In a small forum like this I doubt that it would matter.
Names are just names. What we care about is what you write.

That's why I said most, I know some people use names, i actually use a combination of both, but focus more on avatars

I don't think name changes are granted, save for special circumstances (Wasted Wisher registered under a different name; his was changed because it was originally similar to another member's name). I think if Mike wanted to allow users to change their names he would have enabled the option to do so within the "profile" page (phpBB has such an option).

Name changes are usually annoyances since people abuse them and pretend they're someone else, yadda yadda. But with a small forum like this, that wouldn't necessarily be a problem.

Well, a couple years ago, I would have said yes.

HOWEVER, my name is part of what defines me, as is my avatar. I haven't messed with either since I joined.

The fact that I am a guy with a name like Big MOMMA is kinda like my trademark, I suppose.
