Spirit Bomb

Post by DragonBalllKaiHD » Mon Aug 10, 2009 4:04 pm

Yo, y'all. The thought came to my mind regarding Spirit Bomb's destructive force. When a small Spirit Bomb hit Vegeta, it almost killed Vegeta. Well, since he was pure evil at that time, right? So when Goku threw a ~huge~ Spirit Bomb to Freeza and Buu, it didnt instantly destroy them. I remember Goku saying to Gohan if he has a pure of heart, he would be able to bounce it back. But weren't Spirit Bombs on a good side? The wierd aliens are both pure evil, which means they shouldn't able to bounce it back, right?

I'm noty sure I undestand, neither of them bounced it back, they just didn't die because the Genki damas weren't strong enough

I thought he was saying that the Spirit Bomb just exploded when it hit Vegeta, whereas Freeza and Buu were able to put their hands to it and push against it.

This is a good point. If it was possible to contact it without being injured whether you're good or evil, the whole "it's on your side, Gohan" thing is pointless. I guess the only "in-universe" explanation that springs to mind is that for someone pure-hearted like Goku or Gohan (and Chi-Chi technically, 'cause kinto'un accepted her...) it would be impossible to be killed by a Genki Dama - it would be like trying to drown a fish in water. For someone evil but not that powerful, it will fuck them up. Someone evil and insanely powerful would be able to at least try to deflect it by focusing all their ki on their hands (or whatever it is that people do to deflect projectiles in DBZ).

If that's true, it sounds like the Devilmite Beam (Akkumaito Kousen) would actually be better than the Genki Dama since it works on a similar principal, doesn't need to be charged up or contributed to and will kill a totally evil person without any bouncing back stuff.

I think Genki Dama destroys whatever it touches. It doesn't decide if something's evil or good first. It crushes mountains and can even destroy the planet you're trying to protect, as Kaio put it. But you do, supposedly (maybe only according to non-manga material, I don't remember) need a pure heart/mind to gather and manipulate the energy from everything. Gohan might have pure-hearted-manipulated the ball back in the right direction.

Long story short, maybe pure hearted people can manipulate it (aka reflect it). But getting hit in the back would still hurt. Probably.
