Yajirobei's Name
Yajirobei's Name
I think Yajirobei's name comes from an early 19th century Japanese novel by Jippensha Ikku called Hizakurige which is sort of the Huckelberry Finn of Japan. One of the main characters is a fat peasant named Yajirobei. I'm pretty sure this is who Yajirobei's supposed to be loosely based on but I've never seen anything else that says so. Does anybody else have any ideas?

Re: Yajirobei's Name
Well... Toriyama said that he wanted a very "Japanese" sounding name for the character... so it's quite possible...Tom Servo wrote:I think Yajirobei's name comes from an early 19th century Japanese novel by Jippensha Ikku called Hizakurige which is sort of the Huckelberry Finn of Japan.
