I'm not sure if there's been another thread for these but I just stumbled upon two quick clip shows of the Big Green/UK Dub/AB Groupe dub of DB movies 2 and 3!

Sleeping Beauty in Devil's Castle

Mystical Adventure

The whole movies are still insanely hard to find anywhere, but It's interesting enough to have little clips like this...

Nothing bothers me more than Yamcha's girly voice, or Karin being... A LAAAAAADY.

Also, why is Yamcha calling Lunch a he and a guy?

I don't quite know how to explain it, but these dubs--despite being horrible--are actually... not that bad. I found that some of the voices weren't too out of place at all, and despite the script being totally wrong, it almost felt natural. Call me crazy, but that's how it seems--at least for the Mystical Adventure dub.

Very interesting videos, though! Thanks for sharing.

Maybe watching the entire dub of the Freeza saga addled my brain but these voices actually sound fairly decent. (Or maybe I'm just a sucker for that accent on Bulma in the first clip...hot stuff.)

I have no clue where they are getting this weird terminology from. "Activation Magic Wand"?

What the hell?

I do like Lunch's transformed voice. It could be better with proper voice direction.

...wait, what? Did they just call Lunch a GUY? My God. Atleast they kept in "Son Goku". That's cool. And I like Kuririn's voice.

Wait... the voices are different in both movies? Bulma sounds like a hooker in the Mystical Adventure dub.

I think the biggest problem is that the script calls for the actors to speak incredibly fast to make it through their line as their on-screen character. The voices themselves are generally on par or better than the other English dubs (and it has the best English Kame Sennin and Oolong I've ever heard by far), and the script, while not exactly very close to the original, isn't that bad.

Yeah, it's hardly a great dub, but I really can't understand how people can seriously laugh at how awful this is, then turn around and call the American dub "good".

This clips made me appreciate Funi's dub more

and the fast speaking reminds me of the English dub of Speed Racer

Krelan is full of win.

Not the best dubs ever, but the voices aren't too bad. Considering the script they had to work with, they did a good job.

Okay, so the fast-talking is a result of an Japanese-accurate script, while the incorrect terminology is just inexcusable, or is there a reason behind it?

Also, I like manly-sounding Goku, even though he wasn't in those clips.

Wow, they talk as if this was in 1.5x speed! Even worse than the Z ones, if that's possible. But Bulma's voice? Karin is a girl? Did they just call him Clearin'? Lunch is a guy? They used two voices for Blue?

I think my brain is bruised...

Do you have to bring this up in every thread making fun of the AB Groupe dub? How about just making a thread about it?

Oolong, Puar and Kamesennin look fine to me. Yamcha is really bad, and Bulma is awful, and the rest of the cast is not much better.

Karin being a mistress, and Luch refered as a guy...

And what the hell did they call Krillin?

They called him "Klirrin", which is technically a valid romanization of "Kuririn", weird as it may be.
