New Dragonball games and Atari problems?
New Dragonball games and Atari problems?
Hello
Will the recent problems Atari is having effect the release of the new games announced? As we know Atari owns the rights to publish Dragonball games but now with recent events e.g Atari unable to release ghostbusters in pal region, Will this effect anything?
Namco Bandai releases stuff in Pal regions for Atari. Bandai release Japanese Dragonball games could Pal regions now get the Japanese versions instead?
I hope the Japanese version is not what we get in Pal regions. Don't get me wrong I am in no way insulting the Japanese version but when I am playing with friends they all seem to prefer English voices. They won't play it in Japanese as they just want to understand everything.

Ghostbusters was a completely different situation that happened to involve Sony.SSJmole wrote:Hello

There should be no problems with DBZ games, especially in Europe. Infogrames has that "Distribution Partners" business going on with Namco-Bandai which involves agreements to distribute their games in Europe, and since they've recently agreed to sell a 66% stake in that business directly to Namco-Bandai...
... and combine that with the fact that the 360/PS3 game listed on the Namco-Bandai fiscal report specifically listed Japan and Europe...
... don't worry about it.
Americans, on the other hand, might want to be a little more concerned. With Namco-Bandai (the people who actually make the games) striking up their own deals directly with the European branches of Infogrames, it remains to be seen how this will affect the Atari brand and their ownership of the distribution in America, especially with the current contract ending in January 2010.
In terms of getting the Japanese version.... well, with the exception of Super DragonBall Z and the actual native-Japanese releases of the games, hasn't every single major console release since the Budokai 3: Greatest Hits release included selectable voice tracks? I don't see what the issue here, is. I suppose you could argue that if Atari's license doesn't get renewed with FUNimation, there might not be English voice tracks... but the money is too good for all parties involved to not bother continuing/renewing.

Yeah, pretty much.VegettoEX wrote:Americans, on the other hand, might want to be a little more concerned. I'd say the chances of Atari distributing the game in America are about 90%, considering the money is just way too good to pass up.

Ah, Sorry I was not 100% sure on everything going on. just knew they were in trouble. Honestly even if it does not effect Pal regions I'd feel bad if it effected USA releases as that would suck to them.
Here Budokai 1 was not English either. But yes I was worried about no English track in our release as that would mean no one would play multiplayer with me.
Also if American release is in question or in trouble won't that effect the English voices? Honestly I don't see FUNimation recording voices if it does not get to be released in usa.

It was subtitled in English though. Although they had some ridiculous lines.SSJmole wrote:Here Budokai 1 was not English either.

Also, that was well before the era when they started doing the dual-language releases. Like I said, post-Budokai 3: Greatest Hits, I think Super DragonBall Z was the only single-language release on a non-handheld console (and even then, the PSP games had English/Japanese selectable options).Kid Trunks wrote:It was subtitled in English though.
