD.

We knew to take "nothing changed" a little short of literally from the beginning. Most of us expected the episodes to be the same without them messing with the colors or anything. To go as far as the Dragonbook almost being identical and the discs and menus to look almost identical is above and beyond what a lot of us expected.

That said, let's all just drop the argumentative, needless, pointless bullcrap right now, and get back on topic, alright? That means NO more responses on the matter, no last words... zilch. Stop. Now. Or I'll just start editing or deleting posts accordingly.
I f*cking meant it. And not just for the argument then, either. For good. I've already removed some of the tripe, so quit being jackasses. I'm not going to lock
another DragonBox thread because you people can't seem to be civil to each other.
May I ask a question? Why did you remove my comments and not his. He called me a dummy, and said he called my replies one of the dumbest he's ever read. How is that being civil? It seems that everywhere I go I get penalized because I'm the new guy (First Wikipedia where someone was wiki-stalking me and got in trouble, and now here). Also, if have to lock this thread, don't just blame others but GoC.
An interviewer asks, "The soundtrack in Sonic 3 has become legendary. Is it true that you worked with Michael Jackson on it?" Takashi Iizuka kills all of our hopes and dreams by replying, "You know, those are just rumors, and SEGA does not want to say anything about them. So they will forever be just rumors..." WHY!?

Exactly my point. I'm not expecting anything to sound better but its just very odd. The only way to force the audio thru 2 channels is using that DSP sound field. But I never had to do this in the past because all of the other discs were ALWAYS encoded 2 channel mono. So this is something I expected naturally. But to my surprise, its definitely 1 channel mono as stated when having the info on display while running the DVD.
Maybe I got caught up in all the hype but I expected an exact replica of the Dbox. 1 channel mono compared to 2 channel mono is not a replica. And as I've stated, its not my setup because I just played Season 3 of the orange bricks in the same settings and it was 2 channel mono being decoded and stated in the info.

DBZfan, the reason your comments have been removed is because whereas GoC has SOME moderate informational content, yours as of recent have been mainly attacks on him. While I don't agree on his immediately jumping to calling you an idiot, you're starting to convince me he may be right. I'd hate to see you penalized over something soon.
I've never noticed targeting a newbie. Please, PLEASE don't give yourself a bad name so soon for playing the victim.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
This kinda got overlooked when I posted it the first time, so I figure if anyone wants to see (as fast as this thread is moving) I'd post it again:
ON-TOPIC HERE
Hey, guys. I noticed from the screenshots waaaay earlier in the thread that the menu is in 16:9. However, if played on a 4:3 TV (like I'm playing it on right this moment) the menu will appear in 4:3 rather than letterboxing. I think that's actually pretty cool that they did that. Has FUNi made a menu like that for any of their other Dragonball releases?
I know this isn't a great picture, but here's an example of what I'm talking about.

That's awesome. I didn't even notice that.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

A few studios moved to that awhile back.
It's one of those oddities that generally aren't commented on, because it's a bit to much of a pain to check for it, and it doesn't REALLY change anything.
Interesting none the less.

As for Kendamu's post: Please don't consider this a stupid question, but how do they make it so the screen changes? Are they certain settings that format the menu? I'm confused.

This is probably off topic, but given that the Dragon Box has come into existence here (something many never expected), does that mean the chances of a domestic release of Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return have become better?
Not a problem.

It's a digital flag they can turn on in the menu, although it requires careful programming of the active zones of the menu.
It's similar to how widescreen video knows if it needs to squeeze itself and generate black bars, or stretch itself for a widescreen TV.

While not being specific on the issue, at Otakon where the DBox was announced it was said that they're working on "getting that." "That" could either be Kai or the Special. FUNi's probably going after both.

Thank you for the explanation. They should have done this for the DB and GT remastered sets since some people complained about the super widescreen menu! Wait... they should've just used a full-screen menu... but then again they could have made it widescreen for HDTV's and full for others

Other than Right Stuf, has any one heard or confirmed any stores that are selling the DBox early? I get my Holiday bonus tomorrow and I want to pick this baby up... I've read maybe FYE or Best Buy would be good bets?
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Haven't heard anything yet, but I am going to check out FYE this weekend for the DBox (and/or DB Season Two).

I picked mine up today at a local bestbuy. Be prepared to spend $75.55 after taxes though

I guess I read the free shipping thing incorrectly. I thought if it was over that price the shipping was free.
If I choose a free shipping, it'll take a looooong time!
And with the fastest shipping service, I had to pay a total of $97.97.
And therfore, I went to the middle. Pay a little, get it quicker.
It's still cheaper than $80.
