The Dragon Ball comic ended in 1995, and the Dragon Ball Z TV series ended in 1996. (Still didn't end in '92, though.)

Also, I'm calling this thing now: they're going to bring Dr. Mashirito back to life, and the mad scientist will use his know-how to defeat both Arale and Goku once and for all. That's why Toriyama's ex-editor Torishima liked the script so much. Obotchaman, Gatchan and Vegeta will be forced to step in and save the day, with Vegeta all the while cursing his lot in having to put up with characters from a gag series.

If this doesn't come true, I'll make kei17 eat his pants and wear Goku's dougi to work. Because he still hasn't done that with regards to Battle of Gods.

Yeah, considering every other DB movie has had an entirely new antagonist, my top prediction is all new characters on both ends. Both the person making the wish will be a new character, and the person being revived. Seems like that's most in the spirit of things.

If I had to make a prediction toward some Toriyama-verse character coming back, I think Babidi would be it. No other villain would be worth bringing back, everyone is at peak strength. No already existent villain (other than maybe Buu, who has already been reincarnated) would be a serious threat if they suddenly returned. However, if Babidi came back, there's plenty of strong guys out there he could take control of, and have exact revenge on the Earth. Especially with this knowledge of the 12 Universes now.

If I had to predict a Non-Toriyama-verse character to come back, I'd probably say Janemba. I think it's highly unlikely, but I can't think of any other fairly power movie villain that can also transcend dimensions, and given the fellow who gave birth to Janemba is directing this movie, and Toriyama has said that Janemba is his favorite Dragon Ball character design he didn't do, I could see the two of them trying to make something work with that. This is definitely lower on my totem pole of possibilities, but I think that at least makes more sense than bringing back any other movie character, Broly included.

Question! Could the lack of an announcement regarding the Animation Director mean they haven't hired one yet? BOG announced it right away with some of the others involved.

Multiple animation directors will be hired either way, just as with Kami to Kami. Whom the character designer and chief animation supervisor will be, however, is anyone's guess. Given that near as we know the script has yet to finish and basic sketches from Toriyama Akira have yet to be finished, whomever is to take on the role of character designer and chief animation supervisor probably will not be decided until Director Yamamuro Tadayoshi has a finished script in hand. He still needs to hire others to storyboard the movie with him, after all.

So what kind of creature will the new villain be based off of, anyone wanna make a guess?

I'm guessing it won't be human, as Toriyama seems tired of that idea for some reason. My guess, a dragon character, or possibly a gold fish who likes to swim in FIRE!! oooh Scary!!!

I could see them bringing back Buu. He already has the quick ability to absorb someone to instantly make him a threat. Maybe this takes place post Z, and Uub finding out he is the reincarnation of Buu wishes him back to life to test himself, he loses, then Buu goes on a rampage absorbing gods in the other realm.

Edit: or he could absorb Goku, gaining the god power, and that's what makes Vegeta the protagonist, by being forced to defeat Buu/Goku.

DBZ ended in 92 and hasn't really been touch upon in a big way where something like Mortal Kombat gets a new game every few years.

Had DBZ picked up every few years and had become semi on going I would say reboot it because eventually there would be no where for Goku to go. Right now we still have 11 other universes of people to fight.

I'm not disagreeing that DBZ doesn't need a reboot...I'm just saying that IMO it makes more sense to reboot something that IS "too old" and has been out of the public eye for awhile. The point of a reboot is to bring something back into the spotlight and introduce it to a new generation of people. If it's still popular/ongoing, then there shouldn't be anyone who need to be re-introduced.

The trailer tells me that Goku is powering up just to avoid to be destroyed because of a cataclysm, I do think Goku is tha one who generates those rocks to fall down. I predict Goku will be the one to will cause some very dangerous situation.

I'm pretty sure, based on previous teaser trailers, that other than the text and Shenlong's dialogue that nothing else has anything to do with the new movie's actual storyline. Including Goku in the teaser was for mere visibility and hype. I highly doubt, based on last time, that any footage from this teaser will appear in the movie.

Pretty much exactly what I'm thinking. Although, I would be willing to bet that they gave that darker background behind Goku to go along with the 'more action scenes' part of the advertising, as compared to the BoG teaser where Goku was just on top of a mountain.

I agree that it does give off a darker feel than the BOG teaser did. Makes the hint of "despair" seem genuine.

I like the revised art style in the trailer (like how Shen Long is drawn), I hope the final movie has a nice look to it. If a movie comes out every 2 years, that's fine. The hype is happening all over again. Feels like when BoG originally came out.

Most of the basic lifeforms in the universe begin to appear.
An odd organism develops rapidly and becomes highly advanced. He calls himself the Sozoshin (God of Creation) and begins traveling and observing the universe.

After experiencing the chaos of the universe first hand, the Sazoshin desires to create a peaceful utopia for the lost souls who have suffered through the hardship known as life. A place where all can live safely, in happiness, far away from the chaos. He attempts to seek out the most intelligent of his fellow life forms in the universe so that he may recruit the strongest, most intelligent beings in order for them to help him in his goal.
Circa 590,000,000 BEFORE AGE

The Sozoshin is unable to find a race suitable for his needs, so he decides to create one. On a planet he decides to call Kaishin (World Core), he plants a magnificent, enchanted tree called the Kaiju (World Tree), which is to bear a special fruit.
The Sozoshin begins splitting the universe into alternate realms, such as heaven, hell, etc. To avoid any inconveniences down the line, he creates extra realms to prevent any poor planning beyond what even he can foresee.
The Sozoshin begins to suffer from straining his abilities past their limits.
Most complex lifeforms begin to appear.

Circa 100,000,000 BEFORE AGE
Finally at peace with what he has accomplished, the Sozoshin seals himself away on Kaishin in a hibernative state that would allow him to regain the large amounts stamina he used in order to create everything for the universe’s peaceful future.


Would be cool if they revive this guy.
