Part of History Of Trunks US OST mystery solved.....

Post by MCDaveG » Wed Jan 13, 2010 5:01 pm

I have rips of that 3 CD single soundtrack from one friend. I was always thinking, why is this release that weird....
Tracklist:
Disc one:
"Android 17 enjoys the calm before the storm"
DBZ movie theme remix by Andy Baylor (4:07)
Shackler by Bootsy Collins with Buckethead (5:42)
Home (edit) by Dreamtheater (5:01)
Garden of Grace performed by Neck Down (4:47)

Disc two:
"Yamcha suffers defeat at the hands of the androids"
DBZ/Havoc movie theme by Andy Baylor/Dale D. Kelly (3:23)
unknown bonus track? (3:41)
Through Her Eyes by Dreamtheater (5:28)
Immigrant Song performed by Triprocket (3:36)

Disc three:
DBZ movie theme remix by Andy Baylor/Dale D. Kelly (4:05)
Havoc remix by Andy Baylor and Dale D. Kelly (3:08)
Garden of Grace by Dale D. Kelly (3:02)
Ascension by Mark Akin (4:50)

Limited Edition Collectors EP's - 3 CD picture disc set
Artwork and layout by Dale D. Kelly

(December 12) 2001 Animated Music Inc (3CD)

You can find only two or three tracks which are really included in movie....
For example, you can't find here any of those movie openings, all three here are some different vocal mixes and remix.
Garden Of Grace is also that weird Hip Hop track played after that brutal defeat of Gohan and Trunks, where Gohan lost his arm, but it's instrumental version.
+ almost every track from Dream Theater featured in movie as BGM can be found on their albums.
But it's impossible to get some of that BGM created by Mark Menza (Or whoever else did that). For example that song played in Gohan s Androids climax.

Also I read somewhere that Andy Baylor refused to have his work released from this movie. That's probably the reason why you can't get this weird soundtrack.

First time I saw this TV special, it was the english/US dub. I really don't like US dub because of script and music, but I was amazed by this one, because I really like Dream Theater and music in this dub is added quite well (except for some moments, when Andy Baylor, who the hell is he, is in the background). Only thing I like from him in movie is intro.
Ingnoring bad and changed dialogues of US dub, comparing them to Original Japanese, I was really impressed by US BGM this time in comparing it to the TV run and ther movies (especially those with the rock band, they were horrible).
FighterZ: Funky_Strudel
PS5: Dynamixx88

Hey! I remember seeing those at the "Z-Store" back in the day and always wanted them. And I totally agree with you on the music thing. I loved the music in this and it's the only Dragon Ball special where the music is really fitting and doesn't feel so off. Like Gohan's death scene, Prelude by Slaughter played and it was so emotional. Funny thing is you can get that song on these disks!
"You must have faith in who you are." - Gohan (Dragonball Evolution)
