A fun Vegeta "What-If?"

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

A fun Vegeta "What-If?"

Post by Jon Jon » Fri Jan 22, 2010 12:24 pm

I've thought about this for a while, and it somehow NEVER managed to become a what if in any of the dragon ball games.

What if Guru last a little longer for Dende to make the final wish for Vegeta to gain immortality? I always pondered this.

That would be fun. My favourite Vegeta what-if idea is the one I had a while ago. What if Vegeta was wished too be a child again instead of Goku. I can almost picture this having a lot of great scenes.

Immortailty wouldn't help Vegeta if he could do absolutely nothing to Frieza in his 1st form, let alone his further transformations.

It also matters not if he had eternal life, if he was, you know - blown to bits. I never understood how immortality was interchangeable with invulnerablity.

He would just heal up. Really would have to go by Garlic Jr. logic here since he was the only being to succeed in getting immortality.

I figured he would just continue to get beaten up by Freeza until his saiyan body would just strengthen itself up passed Freeza's capability.

But Garlic is non-canon.

I always figured Vegeta's immortality would more or less be similiar to a zombie's - they don't die until you destroy their head.

Vegeta's immortality would help him with the zenkais, and he would just zenkai his way to the top.

That's what I figured would happen as well. I am not sure whether immortality would stop aging though, which could be horrific really (like in the ancient Greek story of Tithonus). Vegeta would also have to endure a lot of torture in order to eventually recover and become as strong as Freeza.

If he was giving Immortailty then the chances are that he will still lose to Freeza, and Goku would still likely become SSj. I think Trunk's future might be different seeing that him and Gohan will be the only characters that would not be killed by #17, and #18.

Zenkais become insignificant after a certain point. He wouldn't get to Goku's SSj power, at least.

I wounder how Trunks future would be like? Either Vegeta would be killed somehow from #17, and #18 or will still be alive along with Gohan?

Sorry... but this is just driving me nuts with everyone writing this.

His name is "Trunks". His name includes the "s" at the end. You can't take that letter out, add an apostrophe, and then an "s", and think it looks in any way correct.

You can (1) add an apostrophe to the end (Trunks') to indicate that it's possessive even though it ends in an "s", or (2) you can add an extra 's at the very end (Trunks's). Either is technically correct.

I prefer the former. You can do whatever you want... as long as you stop saying his name is "Trunk" :P.

Definitely agree with this. Chibified Vegeta would've been way funnier than chibified Goku. XD Lots of untapped potential there.
(Goku, Trunks, and child!Vegeta traveling in deep space? Yes please!)

About the immortality wish "What-if?"; I'd like to think that Vegeta would've received the same type as Garlic Jr and simply zenkai'd himself enough to take on Freeza. I'm not sure if he could've done enough to reach super saiyajin or not though at that point in time. Also, if he got that wish, it would've become really tricky to get everyone off of Planet Namek because that was going to be Goku's wish to teleport everyone except Freeza and himself to Earth.

Although I do have this theory that if Vegeta were to get astoundingly lucky, he'd gain immortality, somehow defeat Freeza, take Freeza's place as ruler, and hold Goku hostage (before Freeza gets a chance to kill Kuririn so Goku hasn't gone ssj yet) while the rest of the cast who can fight battles against Vegeta does so. Meanwhile, Bulma and the rest are waiting for the dragon balls to recharge to see if they could wish away Vegeta's immortality so they'd have a chance to finally take him down for good.
On hiatus.

Yes I'd love that. I was just picturing scenes in my head like Goku talking to him like a child and Vegeta snapping "Damn it Kakarot I am not a child!" and more stuff like that which would have just been priceless to see. I keep hoping it'll make into a game at least as a What if.

It would be even more funny if they were both turned into chibi form! Could you imagine Vegeta's reaction to an adult Piccolo telling him to grow up and act his age.
I agree there is so much untapped potential in them being turned into children, It should feature in a new special.

I always wondered what if Vegeta had not allowed the androids to be created, what if he did as future Trunks told him and destroyed them before they were switched on? Obviously this would have had implications on the entire future of Dragonball Z as Cell would not have had the androids to absorb, Krillin would never have found love in a robot... But what else?
"Ok, use your instincts Kakarott. Right or Left? (Hmmm... I'd have to say... left.) Good. Then I'm going right!" (Vegeta to Goku as they try to find their way to free the others inside Buu - Episode: The Innards of Buu)

Buu's release would take longer as there'd be no SSJ2. Then when he was out he'd slaughter everyone as there would be NO SSJ2 or SSJ3, and Goku would not have learned about fusion to create Gotenks. Also Piccolo would be the strongest warrior as Cell would still appear and he'd still fuse with Kami to stop him.

I don't know what dictionary you used to look up the word immortality but it means if someone is immortal they never die, no matter what.

And I don't know what series you're reading, but he can't exist without a head. Stop taking everything so damned literally.

Yeah, but no one will be able to cut off his head because he is immortal and cutting of his head will obviously kill him.

Immortality is not interchangeable with invulnerability.
