Your Dragonball Movie. (Not Evolution Related)

Post by omegacwa » Wed Mar 11, 2009 6:08 pm

Since many of us seem unsatisfied (to say the least) with Fox's attempt at turning our favorite series into a silver screen masterpiece I pose this question.

If you had the power, and had to make a live action DB movie(Please none of this "I wouldn't make it because it shouldn't be done BS"), how would you do it based off what technology is currently available? (No made up things that don't exist)

My main questions to start this off:
How would start it off?
What story arcs would you follow or would you create your own?
What characters would you use?
What kind of fighting would you like to be shown (if you can make an example, such as another live action movie) as some people say the fighting in evolution doesn't look dragonball like?
How would you go about the look of the film(character designs, locations and so on)?
Who would you cast?(Specific actors or ethnicities and what not)

Also, be reasonable, lets say the movie has to be 2 hours or less, that doesn't mean you can't say you want to make 6 films though.

As I said, those are just some to get you started. I will have my own ideas up here eventually, but this topic is mainly because I am interested in what you guys have to say.

If you want to post fan art of the way you would want things to look, go ahead, have a blast.

Anyway, this is not an Evolution discussion, so please don't make it that way. I am sure many of you have great ideas so let's hear and discuss them.

Oh man... I had a big summary for a trilogy I came up with ages ago, back when we barely knew anything about DBE. I should see if I can dig it up. For the time being, I'll give short answers.

How would start it off?
What story arcs whould you follow or would you create your own?

The answers to these two are related. The entire overall story of the trilogy would center around Freeza and the Saiyans. The first would take place mostly on Earth, be a condensed "origins story" and feature Piccolo as the villain, but would start off with a prologue of Bardock launching Goku's pod before taking off to fight Freeza.

What characters would you use?
The essential ones, really. Probably a few more than Evolution does, but irrelevant or gag-centric characters such as Oolong or Puar wouldn't really have a place. I'd have to think more about an actual storyline to come up with any solid answer.

What kind of fighting would you like to be shown?

Mostly in the style of the 23rd Budokai. Starting to get on a somewhat larger scale, but not over-the-top like Z's fights were, at least not until folks start clashing with the likes of Vegeta and Freeza. Some flight and impressive ki usage, but mostly speed and skill.

How would you go about the look of the film(character designs, locations and so on)?

A distinct combination of sci-fi and fantasy. Like Star Wars but with kung-fu and Ki instead of lightsabers and the Force.

Mine would be mostly sci-fi as well, it would start off with the Bardock origin story which would also act as an origin story for Vegeta and Goku as children.

In the end it would lead up to a perfect moment in the Saiyan saga. It would completely ignore DB because the origin story is sci-fi and thus wouldn't fit in the fantasy world.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Either that, or I'd make a film that's somewhat more "faithful" in appearance and style to the manga/anime, and market it as a kids' movie. Still have Piccolo as the villain, and stuff.

How would start it off?
I'd start off following Bulma, who would be racing across the mountains on some type of CC-esque vehicle, freaked out and fleeing from some bad guys who are also after the DB's. There'd be a few shots of her dragon ball kept mostly hidden in a satchel or handbag.

We'd be switching back and forth a couple times between her chase scene and what Goku's doing; which would be similar to what he was doing in the beginning of DB (though I'd have to forgo the nude fishing; he could still fish with his tail though, but he'd be wearing pants).

Bulma thinks she's lost the bad guys through the wooded area, runs into Goku and tries to persuade him to give her his dragon ball. Goku of course refuses to give it to her. He's been living alone on Mt. Paozu, his grampa's been dead, identical to his origin in the manga.

The bad guys (RR? Piccolo minions? I haven't decided yet I'm typing this off the top of my head) pop up and Goku quickly disposes of them. Bulma is impressed and shocked. She persuades him to come with her on her adventure.
What story arcs would you follow or would you create your own?
I'd try to do something kind of like Path to Power; maybe have Piccolo take the RR Army's dragon balls, but have them overthrown by him in the sense that they're now working for Piccolo, but out of fear of their own deaths?
What characters would you use?
Most of the main cast from those two arcs. So I guess:
Goku, Bulma, Kuririn, Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Launch, Master Roshi.
I don't know what I'd do with Chaoutzu. I might have to dump him. Sorry Chaoutzu. ^^;
What kind of fighting would you like to be shown (if you can make an example, such as another live action movie) as some people say the fighting in evolution doesn't look dragonball like?
I love the fighting in "The Dead Zone" movie, so yeah, it'd look a lot like the battles in Movie 1. Fast-paced, the-actors-better-be-in-shape-and-have-insurance type of fighting.
How would you go about the look of the film(character designs, locations and so on)?

I'd try to reach more of a middle ground than DBE did.
For example, we'd have a Goku with black eyes and black, messy hair; but it wouldn't stick out in those individual spikes. Hell his hair makes no sense in 2-D (you've seen it flip back and forth in the anime whenever he turns his head to the side) there's no way you could properly take that to live action without compromising it. He'd still have his signature bangs though.

Bulma'd still have blue hair, Kuririn'd still be bald, but he'd probably have a nose. Kamesennin would have the mustache and beard, (and be bald) but it wouldn't be as prominent.

Tenshinhan's 3rd eyeball would be cgi.

I'd definitely want the backgrounds and backdrops to have a higher contrast color wise than you see in real life. It wouldn't be "OMG THAT'S BRIGHT", but it would be noticeable enough without looking cheesy.

I want some Toriyama-style cities, but for the most part those would probably be cgi as well.

I've come to like the idea of involving the Red Ribbon Army, too. They want to rule the world, they think Piccolo can help them do that so they release him, but it ends up their undoing and they're wiped out in the process when he does things his own way. A nice way to get BOTH of DragonBall's major villains worked into the story.

I'd start off with the end of the Bardock special, show Gohan collecting food or wood in the forest, see's something crash, goes over to see what it is, some sort of mangled metal and rock, a meteorite maaaaybe? And finds Goku, holds him up to the sky, and names him Goku!

But I'm kinda sick of the way Bulma and Goku meet the others, I'd probably copy the falling in a hole thing from Evolution, only make Oolong and Puer working for Yamucha. Then Goku roughs them up, then they'll join sides eventually and come across Umigame and take him to the beach, then meet Kame-sennin, get Kinto'un, blah blah blah. Theeeeen, I'd mix the Badguys up a bit, have Mai and Shuu working as opperatives for the Red Ribbon Army, taking Pilaf out completely. Also, Lunch and Kuririn would already be living with Roshi, he just hasn't decided if he'll train him yet.

They'd also meet Gyu-mao somehow, and Goku promices he'll come back to marry Chi-Chi, what ever that is~!

