Which game do you think was the most well-made?
This is not necessarily a "what is your favorite game" thread. This is looking at things from a technical standpoint. Which DB game do you think is the best put-together or best coded or however you want to point out its superior craftsmanship? It doesn't have to be a recent one. Feel free to nominate one of the NES games if you really think it's that good. Me, I haven't played a wide enough variety to have a valid opinion on this.
To a strong man, the end justifies the means. To a stronger man, the means justify the end.

It would be, but it's near-totally crippled by its obscenely hard difficulty. Its "Very Easy" mode is harder than some "Z" modes I've played.Mayuri Furiza Kurotsuchi wrote:Why not Infinite World? Isn't that supposed to be the "pefect" Budokai-esque game?

Budokai 3!
I can not tell you how many hours I put into the game and yet I still haven't gotten everything yet. The game is just so much fun, my only complaint is that they didn't keep the funny what if stuff from Budokai 2.

...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

All it has is the best Budokai gameplay(but wasn't much a leap from the previous console game as B3 was to B2) and some new characters, the overall package was a disappointment though. It was just a rushed game for PS2-only owners who missed out on Burst Limit released in the same year with a really dull story mode which looked as if to say "We gave up on telling the same tale over and over again" by not even having any of the story at all, just the fights(only a handful actually ever got scenes, RUSHED scenes anyway).Mayuri Furiza Kurotsuchi wrote: Why not Infinite Worlds? To me it was easy but then again, I equpped items as I went on since that's what we're apparently meant to do when the life bars become too high for some of us to handle. Computer difficulty-wise regardless of health, it isn't that hard, especially for people who take advantage of the cancel system a lot and know characters' move lists well.SSj Kaboom wrote: It would be, but it's near-totally crippled by its obscenely hard difficulty. Budokai 3. None of the other DBZ games even come close.
It's not hard, you just suck. :PSSj Kaboom wrote:It would be, but it's near-totally crippled by its obscenely hard difficulty. Not necessarily. I could do pretty well in SSF2T, typically make it to Sagat or Bison (though, I will admit, never win) but the Budokai games can still give me trouble.
I think it depends on the speed you're used to. SF, and most other Capcom games, are 'fast' games, whereas the Budokai games are slower-paced. The Sparking!/BT games, on the other hand, are faster-paced, and I do much better at them.

Hyper Dimension. Relatively competent fighting game with none of this capsule/potara/customization bullshit that's all over the more recent games. It's a game you can play, straight out of the box, and with friends who don't own it, have spent a zillion hours unlocking crap, and brought their own memory card.
Is it really that hard to make a real fighting game these days?

Yes, in the same way that Super Mario Bros 1 wouldn't get made today.Adamant wrote:Hyper Dimension. I never played IW, but I have been told the game has a good amount of gitchs and took out some modes from the other games. The youtube videos of the game made me not want to buy anyways since it's Budokai 3.5 IMO. It should have been a PSN game that you download for $15.

It's been years since I've played Art of Fighting, and I don't remember much about the AI.
My comparison of Budokai and any Capcom game is like between Mario and Sonic. Being good/bad at one doesn't necessarily translate to skill in the other. They may both be platforming series, but they have different rules, speeds, etc.
In your average Capcom fighting game, or in Sparking/BT, if you make a mistake, you know it instantly but the window of opportunity for your opponent to capitalize on that mistake is also typically very small. In a Budokai game, if you make a mistake, typically you don't realize it till halfway through the move, and your opponent still has plenty of time to punish you. This can be very hard to adjust to if you're used to the more lightning-quick speed.
My sole complaint about Hyper Dimension is no Mirai Trunks. Otherwise, completely awesome game.
If you have a copy of that PC game, you have to hook me up.
