i have used to watch DBZ in south east asia gowing up (late 80s early 90s) but it was all in japanese and we could never afford any stuff back then because we were poor kids but I always liked DBZ series despite I could never understand it or get anything. Anyways, fast forward only 18 years LOL! and I am in NYC and have the means to re-create some of my childhood longings and I am doing some DBZ collecting
I am posting this for some info on DBZ action figures. I am in US and would like to get some VERY good DBZ figures about 5-6" standerd sizes with lots of joints and articulation and above all best possible quality/animation. I am not into model kits but if there are some stunning ones (that does NOT require glue and paint) please mention them also. I am aware of Bandai MG 1/8 Goku. Is there anything else in that series like Cell or Broly?
Here is what I like so far. DBZ RAH medicom figures 12" and possibly the best ones I have seen. Can anyone comment if they are made in Japan or where?
Figuarts Series (Only Piccolo and Goku so far) actually even goku is in pre order state I think. This seems to be the best version of figures anywhere based on my limited knowledge. Where are these made at? Anyone can comment on quality?
Finally the Hybrid series. Lots of choices here in characters and good movement with lots of joints. How does this compare with Figuarts series? The only other ones I have seen that are worthy of mention is the full action pose series from 1991 made in japan by bandai but those cost like $100 in US and at that price I can almost by 12" medicom RAH series.
I am interested in Goku SS2 or 3, Broly, Cell, Vegeta SS2 and Trunks SS2 stages. Please let me know your thoughts and what you think is the best action figure series for DBZ?
Finally does figures from Bandai Asia vs Bandai Japan are different in quality? I know most US versions do not compare well with Japanese but what about Bandai Asia? I was looking at hybrid series and it seems like Japan and Asia market versions are exactly or almost same. Is this true? Is made in Japan Bandai toys a myth of quality or is that true? The only ones made in japan I have seen are either model kits or Full Action Pose series from early 90s!
If there are any members in NYC area who know of a physical store I can visit from DBZ stuff it would be awesome. The only stuff I have seen in shops are crappy US released figures.
I also have a DBZ DVDs realted question but that is for another thread. Also if DBZ model kits and action figures are covred anywhere online extensively in english please let me know and I will read about it.
Help please
thanks