Yamucha and Roshi would all be hurt by Tao Pa Pai, who would still be a Hired killer, only assuming control of the Army while he does it.

General Blue would still be a main baddie, he'd still have his telekinetic abilities.

The final battle would be a revived Goku beating up Tao Pai Pai who would be darker and a more sinister character, take out the pink clothing maybe to convey that, but have him dress similar.

And they use the Dragon Balls to bring back everyone killed by Tao Pai Pai and the Red Ribbon Army.

The Sequel would be about the Tenkaichi Budoukai, Goku, Kuririn, Yamuch and Lunch (I want her to be more of a fighter here) all train under Roshi for a year, and travel to meet the others at the Tenkaichi Budoukai, where they also meet Tenshinhan, Chaozu and Tsuru-sennin, establish them as bad guys then get some comedy and drama out of the way with them, then Tenshinhan and Goku's battle will start and Goku's doing pretty badly here, but surprisingly well, but just as things are looking up... Kuririn will be KILLED.

Goku in a flurry of Tears will call Kinto'un and leave the tournament, feeling his way to Kuririn's killer, eventually finding Tambourine and attacking him, but Goku's too weak after his fight with Tenshinhan at the tournament and gets knocked from Kinto un, falling a height that noooooo body could survive. Tenshinhan can't feel too happy about his technical win, he feels that Goku would have beat him and gains respect for him, deciding to help him find the killer.

Roshi discovers another shock, the Ma symbol of Piccolo-Daimao, and warns Ten, Chaozu, Yamucha and everyone else to stay out of it, and if he's lucky, Goku would have run away by now.

Goku get's woken up as Yajirobe conciders eating him.

They fight Tambourine and both decide to eat him instead...

But Goku feels frightened as he senses something coming for them, It's Piccolo! Along with Mai and Shuu, survivors of the Red Ribbon attack.

So blah blah blah blah, Goku "dies", then Roshi and Chaozu are killed, Piccolo becomes young again, the Mafuba fails, Shen Long is killed and the Budoukai becomes a death zone as Piccolo kills everyone there in case they know the Mafuba.

Then, Goku is baaaack! He climbs and climbs and climbs a Mysterious tower that he was blasted next to by Piccolo. Eventually finding the Top, Karin-sennin trains him under the influence of the SUPER HYPER MEGA AWESOME GOD WATER and his power grows dramatically, so he hops off the tower, flies with Kinto'un to Piccolo, who is about to kill Tenshinhan, Goku save's Ten and then blah blah blah blah blah, Piccolo is killed! Hooray!

Goku then comes back to Karin and climbs to the top again with all his new found strength, but his friends feel worried as he doesn't come back for 3 years.

Then at the Tenkaichi Budoukai, the gang reunite to beat each other up, and they meet Goku again, who was sent to kill Piccolo's son, Piccolo!

Goku saves the day AGAAAAAAIN in a bloody battle full of BLOOD, get's revived and either Kami/Roshi/Announcer Guy marry Goku to Chi-chi infront of all their friends and the Budoukai crowd, and they all live happily ever after!

OR DO THEY?! After the credits, there'll be a scene with something resembling the meteorite Goku landed in leaving a planet just before BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM, It explodes.

Yes, it's obviously Raditz.

And there'll probably be an Oozaru transformation somewhere...

Strange little animals and other things like Puer and Chaozu would be CGI, but they'd look less like their manga counterparts. Chaozu would have a fat, asian looking mannequin face, and Puer would still float and look more like a cat. Oolong would just be a little hobbit-like pig faced fat guy.

Goku would be a muscular 15 year old of course, with Chatwin's Goku style only slightly longer. His normal clothes would be the blue gi, then would be the Kame gi in the second one.

EDIT:

For Z movies, I'd follow the way I've compressed the story lines.

It's start Ten years after Goku and Chi-chi got married and left the Budoukai, and it would start with Chi-chi treating Gohan like a baby even though he wants to run wild and train with his dad.

Goku starts looking worried as the animals flee the forest surrounding their cottage, he rushes back to his home from a nearby lake. Goku looks up and see's a far off fireball flying right over the land, he can't see where it goes from there as it passes over the mountains. As it crashes a familiar face drops in to observe it, Piccolo watches in amazement as the metal object begins to steam up and open slowly, a long haired beast of a man wearing dented, dirty and rusted armor emerges and introduces himself as Raditz, Piccolo demands a tribute and threatens him with death, Raditz refuses, Piccolo attacks him, Raditz is completely unharmed, and is about to strike back, then the metallic object on his ear projects a hologram a foot away from his face image of Goku's outline from waaaaay over there, detecting his body heat and ki. Raditz takes off instantly and makes his way towards Goku, who has left to take Chi-chi and Gohan to Muten-Roshi's island home to introduce them and to make sure they're in safe hands, as if he knows he's about to bite the dust.

Raditz lands and blows away the walls of the Kame House like it was nothing, he attacks Kuririn and Goku, then explains the whole Planet Vegeta, Saiyan mumbo jumbo, (Yamucha, Bulma, Puer and Oolong aren't present) and takes Gohan after noticing his tail.

Then Piccolo shows up, Goku and Kuririn start attacking him before he announces he's like to help them fight Raditz.

Kuririn wants to go, Goku explains that Raditz is more powerful than Piccolo Daimao, and that the Dragon Ball's would be useless for him and Muten Roshi, so he lets Piccolo and Goku go fight them, feeling sad and alone as he realises how strong Goku is now.

So they fight, and Goku holds Raditz, Piccolo fires a long powerful twisty beam to drill through his impenetrable armor.

Raditz reveals that his superior officer, who is also a Saiyan will be coming to Earth to avenge him, Piccolo explains the Dragon Balls will either bring Goku back to life or kill the other Saiyan, then kills Raditz, and then Goku dies juuuust as his friends arrive.

Piccolo demands he trains Gohan, calling Kame's means of unlocking potential and training the body useless.

So Piccolo trains Gohan as the new threat comes to Earth, Yajirobe, Kuririn, Yamucha, Tenshinhan and Chaozu train with Kami.

The Saiyan shows up unexpectedly, Vegeta locates all of the fighter's and calculates that they're not strong enough to kill him, but he's looking for some entertainment too, so he heads to where the most powerful ones are located, Piccolo and Gohan.

Then they all show up, Goku is wished back to life (Oh yeah, he asked them from heaven to wait a year to wish him back, so a lot of the manga events happen here, but Kaio is too strange to be shown in movie form.)

He arrives at the battle field, his son and his friends are almost done for as they fight the Saibaimen, who I'd want to be almost exactly like the Fulums, Goku kills them all instantly and asks his friends to go to the Kame House.

