Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
No way they'll revive some old irrelevant villain that featured in the series.
It's going to be a new character, perhaps a former God of Destruction.
There should be a limit to, who you can revive, because evil people have their souls reincarnated after being cleansed in Hell. It wouldn't make any sense to bring Majin Buu back for example, because he has already been reincarnated as Uub. And if it's a guy who's supposed to have been dead for thousands of years for example, there's no way it would take that long to get his soul cleansed.
It could be a guy, who was sent to Heaven as punishment or something like Dabra was, which inadvertenly made it possible to revive him.
It would be cool, if it's that guy in the silhouette in DB Xenoverse, who might be a God of Destruction from another universe(or just before Beerus) or attendant to a God of Destruction.

I've been thinking
People have been talking about the original super saiyan god but how about a son (or descendant) of the super saiyan god who had inherited the god power (like goten and trunks basically inherited super saiyan) so this saiyan doesn't have to use pure hearted saiyans to unlock the form he has it inside of him (sort of like the legendary super saiyan is a genetic transformation) except instead of being good this saiyan was evil however they somehow kill him
Goku hears about it but, not knowing about how the son was, revives him

We don't know if the power of SSJG is hereditary like SSJ is due to their methods of attainment being completely different. It can work in Goku's case since he managed to make it his base power but if the previous SSJG was unable to do what Goku did with it, I would assume that Saiyan's child would not be any stronger or weaker than it normally would. It would be like comparing Bra to Multiverse Bra.Dbzk1999 wrote:I've been thinking

Just like maybe him unlocking the form itself changed his genetics I mean he couldn't access the form again obviously but it sorta resided itself inside himKentalSSJ6 wrote:We don't know if the power of SSJG is hereditary like SSJ is due to their methods of attainment being completely different. I've been kind of expanding more on it
Say the child was taken to another universe and trained by another god of destruction in order to harness his power until the two battle to the death (to sorta take the gods place) but when he's about to finish the god he decides he can't because he's grown attached to the god, then the god kills the saiyan for showing weakness. Being killed and feeling betrayed by a father figure results in him growing a hatred towards the gods Of destructions but as he's dead he can't enact anything, that is, until goku revived him

Wasn't the original SsG killed in battle? How would his son get SSG in his DnA?

When I say old I mean in a sense that DBZ is not an on going series. If it was still on going or was going to be restarted I could see the reboot working but not if it's only for a movie every couple of years. Games like Xenoverse would work better for a reboot time line.Kamiccolo9 wrote:DC was 50ish when it was rebooted with Crisis on Infinite Earths. Dragon Ball is by no means too old for a reboot.
Also you talking to the wrong guy with Godzilla being rebooted. While were one subject Godzilla was rebooted 5 times from 1999-2004 and again in the 2014 film.

This wish of despair, in my opinion, has to be with bringing either the saiyan race back, the original SSJ God, or a complete new character. There's no way it could be Broly being revived...

So.....you mean exactly like Star Trek?miguelnuva1 wrote:

And I wouldn't consider the Millennium Series to be a reboot with each movie. More like each movie was an alternate universe in and of itself. You're right about the 2014 film though; forgot about it since I missed my chance to see it this summer.

Just out of interest, is there a reason why the majority of the fan theories about this wish either relate to former villains, the Saiyans or a Super Saiyan God?
Not to sound disparaging, as without any further information officially released it could still turn out to be one of the above, but is it really so hard to entertain the idea that Toriyama might be doing something completely new?

It's the same situtation like with GT, when people started to dream about SSJ 4 - infinity and AF stuff, non of which was much original.Blade wrote:Just out of interest, is there a reason why the majority of the fan theories about this wish either relate to former villains, the Saiyans or a Super Saiyan God?

I'm also kind of puzzled, because fans on this message board usually have some original and interesting theories.
I know that no villain in DB story can work so far, maybe if there were some mechanics enhancing his potential. Another Saiyan or SSJ God? Boring as hell. My bet is on another Godly being!
btw. Super Saiyan Rubber Duck is back! Hi guys!

It was stated that the new film will follow after Battle of Gods, so overzealous folk have taken that to literally mean a direct sequel. As in, seconds after the end of BoG, or something.Blade wrote:Just out of interest, is there a reason why the majority of the fan theories about this wish either relate to former villains, the Saiyans or a Super Saiyan God?

Yeah, I get that much - but I just don't understand how the 'I want you to revive someone' seems to be more or less entirely only producing the three theories of 'Broli', 'The Saiyans' or 'The Original Super Saiyan God' (which as a concept, just sounds like Broli anyway).B wrote:It was stated that the new film will follow after Battle of Gods, so overzealous folk have taken that to literally mean a direct sequel. The Dragonball franchise has suffered so badly with regurgitation of characters, story-lines and concepts over the years, and it just makes me despair when we're getting something brand new, and it feels like whatever comes out, half of the fanbase are going to be disappointing because it wont involve digging up something old like Broli.

I'm still holding out a bit of hope for that reality-warper I thought Beerus was gonna be. Sort of a Janemba and Cell mixture of a character.

DBZ ended in 92 and hasn't really been touch upon in a big way where something like Mortal Kombat gets a new game every few years.Big Momma wrote:...Why would you reboot something that's still going on? Fresh in the public's eye?miguelnuva1 wrote:

Had DBZ picked up every few years and had become semi on going I would say reboot it because eventually there would be no where for Goku to go. Right now we still have 11 other universes of people to fight.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
DBZ ended in 95
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Don't we get enough reboots and retconning in comics ? There's no need for manga to be like that as well
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
@Retan
It actually ended in 1996, 31st of January.
The DB manga ended in 95, of course, but DBZ, the anime, ended up going on for 8 months more.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Question! Could the lack of an announcement regarding the Animation Director mean they haven't hired one yet? BOG announced it right away with some of the others involved.
