Goku and Bulma's Relationship

Okay, so we all know that Goku and Bulma are the best of friends, had awesome, crazy adventures and just had a ton of fun. But could their relationship have ever been taken a step further, like a "together together" relationship? I've always had a weird feeling that deep down somewhere Bulma did have some kind of feelings for Goku but was never taken in that route due to Yamucha and Vegeta coming into the mix. So what do you guys think? If Yamucha and Vegeta were non-existent, could Bulma somehow fall for Goku somewhere along the line when he was older?

She did. She realizes her feelings during the 23rd Budokai, and talks about how much she'd rather be with him than with Yamucha while on Namek. She was just a bit late to the party, and Goku got engaged a couple hours or so earlier. It was Chichi, not Yamucha or Vegeta, who'd have to be non-existant.

I think I read somewhere that Mr. Toriyama's old editor Mr. Torishima liked the idea of Goku and Bulma together.

But if they to have gotten together early on at some point, what would happen to Chi-Chi? Would she end up with Vegeta or Yamcha somehow then? Or would she simply not resurface volumes later in that 23rd tournament at all?

It was Chichi, not Yamucha or Vegeta, who'd have to be non-existant.

Yeah, that's the other side to it that I was thinking about. That would be so weird now to see how their relationship would work and how their kids would look.

Would she end up with Vegeta or Yamcha somehow then?

That is another interesting think to think about too.

I don't think it would work out, Bulma is too materialistic. Goku just whats to live a simple life out it the woods, not in the big city. I think Chi Chi is way better for Goku.

Considering the kind of woman Bulma is, she could easily have gotten Goku to marry her if she wanted to and if no one else was in the way. I'm not really sure if she ever seriously liked him that way, though... She muses about it now and then with stuff like, "hmm, maybe I missed my chance," but...you know what she's like. Even Oolong calls her out on her fickleness when she mentions it at the 23rd tournament.

But if they did get married at the end of Dragon Ball, Bulma would move on after Goku died at the Cell Games.

I could easily see her move on to Vegeta then, which could've made the Cell arc turn out more or less the same as it originally did, just with a slightly younger Trunks going back in time.

Would've made for an interesting meeting between him and Goku.

Hahaha! I love it! Plus Gokuh and Bulma would be cute together, me thinks. It would be like Gokuh marrying his childhood friend ('cause they are. Lol).

Yeah, Bulma and Goku would make a better couple than Bulma and Vegeta. Not better than Bulma and Yamcha though.

Both of them are way too different, I doubt it would work out. I think Goku wouldn't really care, but Bulma definitely would get pissed of about some of Goku's way of thinking I guess. If they broke up, it would be because of Bulma.

I doubt ChiChi would've been re-introduced if Toriyama wanted Bulma and Goku to end up together.

...It was a throwaway comment. Nothing seriously indicates she had romantic feelings toward for the guy.

She says it to herself right after Gohan flies off (in the manga, at least). It's such a passing comment: "Little Son Goku... Who'd have thought he'd become the ultimate power? And me always fighting with Yamcha, who's supposed to be my boyfriend. ...Did I blow it?"

As Oolong once mentioned, Bulma's a fickle woman. I would imagine that unless she's settled down, she would have a wandering eye. Granted, she wouldn't be like Yamcha, but she'd still likely keep her options open.

I always liked the idea of Bulma and Goku. Bulma seems to have much more depth to her as a character than Chi-Chi, also Goku and Bulma being practically opposites would've made for a much more entertaining relationship. They could've played off one another much more, and it would've (to me) felt much more natural than the forced relationship between Goku and Chi-Chi. Not that Chi-Chi is totally sucks.. she's just.. absolutely useless, and contributes nothing worth while to the series.

They could've been Bulma's.. they'd have just had irises.. and Gohan would've basically been a different character. :p

I don't think Goku would be the type to live at Capsule Corp. He would just train in a gravity room like Vegeta all day.
