How are the DBGT Green Bricks?
Exactly as the title asks. Are they worth it? What are the pros and cons?
-Blurred because of remastering. You probably won't notice it.
-No Japanese title cards.
... That about does it for cons, as far as I can see. I personally would hold out for DBOXes of GT, if only to have that super slick cover art. Image from Kanzentai:

But we'll see. I have this Malaysian tv box set (which is higher res quality of the old Super5 fan subs) which I am happy with. I was just curious since I could pull off picking the green sets up for like 30-40 dollars total for both.

No next episode previews... you know, the ones that were on the original FUNimation singles.
[quote="Brakus"]For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". Are the bricks Progressive? That may be reason enough to pick them up alone on that reason.

After watching all of GT with the GBs, I say you don't notice the blur unless you pause the video and see it really close.
No Japanese title cards, but at least you hear it from the narrator, and no NEPs.

Pros: Uncropped picture, accurate colors, new English-dubbed material (English DanDan FTW), decent-for-FUNi-with-DB dub, TV special is included, usual price and package benefits of Season Sets.
Cons: Mediocre show to begin with, ever-so-slight blurring from DVNR (I don't even notice it, honestly), interlaced, missing previews, no angles = FUNi's own logos and title cards instead of original.

If you absolutely have to have the next episode previews and Japanese title cards & credits, get the original singles/box set compilations. They still run at decent prices online and in stores.
If you want English dubbed songs, Japanese score with the dub (both of which I actually found rather enjoyable), slightly cleaned up/remastered picture, and a better price per episode/per set ratio, get the Green GT Season Sets.
Both have roughly the same video quality, except some minor video editing on the credits. I personally recommend the GT Season Sets, just because of the price to get the whole series and the fact that the TV special is included basically free of charge...
As for the quality of the show itself.... it's wildly inconsistent. I enjoy watching occasional episodes or arcs, but the series as a whole is mediocre.

Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.
Re: How are the DBGT Green Bricks?
So I picked up Season 1 off of Amazon with a gift card I had. I must say that I am very happy with it. I don't really notice this blur people mentioned either.
I think the video quality is very good and I'm happy with the audio options (though I would have totally been happy with the cutting of the US broadcast track and just upping the quality of the Japanese track
). Overall, well worth the $25 USD.
I can't wait to get my other gift card so I can pick up Season 2 (gotta love Amazon rewards points).
However, I would pick up a Dragon Box equivalent of this just because I really love next episode previews XD;

Re: How are the DBGT Green Bricks?
Pros:
- Uncropped and uncut video
- "Step into the Grand Tour" is gone.
- Awesome English-dubbed opening and ending themes are added
- The Goku Jr special is included on Season Two
- The typical price-per-episode advantage of the Season Sets
- Did I mention that "Step into the Grand Tour" is gone?
- Adding the original BGM makes the dub good at best and tolerable at worst
Cons:
- It's GT.
- The remastered footage is a tiiiiny bit blurry. (I personally don't even notice it unless I get close)
- The footage is Interlaced instead of Progressive like the DB/Z Seasons and the DragonBoxes.
- The Japanese title cards are omitted in favor of FUNi's, and FUNi's GT logo is likewise in place of the original in the opening.
- The Next-Episode previews were in the single releases but omitted from the Green Bricks for some reason.
The pros outweigh the cons, if you ask me. But I'd happily hock off both my green bricks if FUNi releases a GT DragonBox.

Re: How are the DBGT Green Bricks?
Yes the english title cards are "blah" to me (especially after watching dragonbox volume 1), but it's not terrible.
Would you be able to supply me with a side by side comparison between progressive and interlaced? I've always wondered this. I understand the logic behind why progressive is suppose to be significantly better than progressive, but I really don't think I've ever noticed a difference. Were the original singles progressive?
The removal of "Step into the Grand Tour" is definitely worth two pro spots XD. I actually checked that audio track to see if it would have came up during the intro. It's okay though, if I really want to listen to it, I have the original release of the special ^_^;;
One thing I did notice is the booklet that came with the set. I didn't realize the season sets came with a decent information booklet. Granted, I didn't actually read it, I just skimmed through it to see what it offered, more than I expected.
EDIT: Is it just me or does it get super bright at certain parts where it shouldn't? I was just checking out the second version of the intro on the 5th disc and it gets super bright towards the end when Bebi attacks them and Goku does his kamehameha.

Re: How are the DBGT Green Bricks?
*I was going to make a topic like this, too*
I already have most of the GT singles from a few years ago. The Japanese version is PERFECT from those DVDs, and that's really all I want now.
I was going to get the Green Bricks, but finding out that the episode previews, Japanese title cards, and credits are gone, then I'd rather watch the singles.
The only reason I wanted the Green bricks was because of the Funimation dub mixed in with the Japanese BGM. I hate, hate, hate, HAAATE "Step Into The Grand Tour". Absolute garbage. I have a feeling that if Funi decides to bring out the GT Dragonboxes, the same thing would happen. So I'm just gonna hold out for those sets and pass on the Green Bricks.

This is was one of the best anime songs of the last decade, and it was a genius move on FUNi's part to replace that 'Dan Dan' mess with this brilliant and well-enunciated song.I hate, hate, hate, HAAATE "Step Into The Grand Tour". Absolute garbage.
Also, I smoke crack.
