Amazon Japan has posted the cover art for the first volume of both the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD releases. There's an update about it over on Kanzentai with the images. So, what do people think of Yamamuro Naoyoshi's new artwork?

So this'll be in 4:3 right? That's make it worth checking out at least.

The Blu Ray releases will be 4:3, DVDs will be 16:9. No one knows why.

And those covers look beautiful.

Probably to promote the use of Blu-Ray over DVD because most Dragonball fans prefer to watch Dragonball-related material in its intended aspect ratio.

Hey, if anyone wants to see the DVD cover art in greater detail, here is a bigger version. I know it's not as clear as it could be but it gets the job done. I'm kinda glad they added that phrase "A journey that began long ago...". That is such an awesome saying...

I still don't get why R2 releases like Naruto and DBK have to type the title in plain text instead of just making the actual logo bigger.

Yeah, that sealed it for me. Went ahead and pre-ordered the first two Blu-ray releases.

Of course the fact that I start my new job tomorrow helped make my decision easier. :)

My copy of the first Blu-ray volume should be showing up today, me-hopes. While I don't have a Blu-ray drive to rip and take caps with, I'll at least try to take some off-screen comparison photos and such.

Wow, he managed to not show us in the screens if there was a hole or a burn/bruise.

My Blu Ray came in today. I'll try to take some pics later if I'm not swamped with work.
