DragonBall DS 2: Charge! Red Ribbon Army! Official Thread

Post by Super Sayian Prime » Wed Nov 18, 2009 9:23 am

Announced via the January 2010 (published December) issue of Weekly Shonen Jump offshoot V-Jump, DragonBall DS 2: Charge! Red Ribbon Army (Dragon Ball DS 2 : Totsugeki! Red Ribbon Gun) is the followup to 2008's DragonBall DS/Origins.

Unlike the original title, Charge! Red Ribbon Army! will allow the user to use buttons for controlling Goku, rather then just the touchscreen. The game will also include a ROM image of one of the very first DragonBall games ever! DragonBall: Shenron no Nazo (known as Dragon Power in a heavily localized North American release) from the Nintendo Entertainment System will be included as a bonus.

What a machine our beloved DragonBall franchise is!

Got a source on those scans?

Yeah, please don't post something up unless there's a source to go along with it (and if there is, please provide it!). It's not helpful, otherwise :).

I don't know where the cool kids see all their leaked Jump scans so early, these days. I'm just not hip to the internet.

I used to be with it. Then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me!

I'm so old, now. -_-

I thought the sequel was Revenge of King Piccolo? That's why that game skipped that first part of DB.

Honestly I would prefer a sequel to Attack of Saiyans. I have already played that game more than I played Origins.

This is the only news source I can find that mentions it: http://www.siliconera.com/2009/11/18/th ... evolution/
In addition to Digimon Story, Dragon Ball DS 2 Assault! Red Ribbon Army, a sequel to Dragon Ball DS is scheduled to ship on February 11 and it’s also for the DS.
This seems kinda redundant to do now...but thats never stopped them before! :P

Also they'll have to change it to Dragon Ball Origins 2 Assault! Red Ribbon Army thanks to our pals at Atari. Luckily they don't have the distribution rights (that was it right) to the Dragon Ball video games.

Scans from JUMP will be out in a few days at max. What we got was a person who got the issue early and talked about the things in it. They mentioned Digimon Story, and the new DS title. The reason why Digimon Story is getting all the blogosphere coverage is because it was the title that Namco Bandai had made a countdown clock for.

My OP was done on a mobile browser, so a lack of information was due to that. Although I couldn't really post a linked source anyways, since "scans" was definately not the right word

Army Assault sound very generic don't you think? I like the original title because the assault part in the title will probably be the part on the cover that grabs our attention.

Well, I wasn't saying they should change the name(but they will anyway), I just meant they can ignore the "Origins" title. "Buu's Fury" tossed "Legacy of Goku" aside.

You have a good point there. Also I thought you were saying they should change the title sorry.

Is "Assault! Red Ribbon Army" the actual subtitle or a translation? 'Cause if that was a translation, I think "Assault of the Rid Ribbon Army!" or "Assault Against the Rid Ribbon Army!" would work better.

My knowledge of Japanese characters is... lacking, so I'm unsure if Siliconera's name for it is a translation of what this Japanese blog says (scroll down a bit).

I should note this will be in the next/current (?) issue of V-Jump.

ドラゴンボールDS2 突撃!レッドリボン軍
DragonBall DS2 Totsugeki! Reddo Ribon Gun
DragonBall DS 2: Charge! Red Ribbon Army

"Assault" also works, I suppose.

I'm going to bet this game doesn't get released in the United States. The first one sold really poorly. So did Advanced Adventure and so did Revenge of King Piccolo.

With the exception of the Wonderswan game, I can't think of a single Japanese-made game since 2001 that hasn't come out in North America. Especially now with a new publisher with a more significant vested-interest in selling the games (it's their own production), I think we can count on it coming out.

"Sold poorly" does not inherently mean "not profitable".

Oh! Well then, I'm going to go ahead and get excited about this one then! :D

I loved the first Origins game! I never did around to beating Jackie Chun.