So, they fight, and fight, and fight, there's a full moon out as it starts getting dark, Vegeta transforms and almost kills Goku, Gohan and Piccolo stayed and hid to fight again, so Gohan transforms too, then there's a giant 10 ft monkey battle, Piccolo grabs Vegeta's tail and rips it right off to weaken him even more. Gohan goes on a Rampage and tries to kill Piccolo, and Goku ends up chopping off Gohan's tail too.

Vegeta and Goku are spitting blood by now, but they're still too strong to stop fighting, then, another Metal orb lands, Vegeta recognises the Half alien half cyborg monster emerge, Freeza, even though he's like the God of hundreds of planets he had to come alone to make sure the last three Saiyans are killed. Goku and Vegeta find a common cause and fight together, but they're no match, then, Kuririn comes out of no where to help too.

Freeza kills Vegeta with a single beam, then does the same to Piccolo, just before Goku punches him to the ground, his body glowing red with rage, it's the Kaiouken which he learned in the afterlife, but it's still not enough. Freeza continues to go after the small fries, Kuririn goes boomboom, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan, which is what Freeza was fearing, so instead of killing the saiyans and leaving, he decides to destroy Earth, unleashing a huge fireball from his finger and firing it to the ground, Goku fires back with a Kamehame-ha, which destroys the fireball and kills Freeza.

But now I've fucked it up so there's no way Trunks, the Androids or Majin Buu could happen, but I don't care since that part of Z isn't the best really, so I'd leave it here, maybe do a direct to DVD sequel that recons the whole story and forever destroys my credibility as a film maker and I start to loath Dragon Ball and all it's fans, THEND!

Also, I'm not gonna spellcheck or grammar check it since I don't have the time right now...

Off the top of my head?

Two and a half years have passed since the gang was last together. Son and the wife are living in Mount Paozu, recent newly weds. Bulma and Yamcha are on their way to a reunion party at Kame House and begin the recount their first meeting with Son, which leads into most of first half of the film being a flashback. Throughout the flashback we see how Bulma first met Son as a boy and cover some of their travels, likely combining elements from Path to Ultimate Power (like the use of the RR as their first journey) and then Son’s training with Rôshi, the Tenka’ichi (left unnumbered) and then the arrival of Piccolo Daimaô after Son’s lost to Tenshinhan. The Piccolo story elements are told through flashback and end with Daimaô’s death. Remember, this is already a good hour and ninety minutes in at this point in the film. Bulma and Yamcha land on Kame Island and learn they are the first to arrive (aside from Kuririn, who lives there).

The gang is having fun reminiscing until a dark ki is felt. Outside, a green man in a turban awaits them. Rôshi is utterly stunned to recognize him as Daimaô, but in truth he is Ma Junior. Junior demands to see Son Gokû (after beating down Yamcha and Kuririn rather effortlessly), but when he learns he has not arrived yet, Daimaô bids the gang farewell, leaving them stricken with terror: he plans to enter the Tenka’ichi in six months and he would love to kill Son there so as to reclaim his position as ruler of the world. Piccolo leaves.

The gang (sans Ten and Chaozu) rush over to Mount Paozu where they inform Son of Piccolo’s return. Son agrees he will enter the tournament, however when asked to hunt down the Dragonballs with his friends, he declines. Son reveals he is going to search for the one master that can train him for the coming battle.

Throughout the next portion of the film Kuririn, Yamcha, Bulma, Pu’erh and Oolong search for the Dragonballs and have a nice little adventure I don’t feel like describing in great detail. This could last from 40-60 minutes, at most.

Son, meanwhile, arrives as Karin Tower. Son flashes back to the time he met Karin and how he became so much more powerful. Son requests permission to train under Kami, the God of Earth, and Karin agrees to show him how to reach him.

After collecting the Dragonballs Yamcha and Kuririn decide they want to train for the Tenka’ichi too. Rôshi agrees to help out as much as he can.

Six months pass and the gang reunites. Tenshinhan and Chaozu reveal that Karin sent a messenger to come and train under him and Yamcha and Kuririn got the same message. Gokû congratulates them for passing his training.

What is about 2.5 hours into the film begins the preliminaries. Piccolo takes Tao’s role in Chaozu’s coma and Tenshinhan swears revenge. The final eight are decided, those eight being Son, Piccolo, Kuririn, Ten, Yamcha, Jackie Chun, Shen and Tambourine. Chichi, Bulma, a eighteen month old Gohan, Oolong, and Pu’erh cheer the gang on.

In the first round Tambourine battles Jackie Chun, the winner of a previous tournament. However, despite an impressive show from such an old man, Tambourine’s power is too great and the battle ends when Chun forfeits.

In the second round Son takes on Tenshinhan in a battle which mirrors their 23rd Tenka’ichi fight.

Yamcha takes on Shen and Piccolo Kuririn both in battles which mirror theirs from the 23rd Tenka’ichi for the third and four rounds.

Son takes on Tambourine and to the demon’s disgust effortlessly wins by ring out. When Tambourine attacks the crowd out of frustration Son kicks his head in, spilling his upper innards so as to prevent his family and friends from being hurt. The tournament committee chooses not to rule against Son because of Tambourine’s fanatic cries about Daimaô’s return.

Next up, Shen fights Ma Junior, similarly to how he does in the comic. Shen reveals he was the one who taught Mutaito the Mafûba many years ago when he failed to defeat the original Daimaô in combat and failed to use the technique as well. However, Ma Junior sends the attack back on Shen. Whee!

Son and Piccolo begin their fight and it plays out pretty much like the comic’s version of the fight. After Son wins Ten contemplates killing Piccolo, however Son holds him back as it is revealed that Shen restored Chaozu’s health earlier. Son allows Ma Junior to leave so the Dragonballs would remain useful. Piccolo departs, declaring he shall one day kill Son (yeah, sure).

The Dragonballs were not needed after all. Each of the members taking a Dragonball for themselves, the gang splits up after a night of partying, promising to meet again in two years.

How would start it off?
What story arcs would you follow or would you create your own?

I would merge the first and third arcs arcs: Pilaf and Red Ribbon. It would start off with Goku and Krillin training with Roshi, but the Red Ribbon come in search of the 3-Star Ball Roshi has. Story takes off from there. Maybe as a motivator, kill Roshi, then Goku and Krillin have a better reason to go after the ball outside of it being Roshi's keepsake.

What characters would you use?

The primary ones of those arcs, really. Eventually Bulma and Yamcha get involved. Would probably cut Oolong, and maybe make Puar an actual cat. Karin as well.

What kind of fighting would you like to be shown (if you can make an example, such as another live action movie) as some people say the fighting in evolution doesn't look dragonball like?

