What character would you have given a bigger role?
After the Saiyan/Namek Saga, many of the characters became obsolete. By the Androids Saga only Piccolo and the Saiyans were even relevant to the figths. By the Buu saga, Piccolo was out and you basically had to be a fused Saiyan to be remotely impressive. (Or Gohan, who didn't even get to take advantage of his cheap 20-episode-long powerup)
So, out of any of the characters, which one would you have given a bigger role and how would you have accomplished it? For me, I would have wanted Piccolo to have found a way to keep up with the Saiyans like he had been all along. He could always fuse with another Namekian, although that would become somewhat overdone. Maybe the next time he did it they could have added a twist, like give him a transformation because of all of the namekian spirits he has within him.

I would have liked to have seen Tenshinhan develop his spiritual/psychic powers more. He could have been up there with Cell and Buu had he been able to read their thoughts and anticipate their moves. After all you can't hurt what you can't hit.

Yajirobe, if only because his debut and unofficial retirement are so close together. He was funny. :<
And, I don't know about a bigger role, but I would at least try to make Gohan before the Cell Games actually relevant. Before that point, he's a glorified human.

It doesn't matter if he can read their thoughts if he's not fast enough to get out of the way.Sunlight & City Night wrote:I would have liked to have seen Tenshinhan develop his spiritual/psychic powers more. Anyway, I'm predictably going to say ChiChi. She's obviously a skilled martial artist, as she makes it to the finals of the World Tournament, she was trained by a student of Roshi just like Goku was, and it's still the part of the series where humans can be players without having some bullshit powerup like people whine that Tien should've had.
Plus, Chichi's an OG. She was in the series long before Krillin or Tien, before Yamcha was even a good guy.
And it wouldn't be a huge stretch to get her in on the Kami training all the other humans do. If she survives the Saiyan fight, she could get her potential unlocked on Namek like Krillin did.

Well it's a toss up between Gohan and Piccolo here.
Gohan should have been the one to save the day, since the torch was passed to him after the Cell Saga. Goku should have just stayed out of it, since he was dead and couldn't always be there. This would have forced Gohan to step up. He could have still gotten the power up, but have it so that he would have had to surpass even this to go to another level.
Piccolo could have become more powerful if after Dabura was defeated and Vegeta rebelled, Babidi (after recognizing him as Piccolo Daimao) brought Piccolo under his control.
After having a short return of Piccolo Daimao so to speak, Dende could have come up with a way to return Piccolo to good by infusing him with the Dragoballs that Kami created (we would learn at this point that Dende created entirely new balls and had the old ones stored somewhere at the lookout).
Tricking Piccolo into thinking that since these dragonballs were made by Kami and are infused with his essence, absorbing them would make him even more powerful (on top of the Majin boost). Piccolo falls for this, but with the powerup comes the goodness from Kami's esscence which would restore Piccolo back to normal.

Launch. She just disappeared without a proper farewell and I would've liked to have seen her hang around. Also, she never got to meet Vegeta. (Well, admittedly they're both in "Ossu!", but they're never introduced properly.) I would've liked to have seen them meet; I feel there would've been potential for comedy in that.

I wanted Piccolo to have a bigger role than just training Goten and Trunks. After the Majin Boo Saga, he is still an important character but I felt disappointed when he was completely cut out from the fighting. In the Boo Saga, you had to either be a ridiculously powerful Super Saiyan or a fused character. And Piccolo was neither. The most action he got was slicing Bobbodi in half.
I wish Launch had at least stayed as part of the Dragon Ball Z team. I mean, I thought she was a really good character and it would've been interesting to see more of her personality switches. For her to just simply disappear at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z was frankly a let-down. "Chasing Tenshinhan" was just an excuse for her to piss off to God-knows-where. The filler episode that depicted a grief-stricken Launch in a pub downing drinks was good, but then what?
Personally, I don't think the humans could've possibly been given a bigger role. They had already done so much in Dragon Ball and the Saiyan Arc in DBZ. Once Super Saiyan rolled around and Piccolo achieved yet another tremendous power boost, the humans were about as much help to the heroes as Chi-Chi was to Goku. It's simply that they just weren't strong enough to do anything significant, apart from Tenshinhan's Shin Ki-Ko-Ho. So it does rile me when DB fans complain that the humans weren't given a bigger role post Saiyan/Namek Arc. Even the Shin Ki-Ko-Ho was pushing it.

I would have liked to see the oldschool DB gang be useful beyond the Saiyajin arc.
Yamcha, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Chiaotzu. They as a whole make up a feel of oldschool DB that sort of died when they all died in the Saiyajin arc. It would have been nice if they'd actually been able to at least keep pace with say Piccolo. It would have been kick ass to see Yamcha actually put up a fight against the Artificial Humans, rather then just get a hole in his chest.
