Topic Search Engine

Post by Piccolo Daimao » Thu Dec 24, 2009 6:35 am

Just a suggestion for Daizenshuu EX...I know that there are some people here who make new threads, but without knowing that there's a thread similar or identical to that thread. There's also the case of wanting to find a specific thread, but it becomes a hassle when, say, the thread you're looking for is 10 pages back.

So my idea here is...maybe there could be a small search engine where you type in the name of the thread you're looking for, and it comes up with the results. Like, if you typed in "Raging Blast" in the Video Games thread, it would come up with all the threads with "Raging Blast" in their name.

Thoughts?

Well, there is a Search function built into the forum. It should be at the top of every page on the forum, next to FAQ.

That said, I never have much success using it. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

I never noticed that at first. I tried using it, but I couldn't find what I wanted either.

It seems to work fine for me. Just follow the directions (putting "AND" before your query) and select one forum section at a time.

It can be pretty frustrating (and the syntax on boolean operators in a search string is just confusing), and it comes up with a ton of unrelated stuff, and...... o.o. At least it's better than proboards' "Search", which... doesn't... do much of anything 9 times out of 10. -_-