The early style shown in those arcs, I guess.

How would you go about the look of the film(character designs, locations and so on)?

I would leave a lot of things like locations alone, but maybe modernize outfits a bit. Yamcha's outfit would most likely keep it's colors, but perhaps ditch the scarf and turn the outfit into... a vest-like thing? For the sake of rediculousness, Goku's actor would have spiked up hair rather than a wig, Bulma would have blue highlights instead of fullout blue hair, etc. I'd leave the Kame training gi's alone.

Who would you cast?(Specific actors or ethnicities and what not)

Jason Acuña as Commander Red, Samuel L. Jackson as Adjutant Black, Steve Carrell as General Blue. I'd have to seriously think about the others. Plus, don't know any child actors off the top of my head to be Goku or Krillin.

Man, thinking about it makes me want to write a fan-script for this shit. Reaaaally bad.

Wall-o-text!

I'd do a 4-movie TV miniseries (like on Space or Sci Fi, or whatever) consisting of two 2-part storylines. All four are a combo of sci-fi, fantasy and martial arts, set it in an alternate Earth.

First movie: a combo of the Red Ribbon Army, Piccolo, and 23rd Budokai arcs. Piccolo is the Demon King, tyrant leader of the Red Ribbon Army. He's sending the army to go after the DBs. They chase after Bulma because she has is a scientis developing weapons for the resistance. She also has a DB. Goku comes across the fight he saves her from the platoon of RR goons, so she asks him to enter the Budokai. Only people with DBs are allowed to enter it and the winner gets all of them. This is a front to get people from countries the RR hasn't been able to conquer to being their DBs within Piccolo's grasp. Since he's not willing to risk his own safety in the tournament, Piccolo enters his son (who has the same name as him, prompting for funny "who are we talking about?" moments) in his stead.

Everybody would be in it, but mostly for cameo purposes; they would be the fighters with the 7 Dragonballs:
1) Chaozu (cameo to fill fighter position)
2) Krillin
3) Kamesennin
4) Goku
5) Yamcha (since she can't fight, Bulma gives her DB to the strongest fighter in the resistance)
6) Tenshinhan (cameo to fill fighter position, but he beats Yamcha)
7) Piccolo
8) Yajirobe (to make it an even 8 in the tourney, a lottery is held. Prizes include a year's supply of groceries (10 prizes), Capsule Corp vehicles (1 car, 1 sky-car, 1 house), and the 8th position in the tourney. Yajirobe was hoping for the groceries or to trade a Capsule Corp prize for the groceries, but got stuck with winning the 8th position)

Bulma, Yamcha and Goku would meet up with Krillin and they'd quickly hit it off as Krillin's country is also at war with the Red Ribbon Army. Goku and Krillin would be become close as they're similar (kung fu for kung fu's sake, etc). Kamesennin is just there to see the next gen of fighters, and we don't learn Chaozu or Tenshinhan's motivation.
1) The Chaozu V Krillin fight is a typical kung fu tournament movie fight, with Krillin winning.
2) Kamesennin reveals his motivation to Goku in mid fight, and Goku sees the full moon. He transforms, but Kamesennin destroys his tail before he can kill anybody. Kamesennin, despite dominating the fight, surrenders. Both and he and King Piccolo realize Goku's a Saiyan, but because he's pure-hearted, Kamesennin feels it would be interesting to see him fight Piccolo.
3) Yamcha, despite being strong, loses to Tenshinhan.
4) Yajirobe figures he can wish for food, so he decides to take his fight seriously. Being nowhere near the same level of technique, Piccolo takes down Yajirobe in a fight similar to Neo vs Smith (block, block, block, KO in one hit).
5) Krillin and Goku have a fight similar to their 22nd Budokai fight; a friendly fight resulting in Goku's victory.
6) Piccolo brutalizes Tenshinhan, giving us an idea of how strong he is.
7) (Interesting: 7 DBs and 7 fights. :P) Piccolo vs Goku is badass, resulting in Goku's victory by him copying Kamesennin's Kamehameha technique.

Bulma uses the DBs to summon Shenron, wishing for him to destroy King Piccolo. Shenron replies that he can't destroy his maker/guardian. Piccolo surrenders and explains that he is really Kami, the last Namekkian, who was charged with making sure the DBs were never found by Freeza, an intergalactic warlord. Piccolo was born afterwards through asexual reproduction (cue joke). The purpose of the Red Ribbon Army was to unify the world's armies (if Red Ribbon conquered thw world, then there'd be one big coordinated army). Kami took on Piccolo's name in order to stay hidden (cue making fun of his inoriginality).

Kamesennin promises to help Goku train in order to control the Oozaru "darkness" within him. Krillin tags along in order to train under the legendary Kamesennin. Meanwhile Piccolo continues training under his father's tutelage.

After the credits: Yajirobe looks up at Shenron. "If nobody's making a wish, can I have the year's supply of groceries?"

Second Movie: Mix of Saiyan and Freeza sagas.
A year has passed since the first movie. Radditz shows up to kill Picolo ("a strong Namek warrior") in order to find the DBs. Kami uses telepathy to alert Kamesennin, who gives Goku the nimbus cloud to quickly reach Piccolo to help him. Radditz explains he's Goku's brother, who was sent decades ago to get the DBs, following a lead that they were on Earth. It turns out two evil galactic empires (Saiyans and Freeza) are a war, and Freeza's winning. Radditz could care less about the details of Goku and Kami and co, and continues his attack, forcing Goku and Piccolo to kill him.

Freeza and a ship full of aliens (Zarbon and Dodoria are his lieutenants, and the Ginyu squad acts as the squadron of goons) arrive on Earth, chasing the DBs. Vegeta chases after him, intending to kill him so he can single-handedly end the war (Nappa was ordered to go with him).

Details haven't been fleshed out, but eventually Vegeta and Goku team up. Freeza beats them both down. Goku goes SSJ to defeat Freeza. Vegeta stays because SSJ is more powerful than Oozaru, so he wants to learn how to become SSJ so he claim title of strongest Saiyan. We find out that Oozaru is the dark side of the Saiyan transformation, but because of the ease in obtaining great power, the Saiyans opted for it over the SSJ form.

Third Movie: combo of androids and Cell sagas.
Trunks' timeline isn't all that bad. For decades Dr Gero has been making androids to conquer the Earth, and for decades Goku and co have been beating them down. That is, until #17 and #18. The famous battle eventually leads to their destruction, but the strain of the battle aggravates a heart disease he caught, so he dies later on. As a result of his absence, #19 and #20 manage to kill off everybody else over the years.

