What the hell to do...

Post by SuperSaiyan3Goku » Wed Jul 22, 2009 4:04 am

With the recent news of the year being Funi finally releasing the Dragon Boxes, I have a dilemma: I have most of the Remastered sets (1,2,3,6,7,8,9), a few box sets from Funi's original run, with 3 to 5 discs per set. (Freeza, Cell Games, Majin Buu, and Fusion exceptions, with Freeza topping at 9)

I'm planning on keeping the old Funi releases, because I have a personal bond with those DVDs, (First few items bought online, I bought one at Suncoast for 60 bucks  ) but the only thing I want the Remastered sets for is when you un-sleave each set, you get the Dragonball Z logo. Is it just me, or am I crazy for owning DVDs just for an image?

If I can find a way to get rid of these sets, than I would gladly buy the Dragon Boxes Or maybe I'll have enough space on my bookshelf for the Dragon Boxes and the Remastered sets AND the old Funi releases.

My main problem is, I want to keep the Remastered sets for the image, but I want the Dragon Boxes for the quality of the series.
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

Keeping them for the spine art is kind of silly, but if you'd rather have that than the money, who am I to tell you otherwise?

I'd sell the bricks if I was planning on buying the Dragon Boxes though.

Well, if you want them all to keep just for the sake of display, then by all means, keep them. But the space can be problematic sometimes. If you have closet shelf, then thats good. Or buy some shelves from the store. I'd keep all the boxsets if I were you because of beautiful boxarts :)

Really, it's up to you to decide whether you want to do it or not.

Yeah, keeping them for the Spine is kinda silly, because just having them on a shelf is good enough to look at. :P I am planning on buying the bricks, though... I just never thought Funi was going to do a Dragon Box release, an I was dead-set on getting Remastered seasons 4 and 5. :?:

that's kinda norma, I'm really shocked sometimes about, why some collectors have some things......
But I think that have the DVD's is only because of have some show or movie in physical form and because of that ''image'', otherwise we will download it.....

I was wondering the exact same thing with my remastered sets, I plan on just taking some pics for memories sake, and selling them off.

Well, I can't really offer good advice, since I might not buy them all. If you need the money to get the DBOXes, then I would say sell them. If you can still afford them, then if you really want your Season Sets, then go ahead and keep them.

The Dragonboxes have spine art anyway, so you may as well sell the season sets.

Meh, I'm with you.

Now, while I love anime, dragonball in particular, my true love is movies. I have multiple version of many different DVDs.

I actually still need seasons 8 and 9, and I full intend on getting both of those, and rebuying the entire series in dragonbox form.

To Hell with Packaging, buy the one that has the Video/Audio that you want.

The Packaging doesn't matter, what matters is that you have the content on the discs that you want.

You could just gut the Season Sets and put the DragonBox discs inside them while you store the DragonBox package with the Season Sets disc somewhere else.

._.

I thought of trashing the DBOX discs and replacing them with SS discs.

I just might for thinking of that. You do NOT touch the Dragon Box discs for any purposes other than viewing or caressing!

The Dragon Boxes packaging is looking damn nice, I'd personally happily take it over the logo.

....

What sane person would ever let the thought of trashing the Dragon Box discs in favor of the SS ones ever slip into their head?

Blasphemy! (That putting Dragon Box discs into the SS packaging idea does sound good... :P

All we've seen of the FUNiBoxes' spine art is Goku's hand, and I can STILL tell it's gonna be better than the Season Sets' art.

Sell those suckers and getcho'self some DragonBox sexiness, fool!
