Do the episode previews spoil anything?
Since I'm going to be purchasing the Japanese Dragon Box DVD Boxsets, I was wondering something. I'm watching to watch an episode daily, and read along with the kanzenban manga. I was just wondering, should I watch the episode previews, and do they spoil anything? I mean the episode titles do, I know that. Thanks.

The previews spoil a lot. The Japanese don't seem to have a problem with that and they fire away key moments from the upcoming episodes like it's nothing.

Yeah, they can practically give away an entire episode in the preview.
When I'm finished watching an episode of DB/Z/Kai with my brother, I often joke and say, "Well...I guess we don't have any reason to watch the next episode now."

It's real funny thinking about it, it must be something the rest of us completely take for granted, having watched it all before.
I actually envy your innocence though, when the dub in the UK broke the hundredth episode mark I was already waiting for villains who wouldn't show up till nearer the end. That's the internet for you.
Had to be SO careful not to spoil anything there, ha!

What does the scouter say about his blood alcohol level?

I was the same way back when I was watching DBZ back on Toonami. I would often get online and read ahead and see what was going to happen. I knew what was going to happen in GT before the Cell arc even started up. Looking back I kinda regret it though because it took away the surprise of it all.ShonenKnife wrote:It's real funny thinking about it, it must be something the rest of us completely take for granted, having watched it all before.

Oh and btw, not only do the previews spoil a lot but so do the actual episode titles... at least in the dub they do. I don't remember if the Japanese episode titles do, though.

The Japanese titles spoil even more, as they are quite longer themselves.

I know, they basically spoil the whole plot of the upcoming episode.BobZ wrote:The Japanese titles spoil even more, as they are quite longer themselves.

I guess that's just one of the reasons why it's better to read the manga first. The chapter titles aren't so revealing that the complete segment is spoiled, only giving a general idea of whats going on (I refer mainly to to the Viz chapter titles, can't remember any of the fan-scans from the wonder years).BobZ wrote:The Japanese titles spoil even more, as they are quite longer themselves.
BlazeGogeta, perhaps just read on with the manga and watch later?

What I'm going to do, is daily read the manga first and then watch the episode it corresponds to.ShonenKnife wrote:I guess that's just one of the reasons why it's better to read the manga first. That seems like it might get a little repetetive after a while. I wouldn't worry about spoilers to much. I mean nobody else worried about them and we've enjoyed the series just fine xD I think one or the other would be good for now. Although its all up to you of course.BlazeGogeta wrote:What I'm going to do, is daily read the manga first and then watch the episode it corresponds to.ShonenKnife wrote:I guess that's just one of the reasons why it's better to read the manga first. Re: Do the episode previews spoil anything?
The Next Episode previews are a very important part of the anime experience, they hype you up by making the next episode look cooler than it will actually end up being. I still remember getting really enticed for the Ranma vs. Ryoga fight in the first season of Ranma because of that episode preview.
In Dragon Ball's case I think I might prefer the Last Episode things, though, at the beginning of each episode. The first 'Last Time' theme in Z is one of the most unique, atmospheric songs in the series, it fits perfectly during those episodes where everyone's training for Nappa and Vegeta.