Eventually Gohan and Trunks would destroy them, but a doomsday weapon (Imperfect Cell) created by Gero kills Gohan and goes back in time to assimilate #17 and #18 in order to become a super weapon. Trunks chases after him. He gives Goku the cure to his disease and together they, Krillin, Vegeta, and Piccolo face Cell, who managed to assimilate #17 in an interlude scene. They try to fight against Semi-Perfect Cell, while Krillin runs away with 18 (hint hint wink wink romance romance) and Chichi, a former member of Bulma's resistance. Missing details result in Goku and Chichi hitting it off. Eventually Cell finds and assimilates #18, resulting in Perfect Cell. Goku, by being SSJ, is strong enough to use the Genkidama to destroy Cell.

Movie ends with Trunks returning to his timeline, only to find it overrun by monsters and demons. Instead of a war-torn world, his future is now literally Hell on Earth.

Movie 4: Boo saga
Trunks encounters Kaioshin, the Lord of the Universe, who has come to Earth to destroy Boo. So far, not so good. He explains Boo's origin, that he is the harbringer of the Universe's Apocalypse. Trunks pieces together that because he saved Goku, #19 and #20 wouldn't go on to eventually kill Kami, thus destroying the DBs, before they would be used by an evil sorceror (Babidi) to transfer Boo from the Demon Universe to Earth. Trunks tells Kaioshin of the time machine, but before they can use it, a demon (Dabura) attacks them, and manages to kill Trunks. Kaioshin goes back alone.

Kaioshin goes back to when Boo is about to be released, in order to kill Babidi before he releases Boo. Babidi bribes Vegeta with SSJ if he agrees to defend him. Vegeta agrees, so the Majin spell unlocks SSJ in Vegeta. Boo is released and kills Babidi. He also succeeds in kicking everyone's asses. Kaioshin teaches Goku and Vegeta fusion in order to defeat Boo, while Boo goes around the world summoning demons. Everybody takes the demons on for damage control. Goku and Vegeta become Vegetto, and he defeats Boo. Typical "this changes nothing between us" remark as the two agree to fight at the next budokai.

Re: Your Dragonball Movie. (Not Evolution Related)

Hum, let's see.
omegacwa wrote: How would start it off?
Somewhat similiar to the way the first DB movie started off. Young wild boy Goku is out fishing, and meets Bulma the same way as in the manga. As they return to Goku's house, they see some Red Ribbon guys escaping from the now trashed house, and Goku discovers his Dragonball is gone. Bulma fills him in on the entire Shenlong story, and explains how she's looking for the balls as well, and the two team up to get them back.
omegacwa wrote:What story arcs would you follow or would you create your own?
I would do a mix of the Pilaf and Red Ribbon arc. On their way to the first Dragonball, the two bump into Yamucha, who overhears them talking about the Dragonballs, tries to steal them, is beaten, and decides to stalk them. They next arrive at Mount Fry Pan, where they're attacked by Gyumaou, who recognizes Goku's nyoibou, mentions both he and Goku's grandfather were trained by Muten Roushi, and gives Goku his dragonball. At that time, Silver shows up with a bunch of soldiers, is easily beaten by Goku, and alerts Red about this super-powerful boy. Goku meets Chichi, and the "proposal" scene is done to set up for the sequel.
Searching for the next Dragonball, the group heads out to sea, and eventually end up at Muten Roushi's place. Learning that Goku is Gohan's grandson, he agrees to helping them with a submarine if Bulma takes off her shirt for him. Bulma isn't very happy about this proposal, but ventually agree, not knowing that Goku had unhooked her bra earlier.
Muten Roushi's cocky pupil Kuririn doesn't think Goku looks like much, and pretty much invites himself along to "protect" the kiddies. Bulma, Goku and Kuririn head to the underwater cave, runs afoul of Blue, and Goku ends up saving Kuririn's life. Returning to the surface, Muten Roushi presents Goku with the Kinto Un as thanks for saving his pupil, and further demonstrates how he can't ride it. Blue, who survived, attacks the island with a batallion of ships, but Roushi blows them up with the Kamehameha. Blue manages to sneak onto the island during the battle and steal the Dragonballs, and as he escapes in a helicopter, Goku follows him alone on the Kinto Un, catching up to him, and taking the Dragonballs back. He has no idea where he currently is, but a still living Blue contacts HQ and informs Red. Tao Baibai is hired and sent to kill Goku. Blue tries another attack on Goku, but Tao intervenes, and kills Blue in a flash for being too weak a soldier. Attacking Goku, he nearly kills the boy with the Dodonpa, but Goku recalls Muten Roushi's Kamehameha, and uses it to counter the Dodonpa and "kill" Tao. He then heads for the RRA HQ. Meanwhile, Bulma has built a tracker device for Goku, and locates him heading for RRA HQ. Kuririn, who feels he owes Goku for saving his life, sets off in that direction as quick as possible, with Bulma and Muten Roushi following further behind.
Goku arrives at RRA HQ, beats up soldiers, Red's wish is discovered and Black kills him, Metallic is sent out to fight, stuff happens, Yamucha and Kuririn both join in on the battle, and Goku eventually sees the moon and goes Great Ape, destroying the HQ. Bulma and Muten Roushi shows up, Bulma is nearly killed, but saved by Yamucha, Yamucha cuts Goku's tail off. Black tries a final attack with his mecha suit, and failing that, tries blowing up everyone with a giant bomb. Goku, not wanting his friends to die, attacks Black head on, and they both die in the explotion. Everyone agree on reviving Goku with the dragonballs, Bulma and Yamucha hook up, getting their wishes essentially fulfilled, and Muten Roushi takes on Goku as his second student. Credits roll, then we see a short scene of a still-living Tao searching for information on a particular denshi jar.
omegacwa wrote: What characters would you use?
As mentioned in the plot outline, Goku, Bulma, Yamucha, Kuririn and Muten Roushi as main heroes, with Gyumaou, Chichi and Grandpa Gohan (in flashbacks) as minor roles. Red, Black, Blue and Tao as main villains, with Silver as a minor guy to introduce us to who these soldiers really are.

Lunch, Pu-ehr and Oolong don't really do enough to warrant inclusion, the Muscle Tower and most it's characters (except Metallic, he's good as a robot guardian of the base) would get cut for not really being very crucial to the plot, and Karin and his training would be switched for Goku recalling the Kamehameha.

omegacwa wrote: Who would you cast?(Specific actors or ethnicities and what not)
I'm not much into famous actors, but Goku, Tao, Muten Roushi and Kuririn would be Asian, Black would be... well, black, and the others would be white.

How would start it off?

It would start off with a short recap of Dragonball similar to what's planned for the beginning of Dragonball Kai and kind of build Goku up as this ultimate unstoppable hero and build Piccolo up as the nearly unstoppable villain/rival. Then, I would have him killed in the fight against Radtiz just to shock all of the people who don't know the story.

