What's your favorite BGM?

Mine is Track 24 on Disc 2 on the 5 CD Set.

EDIT: It's Haran No Tenkaichi Budoukai.

Gotta go with Kikuchi's Piccolo's theme. Every time he enters and that awesome BGM plays...man, I melt...

They really don't have a name. Just "Prolouge & Subtitle.".

For me it would have to be the choral piece used in Dragonball Movie 2, Dragonball episode 081, DBZ episode 027 and a few episodes in the Freeza Arc.

It was included on disc 5, track 2, piece 'd' of the 5 CD set (though sadly the instrumental version has never been released). You can listen to an example of the song hereat 3:29 (pretty badass ain't it!). I can go on and on and on about every aspect of this song and how it has been used (which I habve done here before), but you can basically sum it up by saying that it is an amazing dramatic piece, and if you take the time to watch the scenes it is used in (here's one), it seems sooooo much better.

Agreed! Its a good song and was some of the first JAP BGM I ever heard.

Mine is the first piece of BGM heard in the song 'Karin-sama of Karin Tower', on the five disk set. It's first heard when Goku reaches the top of Karin Tower.

"Son Goku to Piccolo Daimou". I really like the whole 'Peter and the Wolf' thing where the instruments represent the characters. It's from Disc 4.
On hiatus.

I never know how to respond to this question. One reason for that is because my tastes keep changing, and there's just so many wonderful pieces that I keep rediscovering some of them and begin to appreciate others for what they are.
In any case, here's my stock answer:

The Darkest Hour, from DragonBall (unreleased). You'll hardly find another piece in the entire series that embodies such riveting suspense as this incredible theme, which utilizes a bass drum as its primary instrument. A somber tone from a bell signals the start of the composition, and all the while a low-humming instrumental accompaniment can be heard droning on in the background. A hi-hat cymbal trills its way through one statement of the main phrase, a successive BOM-BOM-BOM... BOM-BOM-BOM... BOM-BOM-BOM... until the somber bell sounds again, cuing the drum to change frequency: BA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA... BA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA... and then, finally, it builds up into a spectacular, seat-gripping finish.

It's the first song on this video, though incomplete.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

I completely agree. It's an immensely tense piece of music, and fits so well with so many scenes. Are you sure this was never released ? I was sure this was on my Complete BGM set..
EDIT(Now that I'm not typing on my PS3..): My favourite example of this BGM was when things seemed hopeless against Freeza, and Goku was forced to use the Genki Dama. This music kicked in, and I was shocked, it just felt so much more tense than the version I was used to, even though I knew what was going to happen! It was one of the first Japanese clips I ever saw, and one of the reasons I left the dub in favour of it.

Nope, never released, and if it was it wouldn't be on the BGM Collection anyway, since it's originally from DragonBall and that CD set only features songs that were composed specifically for Z.

Do you mean the beginning of episode 92, just after Goku has tried his 20x Kaioken Kamehameha on Freeza? Yeah, that was the very first time I really soaked in the music, was when I got that DVD (I had seen a bunch of fansubs previous to this, but for some reason never registered that theme in my head). It's the scene where Freeza first realizes Goku is much more of a problem than he originally chalked him up to be, and then he clenches his first and screams "SAIYAjin-me!" ("You damn Saiyan!") I had thought for sure the music had been composed FOR that scene, it fit so well.
But then I got the King Piccolo Saga DVDs and watched the scene where Kame Sennin declares to Piccolo that his master was Mutaito-sama. Still not the first instance of this song being used, but BOY, does it fit.

I see. Well in that case, the Youtube video you linked to, was that a rip from the season sets? Or from the old mono soundtrack? I think we'd be able to get a good rip if somebody like Colonel Silver (from Youtube) were able to get their hands on the scenes this is featured!

That was colonelsilver's video  I'm pretty sure he ripped it from the old mono soundtrack... but about a year and half ago, SelMod ripped me an mp3 from the Season 3 set that's completely devoid of sound effects.

The Darkest Hour, about halfway down the page

It's still edited in such a way that the first few seconds are looped, and the volume goes down a bit during a part where the characters were talking, but so far, this is the best we can get!

Anyway...

If you mean the bell theme from DBZ when he's training Gohan, then yes, I love it, too. That's part of my recent disappointment in DB Kai, that the scene where Piccolo tells Gohan he just has to live didn't feature something with the same amount of oomph. I mean, Yamamoto gave it a good try, but it just isn't the same.

The songs I remember the names to that I really enjoy are Strongest Vs. Strongest, We Gotta Power, Hikari No Will Power and Saik You No Fusion.

I know these are themes and are not BGM but I dont actually own any of the soundtracks (would have no idea where to start) and these are the only tracks I can remember names for that I had enjoyed :)
