Dragon Ball GT in Czech Republic
It's set on Animax during the first half of 2010. It's the first time that Dragon Ball will be on television here with a full voice cast in czech language.
As soon as I will spot it, I'll try to get some video to show you the dub (But I doubt it will be good, because nobody is much interested in anime in this country).
Dub for anime is done like that: ''Oh, next dumb kiddy animation. Let's do this quick, we must pay some C grade actors for dubs and with that few pences left, let's hire some student on brigade as director.''
Dunno why GT and not the beginning. Mostly because of the Hungarian problem I have spoken before. Since we share the same TV schedule on Animax as Hungary, because there probably is the headquarters for this channel. GT wasn't ever shown in Hungary before, but DB and DBZ was and Dragon Ball mania is gone long ago, so maybe they somewhat erased that hungarian ban on Dragon Ball broadcast.
EDIT: It is set to broadcast on Thursdays in all the central europe.

I don't know why Animax will try to win fans back into Dragon Ball with GT and a bad dub won't help either.

Thanks for the news! Is there a Czech website or forum post anywhere that details this information so I can link to it? Running a quick search on animaxtv.cz didn't yield anything.

It's here http://www.animaxtv.hu/news/januarban-az-animax-musoran
The czech site is quite poor and not that much updated and since Hungarian Animax is identical to the czech one with difference of language between the two.
Wikipedia confirmed it, that the premieres will be the same for whole central europe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animax_Eas ... rogramming
There it is set on October with airing it on thursdays
Personally, I would rather see original Dragon Ball series. Czech and Slovak republic are the only countries where Dragon Ball will be shown for first time.
But since Animax is digital cable and satellite channel, it won't cause any much uproar in merchandise, so it'll be the same.

Re: Dragon Ball GT in Czech Republic
Hello! I'm from Hungary, and the Animax said: the GT will be on TV in this spring, if it's possible, but the first plan was September 2009. The series is not arrived from Japan, this is the problem, and they said, they bought the special too, and if the GT will be successful, they will buy the Kai too.
why GT? The answer is simple, in Hungary we saw the Dragonball and the Dragonball Z, (from 1997 to 1999, BUT the ORTT the hungarian FCC is banned the DBZ. The last episode was 121, when Gokuu arrived to the Earth. But it's an other long and weird story
). So the Animax don't know the Dragonball will be successful in 2009, and the GT is more cheaper than the DB or the DBZ.

Oh man, you Czechs are lucky
( I wish I saw a full-dubbed Dragon Ball (even GT, which I don't like) in Poland ehh....
We have some animes on AXN Sci-Fi, but with subtitles, no dubbing
.
Anyway, looking forward to see the Czech version

Re: Dragon Ball GT in Czech Republic
Brodie: I know about DB in Hungary from my friend who is half-breed Hungarian, that after that ban, they were releasing Android saga on VHS. I saw copy of VHS with 4 episodes Goku and Vegeta vs Andorid 19 and Gero.
And later, Buu saga was broadcasted at night. I don't know better info.
Gokufan: Animax is or will be broadcasting in Polland from what I saw on net, and it have the same schedule as the other central european countries. They are still doing voiceovers on Animax? I was watching Polish DB, DBZ and DBGT on RTL7 long time ago. With voiceovers by some Zbygniew don't remember surname. But DBZ movie 12 have proper Polish dub.
I don't think that it's lucky with our current anime dubbing, they don't care about it and it's done by cheaper way.

Wow, you watched polish version? ^_^ How nice! And we had 2 Zbigniews in DB (Zbigniew Dobrzański (episodes 1-154), Zbigniew Raćborski (episodes 155-508), yeah, they have almost the same voices
). In Poland we have almost everything voice-overed, but I hope that this will change soon... And about Animax, it was scheduled long time ago, but we still don't have it
.
Back on topic, maybe you are right that that dubbing will be lame, but just look at it like this: The more dubs they'll do, they'll get more experience
. And your dubbed animes will get better.

Re: Dragon Ball GT in Czech Republic
Sure I was. I'm not able to speak well in Polish, but I can understand almost everything in it. I was watching Dragon Ball on German channel, but I don't understand much German and was bored with it, and later when I was ill I switched on RTL7 on satellite, so I've seen all of episodes there plus Slayers and Saint Seiya. Yeah, those two narrators are almost the same:D
In GT broadcast, I saw line yellow line Uwaga! about some casting. Don't you know if it was for that dubbed movie?