What story arcs would you follow or would you create your own?

It would follow the Saiyan arc and set up for the Freeza arc.

What characters would you use?

I would center it mostly around Gohan, Piccolo, and Goku. However, I would use everyone who participated in the fight against Nappa and Vegeta, even if I had to make a CG Chaozu.

What kind of fighting would you like to be shown (if you can make an example, such as another live action movie) as some people say the fighting in evolution doesn't look dragonball like?

I would probably focus on the speed-combat for the most part, but I'd make sure that it could still be followed without much trouble. I wouldn't focus too much on aerial combat because I'd wanna save that for Vegeta vs. Goku. I'd really try to accurately adapt a lot of the really memorable stuff from the anime and manga versions of the fight.

How would you go about the look of the film(character designs, locations and so on)?

Remember that really brightly-colored teaser poster for Evolution?

http://dbthemovie.com/gallery/displayim ... um=7&pos=6

It would be something like that or Speed Racer in terms of color and tone and would only go ddark where it's really appropriate like Vegeta's power-up scene in his fight with Goku.

Who would you cast?(Specific actors or ethnicities and what not)

I would probably find the appropriate Japanese actors for the role. A lot of what I'd be doing would really come off as stuff that's common to Japanese fighting movies. Really kooky stuff. I wouldn't really mainstream it at all for Americans especially if Americans are getting the movie last, anyway.

How would it start off?

I'd start it with Burdock sending Goku to Earth in his pod. As the pod flies away, Planet Vegeta explodes.

What story arcs would you follow?

A combination of the Emperor Pilaf and Red Ribbon Army arcs.

What characters would you use?

Goku, Bulma, Kame-Sen'nin and Yamcha would be the main good guys. Taopaipai would be the primary villian, even though the RRA is behind everything. Goku and Taopaipai would have a huge, climactic fight in RRA HQ near the end.

What kind of fighting would you like to be shown (if you can make an example, such as another live action movie) as some people say the fighting in evolution doesn't look dragonball like?

Basically normal martial arts with some flying, ki blasts and superhuman speed/strength.

Who would you cast?(Specific actors or ethnicities and what not)

I'm happy with Emmy and Chow as Bulma and Roshi. I've give Emmy purple hair and Chow a bald cap, sunglassed and moustache/beard. I'd try and cast Robin Shou as Yamcha and Jet Li as Taopaipai. I don't know who I'd cast as Goku. Probably someone between 14 and 16. Goku's tail would be CGI.

I'd do it a little different.

It wouldn't really be Dragon Ball.

It would be "inspired" by Dragon Ball.

Since I think the 'essence' of Dragon Ball is impossible to, believably and unstupidly portray live action, it would have the 'spirit' of Dragon Ball. It would be a westernized, mature film, no goofy characters, no martial arts cliches. It'd take place on THIS Earth, have practical, explained phenomena, the characters would be more human, have more normal names, etc. I know that sounds sort of like DB:E, but not like a cheesy, cliched martial arts flick. In fact, I'd want it as a TV show or multiple movie series...

How would start it off?
Presumably, with the discovery that life in the universe is similar, that we all evolved similarly... the Saiyajins (or whatever they'd be called) would be the equivalent of us, but on a different planet. And, a little different. Jet-black hair, black eyes, stronger, a tail (or maybe something more practical?).

What story arcs would you follow or would you create your own?
I'd have it start off that the Goku character landed here as a baby, and through him the discovery would be made. Then years later, Piccolo... a demon, evil alien, or something would cause problems. I have a lot of ideas about him. Then you'd have perhaps when "Raditz" arrives or something, kind of in the same way it is in the manga.

What characters would you use?
(Again, these would be characters LIKE the original ones) Goku, Grandpa Gohan, Roshi (in some form or another), Kuririn, Yamucha, Tien, Chiaotzu, Bulma, Chi-Chi, Piccolo, Raditz, Vegeta, Nappa...

What kind of fighting would you like to be shown?
Like the original series, but more believable, not as fast. Ki attacks and flying would be incorporated (and given a practical explanation).

How would you go about the look of the film)? Well, it'd take place in the future (c'mon, you gotta have capsules and floating cars), and either take place in a unnamed country or city... I hate the cliche that everything spectacular has to take place in NEW YORK or something.

Who would you cast?
That's the million-dollar question. I liked Marsters as Piccolo... except, he'd be made up more... realistic I guess. Goku would have to be somebody interesting, main-charactery, but not too cliched, like some pretty, muscular leading man type (think Tom Welling).

Anyway, that's my idea. You may think it sounds stupid, but I think its the only practical way you could adapt Dragon Ball. It's just too... cartoony, flashy and unrealistic to adapt to live action, I think.

I'd start the first film with the Bardock stuff, then follow Goku on earth as we meet the characters and learn about the Dragonballs. The Red Ribbon Army would end up becoming the villain threat for Goku to conquer in the end. This approach would set up both Frieza and Gero's androids for future films.

Second film would introduce Piccolo who starts out as an enemy, but ends up teaming up with Goku when the Saiyans arrive. Finishes with a big climactic final battle with Vegeta.

So essentially my first film would be part Bardock movie, part Dragon Ball

My second film would be half Dragon Ball, half Dragon Ball Z.

And from there each sequel would just cover an appropriate amount of material from Z. For instance one film to do the Frieza saga. One to do Trunks through Cell. Etc.

The first film would be pretty much The Path To Ultimate Strength, a blend of Emperor Pilaf but with RRA as villains, and Chi Chi. At the end, we see Goku go off to train with Roshi, and we get our first glimpse of Kuririn. And it ends with some sort of training montage.

The second film begins with shots of a Space Pod hurtling toward Earth, but that's all we see of it. We see the conclusion of the Tenkaichi Budokai, with Goku narrowly losing to Tenshinhan. But a reborn Piccolo arrives at the arena and massacres hundreds of innocents. Goku and Krillin chase after him, but both are severely beaten. He tells the dying Goku that they will meet again. Bulma, Roshi and co. are quickly on the scene to help them. Five years later, the group has a reunion for the next Budokai. A mysterious hooded figure manages to defeat many in the preliminaries, including Tenshinhan. Tenshinhan however manages to unmask the man as Piccolo. Kami arrives and gives a brief history of their lives. The tournament begins, and everything pretty much plays out according to the original 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai (with and Tao Pai Pai being replaced by generic fighters, perhaps people from the 21st or 22nd), with Kami being sealed away, and Goku being left to save the universe. Which he does. Piccolo flies away, and our favorite new couple kiss.

I'll think of a Saiyan sequel later.....

At long last, the Cave of Wonders!

