Future project: DBZ movie 1 Arabic fan dub

Ok... I brought this matter in another topic, but I decided to do a fan dub of DBZ movie 1: Return my Gohan A.K.A. The Dead Zone.

There are some matters I would like to mention / discuss before I do.

The cast might be as the following:

- Me: Goku, Garlic Jr., Sansho, Muten Roshi, Narrator
- My brother Yousif: Kuririn, Piccolo, Nicky, Ginger
- My Dad: Kami, Shenlong, Gyumaoh
- My Mom: Chichi, Bulma

Slated for Gohan: one of my sisters or one of my younger cousins.

The soundtrack will be altered with my personal choices from the Japanese soundtrack. examples like:
- Henchmen's attack on the Chichi scene: "Saiya-jin Kitaru"
- Goku's fight with Nicky & Ginger: a piece from "Mashinki no Nemuri Hime" the one used for his fight with Chichi in DB.
- Kaim vs Garlic Jr.: the Sparking version of "Sorido Suteeto Sukautah"

- Do want me to keep the original Japanese opening or add the opening of the Arabic dub, or me doing an Arabic version of CHA LA HEAD CHA LA ? Tenkaichi Gohan will be left intact. The ending will be a montage of the movie with the credits along with original Japanese song.

- Where can I get more SFX of the series?! I found this link yesterday http://www.sendspace.com/file/3grmvv and it had a lot of good quality sound effects, but I need a sound effect for Shenlong's bursting out of the dragon balls, a sound effect for Kinto'un, Nyoi Bo and a longer version Kami's eye beam.

I might use other SFX from games like Counter Strike or Alien Shooter.

Is there a larger, better quality version of the original poster and the logo for the DVD cover? ((MUST - SEND - TO - MIKE))




Technical issues:

I tried to alter my voice to resamble Shenlong's voice as a test using All Sound Editor XP, but the best I was able to do was make it more robotic than ever ((If it was a fan dub of the second movie, it might work)). How can I make it deep with echoing feeling?

Is there a better free non-trial DVD ripper than Free DVD Ripper 2.25? I tried to rip DBZ movie 9 ((USA)) but it didn't work. I ripped movie 8 ((MADMAN)) but the quality wasn't good ((there were lines when everything moves)) and no subtitles added...


One more thing... Stone me, but I downloaded an MKV episode of the series. It had three audio tracks and one subtitle track.
I used Prism Video Converter to convert it to avi, but I couldn't convert it without the subtitles + I couldn't choose the audio track and therefore, it ended up as a FUNimation dub with the Japanese subtitles.

I haven't bought the movie yet because I was so busy lately... But I could get either The Ultimet Uncut Edition, or a Double Future from MADMAN.

I can play the Ultimate Uncut since it's region 1,2 and 4; but it's 4:3 and I want it 16:9.
MADMAN's are 16:9 and "propably" better quality, but it's region 4 only and I can't play it on my laptob.

I'll post some test videos in the future to check your opinions.

This sounds awesome... If you can transcribe the Arabic into English phonetically you could probably get some people who have never spoken Arabic to join the cast.

I like the idea of using the Arabic opening too, I'd stick with that.

And once agian, I confirm that I'm a n00b when it comes to the techno terms. ... "Interlacing", huh... Any idea of how to get rid of it from the video?

I forgot to mention the script.

I'll try as best as possible to make it as close to the original script, but I'll change some stuff in order to make it acceptable to the Arabic audience. I know for now that I cannot use the term "God" to descripe Kami, so I might go along with FUNimation and use "Guardian", or any word that fits his position like "Ruler" or something.

If I can find a non time limited or future limited trial version, then I'll use it.
How good is it? can I do visual edits like say, bluring a point without affecting the rest of the image in case I wanted to censor somthing? If so, I'll be able to do my other future project ((not DB related))

I went and bought a Double Future Remastered version of the movie, but................ it's region 4......-_-

So, the project will be delayed till I find a way to deal with this stupid region locking... especialy that MADMAN's anime releases are overwelming the markets and no traces left for region 1 and 2 exept for older releases.

If I may make a suggestion... Rip the movie uncompressed. Working with uncompressed video will provide the best looking finished product.

Ok... I changed my mind about using the remastered version after I saw how the colors looked terrible and too bright to me compared to the old Pioneer release.

So, I ended up using that version ((It's a ripped copy from a friend BTW)), and I tried some adjestments using VertualDub, and here's the result as a split screen

And since I'm not experinced enough with it, I'll take some time till I get used to it. It's size turned to be 249 MB and I wanted it to be 700 MB. and it's having a lot of microblocks.

I started translating the sript today, and expect it to end by the end of this week.

But maybe... maybe I'll do one for DBZ movie 3.
