Super Saiyan Mystic Gohan?

Post by The S » Sat Nov 27, 2004 11:49 pm

Okay, we all know that there is no Super Saiyan Mystic Gohan (let's throw out the fact that GT allows him to transform, shall we?). However, lots of official DBZ merchandise in the US has the title "Super Saiyan Mystic Gohan" (or sometimes "Super Saiyan 2 Mystic Gohan") on it, including action figures and such.

The thing is, what they are referring to, is simply SS Gohan wearing the outfit Kibito materialized for him. Which is clearly before he recieved the Chou/Mystic/Ultimate power-up unlocked by Rou Dai Kaioshin.

So my question is, why is he referred to as "Super Saiyan Mystic"? Bad research? Hindsight? Stupidity? Or just a marketing ploy?
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

I'd say bad research, another case of this is probably the "Ginyu in Goku's body" (w/ scouter) figure that is sold as if it were nothing more than a basic Goku figure.

Well, Mystic Gohan was in the Kibito clothes for about a minute before Kibito gave him Goku's gi, so maybe the figures are from then!

I think it's just FUNi foolishly labelling things.

And "Mystic" is a fan term anyway. Why would they even think of including it?

Same reason they'd include 'Fat', 'Super', and 'Kid' for Buu's forms?

Arent those the official names for Buu? I thought the fan names were Gohan Buu, Gotenks Buu, ect. But yeah, Funi does kinda go overboard with their character labiling. *cough Majuub cough*

Buu does refer to himself as "Super Buu".

Fat Buu is logical enough.

Kid Buu was tacked on by FUNi

Actually, in the manga, he is only refered to as Majin Buu. Super Buu was a dub name.

Perhaps Son Gohan is labeled "Mystic" not because of the whole Rou Kaioushin power-up, but because of his clothes. He was wearing the Kaioushin clothing, and that seems kinda "mystic."
And I could be (and probably am) wrong, but I think I remember reading in the manga "Super Boo." But in the character pages at the beginning of the tankoubon, he is always referred to as just "Majin Boo."
I was voted "most unique" and "most likely to become the next existential thinker" in high school.

Well, the only people that called him by name were Gotenks and Piccolo, and they always refered to him as Majin Buu.

Not to go off topic, but Funimation doesn't use the name "Fat Buu" anymore, if they ever did. On their website/merchandise/Budokai 3, the fat Boo is named "Majin Buu", despite the fact that they are ALL Majin Boo. I think they are trying to avoid using that term, for whatever reason.