Post by caejones » Thu Apr 09, 2009 11:55 am

Awe, so many interesting posts, so little time today. D:.

Well, I've got lots of notes. Let's see how much I can summarize.

Well, I'd mooch off of Ideas from Kaboom and Snail a little--I like Kaboom's Trilogy concept, and... oh, right, I'm stealing ideas from Dragonball Daisuki, and... yeah, I'm stealing ideas from a lot of people. XD.

Anyway, first movie would be Piccolo / RRA, but...
A key component here is how Piccolo was sealed. My idea for adapting the Mafuuba is to have it channel the ki of every creature on Earth (GenkiDama tie-ins? I haven't thought that far ahead.).
So, that means nothing on or from Earth can open it.
It requires ki to open, so machines don't work so well. Not that this stops someone (Dr. Gero?) from trying to technology his way around it.

But Piccolo's jar remains closed, and the RRA uses it as a guide to the DBs, perhaps even learning of them because of Piccolo's influence.

Now, to the other bits...

I want to work in as much as possible into as little as possible, without suffering the fate of X3 and Spidey3 (I like both, but still...).
So for starters, Son Gohan the Elder receives an invitation from Gyu-mao (Who's the messenger, I wonder?) to attend his daughter's (pick significant number based on actor ages) birthday celebration. So Gohan and Goku go to Mt. Frypan. KameSen'nin appears as well, and Kuririn is present either as a current disciple of KameSen'nin, or because he heard he'd be there and he wants to train under him. In either case, this sets us up with Goku, ChiChi and Kuririn in one place, with their respective old men.

And the RRA attacks. (Colonel Silver leads?)

My idea on how this goes is a bit weak--it involves Piccolo's jar having to be moved to track the DBs, and thus being in a portable fortress near the battle. So Goku, ChiChi and Kuririn wind up in there while the elders deal with the primary fighting. And you guessed it: Goku's not from Earth, and thus can open the jar.
Except I want Piccolo's escape to be ambiguous enough that Goku doesn't notice right away. Maybe more RRA soldiers come in and run the kids out?

I'm running out of time, but dangit, I'll be back!
So to quickly answer other questions...

I have ideas on how Tenshinhan, Tsuru-Sen'nin and Chaozu, Bulma and Yamcha can all fit. Other characters (Yajirobe, Trunks, Etc) are kind of in the planning stages, but that'll be later.

Quick list of stuff:
  • Roshi might give Kento'un to ChiChi near the beginning of the movie. It'd certainly have to be CGI, though I'm not sure how good it could look. If it looks really ridiculous, well, we have Kuririn to provide snide remarks. Even though it's given to ChiChi, Goku will probably wind up using it as much.
  • Piccolo follows Goku and Gohan to Mt. Paozu, since he's interested in how he was released. He also senses the Four-star ball.
  • Bulma is in the process of stealing the Four-star ball when Gohan and Goku get home. Goku does something impressive before Piccolo shows up and knocks him out. Bulma grabs him and leaves while Gohan holds off Piccolo. (Catch: Why does Bulma bring Goku? Goku needs to show himself useful first, so he should do something impressive before getting knocked out.).
  • But when Bulma makes a pitstop, Goku decides to go back for Gohan (not knowing the way). He doesn't get far, Yamcha steals the car. (Puar might appear in the form of a suspicious-looking cat, but unless the talking and shapeshifting can serve a purpose, interestingly-colored cat will suffice.).
  • Yamcha is beat up before Bulma and Goku can catch him, because at least one of the DBs was in the vehicle. Unless Dr. Gero was able to complete a Dragon Radar before Piccolo was released, Piccolo'd be the only one that could find them. So who attacks Yamcha could be any number of people--Tamberine/Cymbal, TaoPaipai, or possibly Tenshinhan. I like the latter for usefulness, but it doesn't make a great deal of sense, since I'm not thinking of Ten as a member of the RRA.
  • Goku is forced to go back to Kamesen'nin at some point. I kinda think Yamcha should lurk in the shadows (somehow), and Tsuru-Sen'nin and his students should arrive. Now, they aren't with the RRA, but since Tsuru-Sen'nin knows KameSen'nin, someone probably payed him to go try to do something. Either steal a DB or retrieve / destroy Piccolo's jar (Kuririn might have taken it from Mt. Frypan). This leaves room for nods to fights in the series (Chaozu Vs Kuririn, if Chaozu tries to steal things telekinetically while everyone else is distracted; Ten Vs Yamcha, since I can see Yamcha confronting Ten (especially if they fought before) and Ten mocking him since the others wouldn't trust what he had to say anyway...).
  • Like Path to Power, I can see Blue launching a naval attack. I'm thinking that when Tsuru-Sen'nin realizes that Piccolo is behind everything, he'll become rather troubled--he's not a nice guy, but he's not going to willingly help Piccolo, given his past. So I'm seeing Tsuru-Sen'nin jumping on Blue and taking both of them into the ocean, and that's the last we see of either.
  • Piccolo probably gets his wish in the end, which would give us a reason not to wish back people.

Where the characters end up here is important for the sequel(s), and I'm not so sure how that'll turn out. I expect a Tournament near the start of the second, which will be crashed by Raditz, perhaps accompanied by Nappa and Vegeta. The stronger two go off to do their thing, and Raditz gets his fight, but that seems hard to pull off.
I would want Mr. Satan at the 23rd tournament, though, so as to claim the title once the special-effects people (XD) run off.
I'd like Kami to jump in and grab Goku when he's mortally wounded in the fight with Raditz, assuming that Kami makes sense here. Instead of healing him right out, he takes him to his palace, and he has some kinda spirit journey training stuff.
Piccolo might kill Shenron in the first, and restoring him may be a crutial part of this movie, forcing Piccolo and Kami to talk.
The motives of the saiyans are hard to figure out, and what the characters do throughout are likewise difficult to determine.
I'm liking hte idea of combining the Saiyans and Freeza stuff in one movie, as someone else (Snail?) suggested ages ago.
With Vegeta secretly planning to betray Freeza, hence coming to Earth first.
I'm also liking Kaboom's "Namek is difficult to access" idea, and I'd like to use that for Freeza's reasons to go after Earth.
So The saiyans may have come to Earth to pick up Goku to help fight Freeza, but are still not nice, and conflict happens. Vegeta might be the only one with plans to betray Freeza, so Raditz can provide more character drama and make the saiyans look bad at first.
Yajirobe could serve a role as a resistance leader or something, although reconciling that with his personality in the manga is difficult.

I'd also like Gero to propose using his cyborgs when the threat goes public, allowing for some potential interaction with #17 and #18, though in a limited capacity.
Beyond that, the plot here is confusing. I expect Earth will ultimately fall, but not without a spectacular battle (given what I'm wanting to fit in one movie, I'm not sure how Goku Vs Vegeta will work...).

