Goku's third son rumor

I recall reading a rumor a while back, where Goku was supposed to have had a third son called Goshin.

The reason was to be a play on GoTen, GoShin, GoHan.

Does anyone know how this rumor started? Was there any basis for it?

Sounds like one of those stupid rumors that just pops up when your show is as popular as Dragon Ball Z was at that time. When the majority of your internet fanbase is made up of 12 year-old boys who care far too much about online reputations, you'll have people make up all kinds of shit just to look cool.

It was probably some idiot making insane claims, or a little bit of fan speculation, in a fan comic or fanfic maybe?

I actually made up a character called "Goshin" once without one having heard about said rumour or realising that it added up to "Tien".

I only heard of this when Julian mentioned it on what I think was Episode 6 (or was it 7?) of the podcast. And of course I was interested and went off and tried to come up with a 20th aniversory special based on this that effectively turned into the 2008 special, or something like that.

I suspect this rumor did exist, though, as early as dub season3. I knew someone in sixth grade who ... thought he knew things, such as how Super Saiyan 3 has white hair, how many Jupiters an SSJ4 can destroy, how Vegeto's power kept increasing until he finally exploded (at SSJ7...), how Vegeto was Piccolo/Vegeta fusing...
Anyway, I think he said something about Vegeta having a son named Yohan (this was at the time when I wasn't expecting Vegeta to stay in the cast past the Freeza Saga), and I found out about Trunks via a poster that was given to us when we bought I think one of the PS1 games (UB22?).
So another person, at one point, talks about how Vegeta has two kids, and my answer is "Yeah; Trunks and Yohan!"
And that's how I learned about Bra. XD.

Later, the person that informed me that Vegeta does, in fact, not have a son named Yohan recounted the event, but remembered me saying "Trunks and Goshan" instead. Which leads me to believe that "Goshan" might be a butchering of "Goshin" ala this rumor.

Or, you know, maybe I'm reading too much into it. XD

It must have been #6, since that was the "embarrassing secrets" episode, and Episode 7 was dedicated to Turles.

It's likely to be just a fanfiction character from a few years back when writing fanfictions was big. Some of the fanfictions did rock a few rumours with websites reporting what is actually total trash.

I remember Goshin being Goku's third son coming from a joke explanation (by fans) as to why Goten is so young in NMZ5.

"Because... it's NOT Goten! It's Goshin, Goku's third son born in the 10-year gap between the Boo saga and 28th budokai! He couldn't take part in the budokai because Chichi was making him study, is all!"

I also remember Goshin from a fanfic in which he was Gohan's son in a story that ignored GT.

This thread gives me flashbacks of all sorts of geocities websites plastered with DBAF images and synopsis for episodes, mainly because one site had some character who was basically Goku all over again, possibly called "Goshin" or something more stupid.

Especially all the ones with entirely made-up, incredibly absurd power levels attached to each form of each character. I do believe they went into the trillions, according to their charts.

Yea, its not true. The end.

We don't need 2 pages of people telling him it's not true. I know that sounds a bit harsh coming from me but, I' am just thinking about when the forum goes down next week we could have maybe prevented it by a few hours, a day, two days... Whatever. I' am not an administrator, you don't have to listen to me.

Damn it, and here I thought I was being original with Goshin to be my DBO name.

I remember as a freshman in highschool hearing about Goku's third son. The rumor I heard was his name was Goku Jr, but he wasn't a fighter. He was a complete mommy's boy, always clinging to Chi Chi.

Then I grew up and learned of GT, that Goku Jr actually exists but not in Z.

I remember some stupid girl, which claimed on wiki answers, that she posses the DVD's with some DBAF stuff from Japan

She claimed that there are 750 episodes total, plus some planned spinoff to DBZ. Each DVD for 8 dollars and this TV series broadcasts Only in Asia and Philippines
