Faulconer Dub Legal Ownership Rights
This is a question for anyone, but I'm assuming the only person who can actually answer this is Scott Morgan. Who legally owns the copyrights to the Faulconer dub at this point? Does Faulconer still own any rights to his music, or does it fall into a category of being effectively sold to Funimation? And to that end, though I know no more CDs are coming out, if another Best of DBZ CD were to release, what entity (Faulconer Productions Music or Funimation) would be responsible for it?
(In case anyone's wondering why I asked, I'm taking an Intellectual Property class in law school and it got me curious. Also, the guys responsible for the Yu-Gi-Oh! dub score have been releasing tons of music from the show for free download, which means that they were either cleared to do so by 4Kids or they own the rights to their own music.)

I believe Faulconer himself has stated to fans in email that Funi will not let him release more CDs.
Also if you look on the inside of the CD jackets it says:
SR 2001, 200x FAULCONER PRODUCTIONS MUSIC USED WITH PERMISSION.
(SR stands for Sound Recording)
And you can easily assume its with permission from Funimation.
Sorry, I have to phrase it like that... =\

Here's the link to the Yugioh composer's YouTube profile, which includes the information for downloading the music. http://www.youtube.com/user/otmny It's an FTP site, so if you can't access it, PM me and I'll give you the link to a site that you can get all of it from. Note that it's free, so there is no copyright infringement going on here.
To get back to DBZ, if Funi owns the music rights, does anyone have any idea why they'd tell Faulconer to stop releasing CDs?

This is definitely not true. The sentiment was that the Japanese score was too dated, sparse, and campy sounding for American audiences.Amigo Ten wrote:I believe one of the main reasons Funi did their own BGM was so they could charge royalties and make money from it
The CD release idea came later, from Bruce himself.
If anything the new music was an expense at first. Also I don't know how much they make from the CDs, but I bet it's not a lot.