I'm also thinking the third could start with a narration about how an ancient wizard created an uncontrollable bubblegum monster that ravaged the universe, leading to the condition of Freeza and Namek; it turns out Trunks is telling this story to Yajirobe, just before Trunks tries to get onto a resistance spacecraft leaving the Earth to get to Namek before Freeza can make his wish. (Yajirobe stays behind to fight on Earth).

I'd not mind working in Cell, but that's just overkill.
I do think Gero's creations should go to Namek as well, especially if Goku is out of the picture. I'm just not sure what they'd do other than screw things up. Umm, and maybe Kuririn dies, but #18, umm, doesn't, if the hint isn't obvious. :P.
Gohan? I have no idea.

(I'd also like a lot of cameos--Namu's a pretty cool guy. As is Upa, Sno (ur, cool girl?), and that lot. I can see at least one of them fitting in the first movie, given the RRA. With Upa and Bora at Karin tower, they could fit into the second if the Kami thread is followed, and Namu might appear at the tournament, or in a scene of fighting when things get bad in the second. As for Mr. Satan, he can... ur... take credit for Vegeta's defeat, if it happens? :P. And if we use a Genki Dama (it'd have to be later...), he could serve the same purpose as in the Buu saga, I dunno.

Back in 2001, I wrote a movie script on DB, not Z, but from what I remember this is how it happened.

It starts out with the history of the Saiyans, and Bardock fighting Freeza, which will soon lead to Goku landing on planet Earth, where of course Gohan finds him. Years later down the road, an Emporer Pilaf like character, or a character from the live acton Chinese movie, Emporer Pilaf hires people who kill Gohan. Before dying Gohan tells Goku to find Master Roshi. That's when he runs into Bulma. Later they meet the first cast Yamucha, Oolong, Chi-chi, and they make it to Master Roshi's Island.

Master Roshi decides he will train Goku, but then Krillin arrives at the same time. Roshi says he will train only one student, so he suggests they fight to see who wins. They duke it out, Goku wins, but Roshi sees potention in Krillin and decides to train him as well. But there's no time for it yet, becuase they still need the rest of the Dragonballs.

So to sum up the ending, Goku somehow learns the Kamehameha and helps Roshi blast one at Pilaf, the two blast their Kamehameha's. This is where I went all Hollywood and changed something minor, in the middle of the ki blasts, Master Roshi uses the Instant Trasmission and appears behind Pilaf and knocks him out cold. They put the balls together and make a wish, I don't remember what it was. It might have been to save Chichi's village and family.

At the end Roshi tells Krillin and Goku that they are ready to be trained, and for a quick spar, Krillin and Goku go to attack each other, and then it says the end.

That is how I would make my own DB movie....

Let's try going more original with it.

How would start it off?

A silent shot from space of the pod leaving a pinkish-red planet. The planet explodes (silently!) and right as the flash is shown, the opening credits music begins. The little pod barely outruns the explosion.

[Music plays, credits sequence]

The pod crash-lands in the ocean off a tiny island. An older man in a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses opens the pod to find an unconscious boy with a monkey tail inside. [Title: Dragonball]

Night in a big city. A giant ape monster roars as skyscrapers burn under a full Moon.

Roshi instructing a preteen Goku (now without tail) and Krillin in DB-style martial arts, demonstrating the Kamehameha.

Shots of Goku and Krillin at the world tournament, taking down much bigger fighters [references budokai contestants]. Goku takes first, Krillin second.

A girl fighting gangsters (with RR on the backs of their jackets). Teenage Goku jumps in, catching a bullet one thug shot at her back.

Goku carrying tree trunks to the shell of a house being constructed. When he sets them down, ChiChi runs up to him and embraces him.

[Music cuts out at beginning of next scene]

Another space pod streaks towards the Earth.

ChiChi and Goku are flying in a small plane towards Roshi's island. They jump out nearby, the plane collapsing into a capsule in ChiChi's hand and Goku carrying her down. Goku's here to introduce ChiChi to his gramps and old friend Krillin, who he hasn't seen in five years. Roshi and Krillin are shocked to learn that Goku's gotten married.

Friendly catching-up [in-jokes to original], barbeque, Goku eats three cows worth, etc. Goku, Krillin and Roshi suddenly sense something powerful approaching!

It's a guy with a doodad on his face, a tail, a smug look and spikey hair. He says he's Vegeta, Kakarot's older brother, Kakarot's a Saiyan, Saiyans are extinct group of space warriors, he's been looking for his brother for years now, as he needs Goku's help.

On a distant world called Namek, there are magic spheres that can grant any wish. Unfortunately for Vegeta, the Nameks have a champion called Piccolo, whose strength is too great even for a Saiyan to overcome alone...but two Saiyans...

Goku refuses to go along with genocide for a wish of immortality, Vegeta is shocked that Goku's tail is gone. Kakarot was sent here to exterminate the population, but he's settled in. Vegeta scowls and gives Goku an ultimatum - either join him, or Vegeta will just blow the Earth up. Goku attempts to attack, but Vegeta sees it coming and lays him out. Vegeta flies away, saying he'll give Goku a day to think it over...meanwhile, he'll be killing the humans piecemeal. Vegeta blows up a costal city on the horizon to show he's serious.

Goku, Krillin and Roshi decide to fight him. ChiChi noticed Vegeta used the scouter to see Goku's attack, so they go in with the plan to get that off him. Big ol' brawl ensues, Roshi finally manages to take the scouter and toss it far away. With Vegeta's advantage gone Goku, Roshi and Krillin are able to damage him.

Vegeta, enraged over Earthlings and his little brother being able to hurt him, puts Krillin and Roshi out of comission, then flies up and charges the Galic Gun to just blow the planet up. Goku returns fire with the Kamehameha, winning the struggle but leaving him exhausted. Vegeta is badly wounded, but when Goku advances to finish him off, Vegeta pleads with his brother to not give Freeza the satisfaction. Though he doesn't know who Freeza is, Goku can't bring himself to kill Vegeta and allows him to leave.

Celebrations are muted, as they realize that Vegeta could get the Dragonballs anyway and come back for revenge. With the recovered scouter and a spaceship built on Goku's old spacepod, Goku Krillin and ChiChi prepare to head for Namek.

Thought up on the spot, so there's probably a lot of holes that need patching, but...

The concept's pretty awesome on the whole, but this idea was just so damn sexy I had to point it out in particular. Child of Kattatsu I'm assuming?

Also love how you got the Son couple to really seem to care about each other without going ooc, and the battling the Red Ribbon Army together.
