"Budokai 2" Audio Identification

Post by VegettoEX » Mon Nov 08, 2004 1:25 pm

In order to pass the time waiting for Budokai 3, I've taken up the task of creating my own damn soundtrack from Budokai 2. For the most part, I can identify all of the music I've ripped (and what I can't I just need to play through "Dragon World" to see which belongs to which stage).

But here's a few (really short ones) I can't figure out. MP3 @ 112 kbps. All well under 1 MB.

- http://www.daizex.com/misc_stuff/music/Adx_jp_263.mp3
- http://www.daizex.com/misc_stuff/music/Adx_jp_280.mp3
- http://www.daizex.com/misc_stuff/music/Adx_jp_282.mp3

Also, do specific stages have specific battle BGMs, or is it random? Do battle stages get their own NEW battle BGM in Dragon World mode? The music sounds so similar, I can't tell :?.

Let's see!

145- Beginning or end of a stage or training!
263- The ending in both Budokai 1 & 2.
280- Story mode soundtrack. I only remember it from B1. (Goku, Raditz, MAKANKOSAPO!!!)(GINYU ... [SPECIAL FORCE] ... RECOOME!!!)
282- Lost in the Tournament, I think!

Can be different between regions(US, Europe, Japan)! That's all I can say off memory! Any more?
Fry: Wow. The jungles on Mars look like the jungles on Earth.
Prof. Farnsworth: Jungles? On Earth? (laughs)

Yeah, I'm definitely recognizing some from the first Budokai game, but just unsure as to where they're from in the second game.

282 does sound like it would be losing World Tournament, but this one is definitely that (confirmed by playing); are there two songs that could play when you lose? I think I've determined that there are two different songs that can play when you go into "Edit Skills" / Shopping (and please correct me if I'm wrong on that).

Thanks for this and any additional help!

OK, here are the three pieces I just haven't heard, for the life of me, playing through all of "Dragon World" and various other modes:

- http://www.daizex.com/misc_stuff/music/Adx_jp_281.mp3
- http://www.daizex.com/misc_stuff/music/Adx_jp_282.mp3

Now, I didn't get all 7 DragonBalls this play-through (*smacks head*), so one of them might be when you summon Shenlong. Seriously, though... didn't hear any of these three.

I've also got files 68 - 87; that's an even twenty. They all appear to be various battle BGMs. (Was there even 20 different battle BGMs in the game?!? Fooled me.) I could use some help answering the following questions:

- Are there battle BGMs that only play in Dragon World?
- Are there battle BGMs that only play in World Tournament?
- Do specific stages in VS have specific themes to them?

Don't really want to sit through hours of more playing just to figure it all out if someone already happens to know the answer(s) ^^;;. Thanks!

EDIT: Oh, oh, oh! Is 282 when you lose World Tournament, but still win some amount of money (thus coming in second-place)? I think so...!

The first is a tune that plays when something bad or forboding is happening in the story mode of Budokai 1.

The second is a tune that plays when there is a triumphant moment in the story mode of Budokai 1.

I think you're right about the third.
To a strong man, the end justifies the means. To a stronger man, the means justify the end.

The thing is... these are ripped from Budokai 2, not Budokai 1. While they could just be a couple somehow-leftover tracks, that doesn't seem to make much sense. Anyone know if they're actually used in the second game?

Thanks for the help! :)

The first one is a B1 theme which I never heard in B2.
The second is the theme you here after you've beaten Kid Buu (at least in the Jap. Version)
The 3rd one is one I don' recognise

The first two I've heard in the European B1 game only. The sencond song was for if i remember (I liked playing story mode a lot!):

- Next chapter.
- Goku changing back to his normal self from Ginyu.
- What if story end for Freeza.

That's all I remember!

Actually, to be clear, the second song in Budokai 1 was not used for triumphant moments in particular. It was the Episode Preview song.

First post, Yay.

Okay, To identify:

145 = Training Mode Success
263 = The theme used in Budokai 1 when Goku announced he would stay in the other world.
280 = Budokai 1 Theme, in Scenes such as: "Ginyu Force Arrival" , "Gohan preparing to fight Cell".
282 = Game Over in Dragon World.

I hope I've cleared 282 for you :) .

Editage:

Apologies for bumping this old topic, But I realised you were having trouble identifying 282 ^_^.
